We came to stay at the hotel for a Wedding for one night. Our stay at the hotel was short, thank goodness. When the two housekeepers got to the room, they decided to tell me it was humidity and not dirt. I didn’t know humidity can dirty a comforter. And if that's the case, I am assuming there is way too much humidity. After arguing that I wanted it changed, they finally did so. After that, I noticed crumbs all over the floor as this room has never been vacuumed between stays. At this point, I had to get ready for the Wedding and didn’t have time for another argument. For $200 at a Holiday Inn, I am expecting a clean room for me to get ready at and to sleep. I went to the Front Desk while I was leaving and yet again, hard to find somebody there so I waited for a little bit. I then told her my scenario and she said housekeeping left for the day and she would notify her manager. Never heard anything. Early that morning, we were checking out. Once again, I am saying “Excuse Me” because I see somebody in the office to the left of the Front Desk but nobody is acknowledging my presence. The lady finally comes out and tells me “oh, the manager gave you $20 off your stay.” I just wanted to leave because of the lack of customer service. That following Monday, I called the hotel and spoke to Linda, Director of Sales. She heard me out and basically told me I was a liar, because the housekeeping is so good, and there’s always somebody at the front desk. She said the last time somebody called to complain was 2 years ago, the reviews here show otherwise. She said she would get back to me and I have yet to hear from her. This just explains why I don’t believe what she has to say is not the case. I would have left if it wasn’t for the Wedding. I do not recommend staying here.

This was a perfect location to stay while visiting our son in Mt. Arlington. We had never been to New Jersey before. With the exception (unexplained..) of the fire alarm going off one night, this hotel was one of the QUIETEST places we've ever stayed. (Even though, I learned they had 3 wedding groups staying there). It's far back off the road, and next to a Hilton Homewood suites. The king-sized room was just right for 2 people. It has a pull out sofa but IMO (3) people would NOT be comfortable in the room, it's way too small. Very nice kitchen amenities (even a dishwasher), could allow 1-2 people to stay here several weeks if needed. We didn't use the pool (it has ALOT of restrictions during these Covid times). The room / hotel was impeccably clean. Very large parking lot (shared between the 2 hotels). Though the bathroom is small, due to the closet design, there's a long closet between the bathroom and the kitchen area (helping with air flow). Bed super comfortable and the shower was amazing. 2 ”less than great” things are: there's no housekeeping service during covid times (I did not want it DAILY, but believed it was 'on request'. ). You can get a towel refresh and shampoo, etc. but that's it. The breakfast (grab and go), like another writer mentioned, was just ...not good. The odd thing was that everything is individually wrapped (even the slices of bread to toast!) but: you're still touching the toaster handle, the microwave handle and buttons, etc. (doesn't make much sense). There were whole apples (maybe small fruit cups would be better) and the waffles did not taste good at all. Butter patties were frozen. Individual yogurts were a good idea, and the juice was good. Coffee is available 24/7. There were also some kind of breakfast sandwiches to ”nuke” but they didn't look good to me. IMO breakfast closed early on a weekend: 9am. A high point - the laundry room is very nice, very clean. But BE PREPARED with quarters -- it's $1.50 per load to wash or dry. (I always bring laundry pods and dryer sheets). Nearby: there is Rockaway Mall which (contrary to what another writer said) is really big (but fairly devoid of people). There are some restaurants around, and a Costo. But if you are used to buying alcohol / beer / wine etc. at a grocery store, you can't in NJ. We were dissappointed to find that the Shop Rite 'package store' section closed at 8pm on a Sunday. This hotel and the Hilton, do not have bars or restaurants on site. OVERALL -- very impressed with the hotel, and if you stay in Rockaway (not Dover), the area is very nice. We would 100% stay here again.
