Hotel Xaloc Playa

The hotel is located directly across the road from the beach and a 2 minute walk to the local restaurants. Punta Prima is extremely quiet, mainly seafood restaurants, 4 supermarkets and a pharmacy. The bar that leads on to the beach is really the only one where you can just sit and have a drink without food. There are a couple of outdoor market stalls that set up late afternoon into the evening. Be prepared for the mosquitos at night! The hotel is 3 star but the staff and service is 4 star. The staff at the bar, the dining room, Reception, housekeeping and maintenance are all equally helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. I would say the staff are the key part of this hotel. The hotel is well cleaned throughout, from the rooms to the pool and grounds and communal areas. We had a lovely clean but basic room facing the sea with a balcony. There was a shower over the bath that was powerful enough. The room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels were given, although the bath towels were more the size of hand towels! The beds were comfortable with extra pillows and blankets if required. The air con was more than adequate and free. You had to pay for your safe with a 10 euro deposit. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom. The restaurant was simple, bearing in mind it is only a 3 star hotel there wasn't an abundance of choice it was simple but it was enough, hot and plentiful. Breakfast was excellent, with hot buffet, self service tea and coffee, juices, pastries, yoghurts and fruit. I have a severe mushroom allergy so had to ask a couple of times to check food didn't contain mushrooms, the chef was always on hand to ask and confirm. Drink orders were taken at your table as soon as you sat down for your evening meal, you paid for these when you left the dining room. There were snacks at the outside pool bar during the day and although we didn't have any they looked delicious and were large portions. The drinks at the bar including hot drinks were cheaper than outside the hotel. If you fancied snacks outside of the hotel I can recommend the snack bistro on the corner, Royal Cafe Bistro, but it's only open from 8am - 3pm. They serve the best milkshakes and coffee. The pool was lovely, plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds, although they were very old and a few need replacing. There is plenty of shade on one side that doesn't really get the sun. There is a small mini golf area. This hotel is very peaceful and perfect for couples who want a relaxing time. There is entertainment 3 times a week but we didn't bother. The bus service to Mahon is hourly from the side of the hotel and the ting ting train goes directly to Binebeca. We got a taxi to Mahon for 14 euros from the taxi rank just down the road. The beach itself wasn't that nice, there was a lot of seaweed and it was just rotting away on the sand. We are beach people but ended up staying around the pool due to the amount of seaweed on the beach and in the sea. We wouldn't visit again due to t

We have just returned home from the Hotel Xaloc Playa. My husband and I stayed for two weeks and we have definitely had the most wonderful two weeks. It's location is right opposite the beach and we headed down a few mornings to watch the sunrise. The staff, every single member worked incredibly hard and were always polite. From the moment we walked in we knew we had made the right choice. Please don't book if you want a large hotel with tons of entertainment. This hotel offers something a little more low key. Entertainment is not every night but about three times a week and was always very good with a good mixture of styles. Wonderful Menorcan musicians. The food was really lovely, both breakfast and evening meal. Always plenty of choice and delicious. There is also a poolside bar which was open all day and evening. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool. Also a little putting course which we did one morning, which was fun. Our room was really nice, overlooking the pool. Comfy beds, large shower and a balcony. We actually couldn't fault this gem of a hotel. It's location is close to Mahon and had a regular and reliable bus service. From Mahon it is easy to catch buses to other locations around the island. A little ting ting train also runs along the coast to Binibeca. The Cami de Cavells path passes through Punta Prima and if you like walking it is a really good spot for some super walks. Would we return? Yes we absolutely would and hope to do so next year.

What a lovely hotel this is and so peaceful with trees surrounding the pool. Our second visit and just as enjoyable for a short break. Punta Prima is a small resort so ideal for a quiet relaxing long weekend or even a longer holiday if you want a peaceful location. The restaurant is a little more like a cafeteria and can get very noisy but pleasant and there is a smaller quieter area if you can get a table there that overlooks the garden area at the front. Thank you to all the staff and specially the cleaning staff who were exceptional. I particularly like the fact that the beach is very near to the hotel and there is a bus stop nearby to get into Mahon.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Xaloc hotel. Excellent location across the road from the beach. We had a nice room overlooking the pool. Bed was extremely comfortable and there was a lovely big shower. The staff in the dining room were so pleasant and courteous. The food was very good as well. However the dining room itself lacks any ambience and is more like a cafe. The sunbeds by the pool were very uncomfortable so we went to the beach most days. The hotel provides entertainment three nights a week which is a blessing as Punta Prima is very quiet and has no bars. We stayed for a week which was enough for us.

We had a wonderful time in this resort. The staff were all very friendly from the reception to the waiters and servers and even the maintenance staff/ manager. He repaired my son's watermelon buoy. It had a hole. The food was really great, I had never had such varied and tasty frood from any 3 star hotels in Spain nor Greece. It was a great surprise. We also loved the shows, for a week we saw 3 different shows and they were all different, my 11 year old son enjoyed it as well. The whole vibe of the hotel was very relaxed, the pool area is very welcoming with the garden. The rooms are cleaned every day..It's very charming but the staff is the secret to this hotel.
