Our 4th visit to this magic place. Greg and Peter are the perfect hosts. Driving down to the Lodge, the bay opens up in front of you. The lodge has a very limited number of rooms - all spacious and beautifully decorated. It's a feeling of intimacy and personal service. The polished kauri floors, the balconies with views over the bay. Greg and Peter are very discrete - you hardly know they are there - but always available when you need them. The 3 course surprise breakfasts are incredible. This is the place we go to recharge our batteries. We travel a lot internationally - and this rates up there as one of the best places we've stayed.

Arcadia Lodge is a stunning property with amazing views and hosted by 2 guys, Greg and Peter, who just want you to have a fabulous time and will arrange any activity you want to do in the area. Peters breakfasts are to die for and we found lunch wasn’t needed! We stayed 5 nights and found plenty to do in the area. Arcadia Lodge was a great place to relax in the evening if we’d dined out. The house itself has an interesting history and full of character. It is beautifully appointed as was our room. A sundowner on the terrace ( or personal balcony) overlooking the lovely bay is the icing on the cake. We would definitely recommend it if you are in this part of NZ.

Back before Airbnb hijacked the term, “BnB” evoked images of upscale comfortable rooms, gracious hosts and wonderful breakfasts. Greg and Peter at Arcadia have achieved that and far more at Arcadia Lodge. Our room was spacious, comfortable and upscale in decor; Greg and Peter are wonderful, attentive and very helpful hosts; and the breakfasts are to die for. And the view from the breakfast deck (even if the awning is out due to rain) is jaw dropping. If we ever return to Russell, and I hope we do, the first thing we’ll do (well in advance) is book a room at Arcadia Lodge.

Greg and Peter were the perfect hosts. They clearly love what they do and where they are. Very knowledgeable about the area and full of suggestions. The variety of breakfasts were amazing. The lodge was in a perfect central position. Highly recommended

The Arcadia Lodge is tucked away from Russell but only a 10 min walk into town and the wharf. It felt good to have a quiet place to relax. Greg and Peter were very helpful with my dinner rez and served up a hearty breakfast each day with a morning view of the quiet cove. I was in the Tautoro room which is small, but enough for a solo. Be sure you check the room that meets your needs.

Location,Room,View,Service,Beach,restaurant advice the breakfast belongs in a Michelin Guide ,Peter and Greg who own the place are two top guys.Just spent six weeks in New Zealand staying in 14 wonderful places this and 1 other would be at the top my list Sad at the fact that we had to leave for the airport after 4 nights !!

We came with high expectations based on the reviews we read before travelling to New Zealand. And we can honestly say that the experience at Arcadia Lodge exceeded them all. The Bay of Islands region is fantastic, Kororāreka/Russell is superb, but this accommodation makes them even better as a destination. Besides the location and the property itself, the passion with which Greg and Peter run this place is awe-inspiring: from the tips they share about where to go, to the breakfast they provide in the morning and how well the place is kept, they made our stay an absolute delight.

Greg and Peter are the best hosts a lodge can have! Add that up to the beautiful Arcadia Lodge with their superior breakfast and you have the best thing in Russell! When wanting to visit the beautiful place of Russell make sure you stay at Arcadia Lodge. The lodge is situated on a hill with a stunning view of one of the bays in Russell and within walking distance of the center of Russell with it’s great restaurants.

Stayed for 3 nights in the Te Punga suite. A warm welcome and chat about the excellent facilities and locality. Very comfortable room and a delicious breakfast each morning. Peter & Greig were wonderful hosts. The lodge is within easy walking distance for restaurants. Directions for car parking and main entrance are by the main road entrance. Happy memories of our stay.
