I had the absolute worst experience at Portobello Beach Hotel in San Andrés. I made a reservation directly through their website, prepaid the full amount, and had all the necessary confirmation details, including my reservation number and proof of payment. Despite this, when I arrived at the hotel at 10 PM—after notifying them in advance—they claimed they had no record of my reservation. To make matters worse, the hotel was completely full, leaving me stranded. The staff was utterly unhelpful and dismissive. Even after showing them all the proof of my reservation and payment, they offered no solutions and refused to take any responsibility. Essentially, they stole my money without providing the service I paid for. Their attitude was indifferent at best, and it felt like they didn’t care at all about the inconvenience they caused me. As if the administrative nightmare wasn’t enough, the hotel itself looked run-down and filthy. The lobby area was poorly maintained, and the overall state of the building gave the impression that cleanliness and upkeep are not a priority here. Frankly, I was glad I didn’t have to stay there, but I’m furious that I lost my money to this scam. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel at all costs. Their lack of professionalism, refusal to honor reservations, and the deplorable state of the property make this one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. There are far better options on the island where you won’t have to deal with this level of incompetence and dishonesty.
