The Toucan Inn

I absolutely love this place. The best looking place we have in Independence, however I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the food! I went for breakfast and ordered a Belizean breakfast ( fry jacks,beans,eggs and bacon) everything on my plate was not good. If the owners invest in experience cooks,waiters and bartenders, this place will be the best in the south.

We went to the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. The place looks great with AC. The service is great and welcoming. The food came quick and it was really good. Great place to go eat when you make a trip to the village of Independence. Just a great experience.

The Toucan Inn is hands down the most hospitable hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious- they made the best chicken I’ve ever tasted (mango habanero chicken I think). The rooms were clean and spacious. I only have good things to say about this hotel! If you are searching for a place to stay in this area, this is where to go.

The rooms and facilities were top notch for any place of stay in Independence Belize. The staff were congenial, thoughtful and responsive. The food was the best in Belize; this includes restaurants in Placencia, Cahal Pech and Belize City.

Great conditions. Rooms comfortable. Great location and the people in charge of the attentions always have an smile. Now in June 5 they are new in the zone; buildings have to be the best conditions comparing the other places near the location. Food is amazing

This place is super new or super newly renovated. It seems to be one of the first of its kind in this particular town. There is a fence around the property, but we didn’t see any particular need for it, aside from making guests feel secure and a little more away from the local sounds and sights. The neighborhood seemed laid back and not touristy. The bar-restaurant is SO cute. The food was excellent. I had the steak. My friend had the conch ceviche. Both were excellent. I also had the enormous dessert in a tall glass. There was fruit and jello and whipped goodness and it was huge. Caroline, the lady who was working the bar and dining room, was easily the highlight of this restaurant experience. She was so much fun and easy to talk to. She said the place hasn’t been open long. It would be in the owner’s best interest to keep her happy; she was an absolute delight. This place was a fantastic last minute find. The rooms are SO clean and sparkling new feeling. We actually wondered if we were the first guests in that particular room (we didn’t ask). Go here! Stay here! Eat here too!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Toucan. The property was recently renovated and all furniture and linen are brand new & of high quality. The staff are really attentive and there is good security at night. We felt very safe! It's less than an hour to the Jaguar reserve, spice farm and to Punta Gorda. It’s only a few minutes by boat to Placencia. There are water taxis that leave every half hour. A good midway point to rest up if going to Punta Gorda. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends & family! You won’t be disappointed!

We had a fantastic time at the Toucan Inn! We visited as a family of 4 as we wanted to visit nearby Placencia. The quality of rooms was better than other spots we had previously stayed at in Placencia. While this hotel is not on the beach, it is only a 15 min boat ride to Placencia and very convenient. Food was great and the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable! Alondra and her team are amazing. You must try their seafood chowder! We will certainly be back.
