I booked a night here on my way out of town to be close to the KEF airport since my friends were leaving the night before. The four-bed female dorms are great and the bathroom down the hall was always clean. Towels and linens are provided, as well as a great breakfast starting at 4 am for those trying to grab a bite before an airport pickup. I wish taxis weren't so expensive to go the 7 mins down the road (about 2 miles) -- we were charged 4000 kroners for 2 people (~$30) ... It would be nice if the hostel offered free airport shuttles, even at just set times 2-3x a day. But overall, great option for overnight by the airport and definitely the best budget location/bang for your buck.

I recommend this guesthouse if it is your final destination before leaving Iceland. I think a lot of people do not understand that this is not a luxury home; it is truly meant to host you for a single night before an early flight. The place is clean and safe. The bathrooms are communal and the rooms are relatively small (keep in mind rooms are usually small in Iceland). One thing I did not like is that at night, it can get very loud due to the winds. However, this is absolutely not the responsibility of the host, it is just something to keep in mind. The reason I gave this location 4 stars is that it is very affordable, in my opinion it is a waste of money to stay somewhere expensive on your last night next to the airport. It is also worth repeating that the place is very clean and safe.

Come molti, quando la pandemia ha colpito, abbiamo dovuto cancellare i nostri piani di viaggio, e questa è l'unica prenotazione che ha avuto un enorme problema. Abbiamo prenotato e pagato per un intero viaggio in Islanda, e abbiamo contattato tutti gli hotel, i trasferimenti e le visite per cancellare e ottenere rimborsi o buoni. Ogni altro luogo era disposto a lavorare con noi nelle circostanze – anche se la prenotazione non fosse rimborsabile - eccetto questa. Inizialmente ci è stato detto che potremmo cancellare e rischemare fino alla fine del 2021. Quando poi ci siamo impegnati a farlo, hanno detto che se cancelliamo, perderemo tutto il nostro denaro, sia che ci sia stato rischeduto o meno; dopo qualche argomento, ci sono stati ribadito che potremmo rischedere, ma hanno voluto che li pagassimo di più. Abbiamo rifiutato, e c'era più argomento, e infine abbiamo prenotato una data senza pagare più, e quando abbiamo ricevuto una conferma di prenotazione, ha detto che la nuova prenotazione potrebbe essere cancellata per un rimborso completo. E' ridicolo che per un soggiorno di una notte abbiamo dovuto trascorrere due o tre ore di discussione con rappresentanti diversi, quando ogni altra prenotazione – La maggior parte di loro è molto più costosa – trattandoci con cortesia ed efficienza. Quando è sicuro di ricorrere, intendiamo ri-book il viaggio esattamente come prima – l'unica eccezione è che non ri-book qui, perché erano così ingiustificati e stressanti da affrontare.

Abbiamo avuto un piacevole soggiorno all'hotel Alda. La posizione è perfetta, tutti i negozi e ristoranti sono vicini. Il personale della reception è amichevole. This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

Ho prenotato due camere perché viaggiavano in 5 : camere veramente molto piccole, quasi difficile muoversi .
Di positivo sicuramente c’era la pulizia, la cortesia dello staff che ci ha fornito la camera già al mattino , il parcheggio gratuito .
Avevo soggiornato molti anni fa euro redavo delle camere più grandi e spaziose anche se eravamo solo in due all’epoca . Diciamo che va bene come appoggio a Reykiavic ma non per lunghi soggiorni .comunque positivo

I have now been to three Keahotels, and all have been wonderful Reykjavík Lights is conveniently located, included breakfast and has on premise parking. The staff was very helpful and genuinely pleasant. If I were to nitpick, the towels, could be a little fluffier and the toilet paper a little softer, but you can always go buy toilet paper like I did, and the towels are not a dealbreaker.

Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

L'hotel è sul lato vecchio, ma la posizione è fantastica ed è stato ben mantenuto. Abbiamo apprezzato l'arte unica e l'atmosfera più antica, ma se vuoi elegante e moderno questo non è il posto che fa per te. La stanza era piccola rispetto all'America, ma completamente funzionante. La colazione tradizionale, in particolare i dolci, erano incredibili. Non abbiamo lamentele e abbiamo pensato che abbiamo fatto un ottimo affare.

