White House Villa

An absolute dump in dire need of renovation. Look at the photos! (my photos, not the airbrushed owner photos) Lights did not work, sewage smell from bathroom, dead bugs in corners, everything loose and falling apart. You get suckered in by the nice looking jacuzzi and view but everything else is a nigh**are. Mold growing in the fridge, coffee maker, etc. You want Greece? How about a greasy film in the drawers, cabinets, utensils, microwave, gross! Oh, and they don't let you flush toilet paper down the toilets. Just put your used TP in the basket next to the toilet and the maid (who has no idea how to clean) will take away your poop. Stay here at your own risk, you have been warned. We bolted after 1 sleepness night and stayed at a hotel instead. Still waiting for a refund. Update to follow...

We took our family trip to Santorini and stayed at White House villa. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly about this villa. The good was a great location about a 10 minute walk to the start of Oia central shopping and restaurant district which was great. Had a nice small patio with small jacuzzi/plunge pool which we used for our family of 6. Great views of Oia and sunsets particularly from the path that was atop our villa and accessible from it as well. Authentic cave villa and plenty of room for us all. The bad was that it had no comfortable accommodations from the furniture to the bedding and it was in need of updating. We all did not sleep very well. When you come back from a long day of tourist activity you just want to be comfortable and this was just not the case. Bathrooms need to be updated and the master bath was a bit hazardous in that it was all marble and no true shower as you had a hand held shower attachment from the tub which got water all over the place since there was no enclosure. Getting in and out was delicate from the step up tub. Caution was paramount as hot water created a slick floor and step down to the floor requires care. Too much to manage for vacation The company providing food service to the villa stated 45 minute delivery but we ordered the first night and it took 90 minutes, the food was cold and they delivered only some of the order. Took another 45 minutes to get the rest. At the same time we ordered our breakfast which was supposed to be the daily occurrence but while it came in an hour, it was poor quality and not really edible for us. This turned out to be better anyway since we then ventured into Oia each morning and found better options at better prices which I recommend for any visitors The ugly was that the villa bathrooms had a severe sewage smell that we could not eradicate. As I now understand it some cave villas have this in Santorini but why would that be acceptable? Simply not a good situation to have when traveling. Santorini is a special place but choose your accommodations carefully.
