TownePlace Suites Sacramento Cal Expo
3.8/550 Recensioni
TownePlace Suites Sacramento Cal Expo denied my stay although I shared with them several email/texts confirmations of my credit card purchase to check in. The property insisted they had not received payment from Booking.com which showed up on their computer as a Master Card when I used Amex to book the room. The lady at the front desk told me to use my credit card again to charge $207.10 for the stay, but I had already purchased the room. I was aware beforehand that my credit card had reached its limit and trying to conduct another transaction for the room amount would’ve been declined. When the credit card was declined, the lady at the front desk went into your-card-was-declined mode and refused to hear anything I tried to explain to her about my purchasing the room before my arrival. All my attempts to help her understand were useless and fell upon deaf ears. She refused to discuss anything with me further and walked away saying she was “not going to argue with me” even though I was not arguing with her. She abandoned me at the front desk as she entered into the back office. She returned to the front and yelled my last name to one of the managerial staff in the back. Her assistant came out momentarily, maybe he was a manager, idk. Then he began explaining that my card was not approved because the property didn’t receive payment from Booking.com. I showed him my confirmation emails/texts which he dismissed as nothing more but “booking reservations”. I persisted they were not booking reservations, but proof of purchases by both my credit card company and Booking.com. He read the text/emails, then went on a different explanation tangent stating that on his computer the credit card showed as a Master Card not Amex, and insisted the payment was not received on his end. I relented and told both of them I would patiently step aside to one of their tables and call my credit card company and Booking.com. I called my credit card company who did in fact confirm my charge for $207.10 was approved to Booking.com. Next, I called Booking.com, however their automated service was stuck repetitively on asking me to enter my confirmation number. I could not get passed the repetitive automation to enter my confirmation number. Meanwhile, an unrelated issue arose that pulled me from this nightmare. About an hour later I tried calling Booking.com again. Initially the automated service was still stuck on stupid, but luckily after a third attempt it moved forward and asked me to confirm my confirmation number and to enter my PIN. With fingers crossed I entered my PIN and the automation asked me to confirm my PIN. With that hurdle jumped, the automation promised a representative would answer in less than one minute, and BOOM! the agent answered my call. Her name was Nikki, and after hearing my dilemma she was certain the property did not understand how to complete the approved transaction. She stated the Master Card issue shows up because it’s a virtual credit card p

I was not expecting the Ritz- it is an old boat. But for the price, this is a definite no. Positive: all the staff were friendly and attentive. We used valet, check in (complimentary “upgrade”) and ate dinner at the restaurant. Matthew was a great server and food was fresh and tasty. Fun drink menu. We didn’t opt to use our “free” breakfast voucher and ate hot breakfast instead. Good service and plenty of food. Negative: there are nice bistro tables on the top deck where normally you can enjoy the sunset… that is until the random street “performers” decide to blare Bob Marley thru a speaker for 5 hours non stop. Not even joking. You will get constantly harassed by “nomads” The room was tiny which was fine, but it wreaked so bad of chemicals it burned our eyes and throat. Left the door open for a bit but it didn’t help, Towels took a layer of skin off they were so scratchy… Bed was terrible. You just sink to the middle. No support. No extra blankets just a very thin duvet cover. Slept like absolute garbage. Ended up leaving after one night even though we paid for another night. Wasn’t worth our sanity. I do not understand how these rooms can be over $200. I like old charm but this was one of the worst places to go for a weekend getaway to relax. There was none of that on the menu.
