Coco-Mat Hotel Santorini

Normally when writing a review about spectacular service it’s common to single out the person or people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. However following our recent stay it is impossible to do that because absolutely every single member of the team organised by Ellie had our best interests at heart and they made our stay absolutely wonderful. This hotel has spectacular views, spectacular food, spectacular accommodation and (yes you’ve guessed it) spectacular service. I have stayed in many hotels during my years and this experience has to be the best I have ever experienced. The food is amazing - breakfast, lunch and dinner - the pool area is wonderful - the views are awesome inspiring - I’m lost for words. We were sad to leave and definitely plan to return next year !! if you need peace and luxury on your vacation then choose this hotel. The hotel offers an incredible view and very good service. the rooms are very clean and the food very tasty. the mattress and pillows are amazing. I highly recommend cocomat santorini.

We spent 5 days at Coco-Mat Santorini and it was just bliss. The hotel is located along the coast on the way to the lighthouse just past the village of Akrotiri. The rooms look out over the beautiful infinity pool directly out to the sea (there are some rooms that are underground that look directly out to sea as well). The views are stunning looking right over the Caldera. You can see the volcano, the lighthouse and Oia. We stayed in a double room with a small courtyard and hot tub. It had its own sun loungers as well. The room was well appointed with air con, fridge, Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle. The bathroom was a wet room with a large shower. The infinity pool was unheated and not fresh water but was very refreshing. There were always plenty of available sun loungers around the pool with umbrellas and pool towels and slippers were provided. The pool location benefits from a very welcome sea breeze. A point to note is that with the exception of a few steps down to the room, the majority of the site has smooth paths which makes it ideal for anyone travelling who has limited mobility, as one of our group did. There is a restaurant and bar that has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Breakfast was excellent with a nice choice of fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt, fresh bread, cheese and meats, pastries. Orange juice, water and unlimited freshly made coffee is also included. Eggs were available as a chargeable extra for those that want them. We also ate dinner in the restaurant on a couple of occasions. In both cases, the menu was quite limited due to certain meals being unavailable but the food we did eat was really good (and huge Greek portions!). If you're planning on eating dinner in the restaurant I'd recommend checking what's available first in case they have run out of anything. If you've got a car and fancy going out for dinner then I'd recommend trying 'Misteli' for dinner. In my opinion, it's the best restaurant in Akrotiri, which is a small village about 3 miles away from the hotel (see my other review for Misteli if you're interested). The whole of the site was very tidy and clean with beautiful gardens and looked equally as nice in the evening when it was lit up. There is also a car park which had plenty of space for guests. Finally, the staff are all fantastic!! Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly, helpful and personable from the lady in reception who checked us in to the lady and man in the restaurant who quickly remembered our coffee preferences each morning and greeted us with a warm welcome each morning. We loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

It is my intention to be super fair and honest in this review. Firstly, the hotel is stunning and in the best position for an amazing view. Secondly, Dimitris could have not done better to manage the damages that the management is doing to this establishment and to make our stay pleasant. The management has decided to scrap the restaurant service for this season and to close the bar at 4pm (this was due to the fact that they did not have enough bookings). We had our breakfast included in the price, but again the smart management has decided that espresso coffee would be charged extra while a coffee frappe’ would be included in the breakfast. My advice to anyone who is thinking to book is to check beforehand whether they have resumed the restaurant activities and the opening time of the bar; otherwise you will risk to be left with no services whatsoever after 4pm. No drinks, no water no nothing. Last but not least the rooms were super small and with substandard cleanliness

Perfect accomodation with the best view and deluxe rooms. Friendly and hardworking staff and owners. Ideal hotel for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the island .

**VERY DISAPPOINTED** Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at this property. It feels very tired and is in desperate need of refurbishment. We encountered rusty railings, a dirty pool with green algae on the sides, and worn, dirty sunbeds. There was a persistent sewage smell in our room, and the glossy painted floors posed a safety hazard, causing both myself and my daughter to slip. Water around the pool had nowhere to drain, pooling by the entrance. Although the property is marketed for guests aged 14+, we encountered a 10-year-old child jumping into the pool and splashing everyone, which was far from the peaceful ‘haven’ we expected. The noise from the nearby road was also quite disruptive, especially in the afternoons. Air Conditioning also struggled. We were disappointed to find that the wooden bikes advertised were not available, and the so-called ‘gym’ consisted of just a few weights and a wooden bench next to the pool — not what we had in mind. Moreover, the mattress in our room was badly worn and sagging in the middle, leading to a poor night's sleep and resulting in back pain. After our first night, I addressed these concerns with the hotel manager and kindly requested to be charged for only one night so we could leave. Unfortunately, this request was denied due to their non-refundable booking policy. (we prepaid for three nights through *******) On a positive note, the staff were polite and friendly, and the breakfast was decent. The view from the hotel was also very nice. I appreciate that everyone has different standards, but this hotel was marketed as a luxury, peaceful haven for adults, and our experience did not align with that promise. Given that we nearly paid €300 per night, the value for money simply isn't there, and we regretted booking this hotel.
