I just spent three nights here and I struggle to see how this is rated No4 of the hotels in Urfa. I notice that there is only one review in the past two years and that is not a good one. I can only assume that when reviewers talk about chatting to the owners and staff that this must have been years ago. I actually enjoyed staying here. The hotel is very convenient for the main sights and I was able to park not too far away. There is literally one guy who does everything. He checked me in, helped with my bags from the car, made breakfast and cleaned the rooms between bookings. He was really friendly and the breakfast was excellent but he does not speak English. The building is a big restored traditional house and the architecture is great. My room was large and comfortable but the bathroom was tiny and a bit scruffy. Wifi worked well as did the aircon, there was plenty of hot water. There was a fridge but it wasn't connected up. The room was decorated in a traditional style with some interesting ornaments. It was clean when I arrived but not cleaned every day. This didn't bother me but might not suit some people. Breakfast was in the courtyard and there were also two large upper terraces with views of the city. I also had a small seating area outside my door which was good. It took about half an hour to check out as my *********** reservation said they accept Visa but it was a struggle to get a connection with their card machine. Possibly easier to pay cash. This hotel is fine as long as you don't go with massive expectations. The guy running it tries his absolute best but perhaps he should be given a bit of help by the owner. All in all, it was quirky but a good experience.
