The public area gets rather crowded at times, especially the pool. The Hotel is a tag overrated I believe. The room is decent but the facilities are lacking. Would be nice to have more choices of food choices and such.

Location assolutamente spettacolare in mezzo alla natura, pieno di scimmie, aguti e anche qualche bradipo, tutti facili da vedere da vicino all'interno dell'hotel. Molto belle le 2 piscine, personale gentilissimo e ottima la colazione à la carte con diverse possibilità tra cui scegliere. Camera molto molto grande e lussuosa con tutti i comfort. Da menzionare la presenza di una spiaggia privata, anch'essa ben servita di tutti i comfort, raggiungibile tramite golf cart. Sicuramente non economico ma vale la spesa per vivere un'esperienza difficilmente ripetibile.

È uno dei posti più belli in Costa Rica!! Rilassante e immerso tra la natura e gli animali. Noi amiamo gli animali e siamo davvero rimasti contenti di averne visti tantissimi!! Abbiamo visto anche il bradipo. La camera era super pulita, I servizi sono super efficienti e veloci. C’è anche il servizio navetta per andare alla spiaggia. Consigliamo tantissimo! Inoltre l’hotel si trova a 10 minuti dal parco riserva naturale Manuel Antonio! Ottima posizione!

Ho soggiornato con il mio compagno al Makanda hotel ed è stata un'esperienza fantastica. Siamo stati nella penthouse, una suite curata in ogni minimo dettaglio, il design unico, letto comodissimo e bagno da lasciare senza parole. È presente anche una piscina privata con una vista sull'oceano. La struttura è immersa nel verde, ci sono due piscine, due bar ed un ristorante. C'è la possibilità di fare aperitivo con musica dal vivo, dove si possono bere ottimi cocktail e cibo. Il personale è cortese e sempre pronto ad aiutarti. Consiglio a tutti di provare questo bellissimo hotel, non ve ne pentirete.

This hotel represents true luxury. I've never been so amazed by a resort experience. The food is outstanding, the rooms are beautiful, the staff is incredibly attentive, and the views are stunning—an absolute top-notch experience! Check-in at La Makanda was smooth and informative, located on the mountainside, offering a clean and beautiful reception area. We were welcomed with a complimentary drink, which we could enjoy immediately or save for the next day. The staff provided us with extensive information and personally escorted us to our room. The room and its view were absolutely spectacular! The room had a Bose speaker which we enjoyed our entire trip, Britt espresso machine, and a fully stocked mini-bar. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the white stone rock and wood plank floors around the area were very beautiful. We had two porches: one at the rear of the room which looked out to lush plants and trees and a larger one overlooking more lush trees, plants, and the Pacific Ocean. We sat there every day and listened to the howler monkeys and birds chirping. The dining experience was superb with five-star quality food. Even my picky-eater husband loved every meal, thanks to the attentive staff who catered to our every need. I can't praise La Makanda enough. I even got emotional when we checked out, it was such an incredible stay. While we typically don't revisit hotels, we are already planning to return here without hesitation. I highly recommend La Makanda for an unforgettable stay!

We would definitely like to come back. The resort has a very funky cool vibe. The staff is so warm and friendly. The location is great and the views are out of this world. I actually wish we'd booked this one for a longer stay. The beach is a short walk away and is semi private. We were able to see toucans and sloths at breakfast. It was very rainy the days we were there so I did not get to have monkeys come visit our balcony but was told it's super common to have them visit and even come into the hotel rooms if you don't lock your sliders. That's probably the only thing that would have made this stay any better.

After a horrible experience at a hotel down the street, my boyfriend and I walked to Makanda to see if they had any accomodations last minute. The Makanda staff were very accomodating and understanding to our misfortune at the previous Hotel. Makanda was actually the one hotel that I wanted to stay at from the beginning but since the other hotel was running a special and the stay was significantly lower we thought we would be fine at the 4 star resort down the street. It turns out that it was a costly experience and not a 4 star at all. We were so happy at the 5 Star Makanda and wanted to point out some examples of the Hospitality that was shown at this Hotel. Morning Breakfast was amazing, we were greeted every morning with a wonderful staff and the most beautiful fresh fruit platter. The front office were very helpful with tours and guidance on what to explore on our visit. The Manager introduced himself and also was very hospitable. The staff always addressed us by our names and were very warm to us. We absolutely loved the salt water pool with the swim up bar right outside our room. The night sunsets were stunning. I come from a Hospitality background and I just want to say the staff at this hotel have what it takes to make the experience wonderful, especially after we were mistreated at the other hotel. The Hotel is Amazing, very picturesque and is set up on a jungle hill where we were greeted with sloths and Monkeys every day. The ocean view was stunning.

From the moment we arrived at Makanda we were greeted with open arms. Everyone was so welcoming and willing to help us navigate our trip since it was our first time in Costa Rica. The room was Amazing and I mean AMAZING (we stayed in the WOW Suite). They thought of every detail to make your stay the most luxurious as possible. Food… the food was hands down delicious! The second night we ventured out because we wanted to try a restaurant at the marina… big mistake…it was gross and we spent $200 and took like 3 bites (that never happens we love to eat)! Highlight of our trip was that we got to meet the owners and hang out with them!! Super welcoming and generous couple!! I did a body scrub at the spa (which I’ve been to many spas not outside of the US) and it was the best treatment I have ever received!! Thank you to Andres, Roger, Byron, Judith, Louise, Milton and all the rest (I apologize if I left your name out). You were all Wonderful!! If you have been this resort…just book it…you won’t be disappointed!!

We stayed at Makanda by the Sea for our 30th anniversary. The resort exceeded all our expectations. The property is as beautiful in person as in the photos. The staff went out of their way to insure we had a great stay. We were even upgraded to a better room for our anniversary. If you’re looking for a place to relax and feel pampered while enjoying the gorgeous rainforest, this is your place. We loved our time here.