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small.
It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik.
This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water.
If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

Quindi posso dire sinceramente che andremmo di nuovo, in realtà, siamo stati felici di tornare! L'ostello è pulito e confortevole e il personale è stato fantastico, così amichevole e utile. Il check-in tardivo per una delle nostre visite è stato anche super facile. Fate un colazione con una buona gamma di cibo bello - stile continentale del colazione. Le camere sono forse un po' variabili - una notte eravamo in una stanza gemella che era molto elementare, ma l'altra notte eravamo in una bella stanza studio. L'ostello ha diversi edifici sulla stessa strada, quindi immagino sia solo fortuna del disegno che è disponibile quando si prenota, ma entrambi erano puliti e confortevoli, quindi non ci sono denunce. Anche io direi che il prezzo era buono - ovviamente Reykjavik è generalmente molto costoso, ma non riuscivo a trovare un migliore affare di questo. La posizione era anche grande, su una tranquilla strada solo pochi minuti a piedi nel centro della zona turistica di Reykjavik.

UUtente ospiteKex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

Mi è stata assegnata la stanza proprio sopra l'ingresso principale come tale, può essere molto rumoroso ogni volta che la gente entra o esce dall'albero con la porta sbattere e qualche vibrazione si sente! Il bagno e il bagno sono abbastanza puliti e tempestosi. Molto gentile area comune per mescolare e fare nuovi amici. La cucina ha tutte le necessità di base. Mi piace soprattutto la piccola area fuori dalla mia stanza dove posso avere un pasto leggero e una bella vista dell'ambiente. Acquistato il biglietto per passeggeri illimitati attraverso l'app Klappid per viaggiare all'interno della capitale di Reykjavik e bus svc 12 è a pochi passi da qui. Se il tempo permette, si può anche camminare verso la zona costiera per vedere la vista. In generale, sono molto soddisfatto del mio soggiorno di 8 notti a Laekur Hostel!

UUtente ospiteAfter the hotel we booked, Reykjavík Downtown Hotel, was closed due to human trafficking, we had to quickly rebook a hotel, just two weeks before our trip. We booked Hotel Aska as the price was reasonable, and it looked like a very nice hotel (yes, the photos are accurate!). There were many great things about the hotel: 1) The staff were fantastic and very helpful when we had various issues, such as our room flooding (more about that later) and panicking when our bus to the hotel didn't show up. Also, to our surprise, when we arrived at 8am, the employee working that morning was able to find an available room so we could check in immediately -- I was not expecting to be checked in until that afternoon. We really appreciated that. Five stars for the staff! 2) The rooms were clean and a reasonable size. 3) There was a fridge and a kettle in the room (but no microwave). 4) Very comfortable bed with excellent pillows, and I loved how there were two single duvets for the double bed (at home, my husband and I each sleep with our own duvet). 5) A quiet location, and an easy 20 minute walk to downtown. There's also a grocery store a block away. 6) Good WiFi Now the cons: The shower stall (at least in room 304) didn't have a shower door, and the glass wall did not extend far enough, so water would get all over the bathroom floor. Extremely poor design. On our first morning (second day) at the hotel, I took a 15 minute shower, and when I got out, the bathroom floor was flooded and there was no drain, so I was kicking as much water as I could back into the shower stall. I then opened the bathroom door and saw that our hotel room had also flooded! It was a huge hassle having to move rooms but thankfully the staff were helpful and able to move us immediately. We were moved to room 401 and the shower had a proper door that fully closed and there was no further flooding. Despite the flooding, I would give the hotel four stars, but the reason for the two stars (and it's only two stars because of the staff, or I would give it one star) is that I was not able to get a good night's sleep the entire duration of my trip (three nights). The room was too hot, and despite turning off the heat and having the windows open the entire time, it was sweltering. And in room 401, the WiFi router or something was behind the flatscreen TV, and the entire wall lit up with flashing lights from all the electronics. I had to stuff towels over the lights to try and dim them. Aska is a lovely hotel, but if you can't sleep in hot rooms with flashing lights, I would suggest elsewhere.

UUtente ospiteOttimo albergo. Camera familiare di dimensioni favolose per 2 adulti e 2 adolescenti - letti grandi e comodi adeguati per tutti e senza divani letto! Deliziosa colazione a buffet con cibi caldi e freddi.
Ci piace la posizione che è a circa 20 minuti dal centro città ma locale per una fantastica piscina con molte sorgenti termali di temperatura variabile. L'hotel aveva un parcheggio gratuito, quindi era molto comodo per noi con un'auto a noleggio. Anche la spa all'interno dell'hotel era un vantaggio. Il ristorante e il bar all'interno dell'hotel servono ottimo cibo. Tutto il personale è stato cordiale e disponibile. Se mai dovessimo tornare in Islanda, torneremo sicuramente qui.

DDNYFIn generale, la posizione dell'hotel e la cena sono buone. Il servizio non è molto amichevole, ma.... Il corno del caffè è scaduto da acqua, caffè e acqua calda. La signora del desk front è stata molto utile quando ho le domande.
