Catalonia Las Vegas (Only Adults)

The.hotel is by far past its sell by date, in need of some tlc & injection of funds to bring it up to 4* standard. The location is brilliant, staff are wonderful & very friendly. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy & have a fridge & safe, 20 euros a week plus deposit, a little steep in my opinion.. in general everything is aimed for the spanish, which is fair enough afterall you are in spain however we are used to the south of the island so don't come here expecting entertainment all day long, cheap 3 course meals, loud music & sandy beaches. Pool area is just ok although apart from robotic cleaner we haven't seen it cleaned once in the surrounding pool area. Gardens however are kept immaculate. We found the whole resort to be very quiet, meals all the same in practically every restaurant as they are all owned & run by the same few companies. Food in the hotel is not to our liking, breakfast ok but lunch & dinner we are struggling, its chips burgers & hotdog sausage, fish everyday loads of salad but only a couple of choices of meat although chicken or pork is cooked fresh on the grill, just.nothing to go with it except canarian potatoes or chips. Obligatory pasta & sauce, paella & a few dessert cakes, fruit & and ice cream. Drinks are quite expensive in hotel, we found cheaper to drink outside locally. Entertainment starts at 10pm far too late as boredom kicks in waiting,, again, its dire for the English although again we are used to the south with tribute groups & varied acts. It's a relaxed resort which others love but it's not for us. Hotel overall is great if you just want a clean comfy place to relax & do nothing but for a fortnight for us, its getting quite tiresome.

Overall a very good place and excellent value for money. The hotel is in a relaxed location up the hill from the centre of town. The hotel is very well presented with some very appealing communal areas. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was very big and spotlessly clean. Special mention to the turbo powered showers. We had balcony overlooking the pool that was very relaxing. We only had breakfast one day but it was a very good standard. Only a couple of minor complaints. Most of the sunbeds were in a fixed position making it at times a bit uncomfortable. Many tiles were missing from the pool making it look a bit tatty. But overall would definitely recommend this hotel.

L'hotel è situato in modo spettacolare, le strutture sono un po' datate ma molto molto pulite, soprattutto il bagno, la piccola piscina è bella e pulita. Consigliato
Hotel Vallemar

Recently stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights (16th to 19th January) in a fabulous location overlooking the beach and surrounding area of Puerto de la Cruz. We booked a Superior Room with Sea View and were not disappointed. Fabulous views from our balcony. Very welcoming staff on Reception, beautiful well maintained grounds, beautiful roof top pool area with adjoining Restaurant. First class food great quality in Restaurant and buffet breakfast (absolutely everything you could ask for and so fresh) locally produced. Rooftop Restaurant for lunch was fabulous. Menus extensive and all cooked fresh. Restaurant Staff Exceptional, courteous and friendly. Plenty of room around the pool, and no-one getting up early to bag a bed. Top Class Hotel and Staff. Just one minor point to make and this is not a criticism, we would like tea/coffee making facilities in the room. It's just our personal preference to get up early in the morning and sit on the beautiful balcony watching the world go buy listening to the waves crash with a cup of tea or coffee before going down to the fabulous breakfast buffet. Thank you all staff a ValleMar, we will be back.
Hotel Monopol

Wanted to be sure as possible of a good break after a harrowing year so I read many hundreds of reviews before selecting the Monopol for a two week stay in March, and I am delighted I did! The perfect location and architecture are already well covered so I will move straight on to the negative issues raised in other reviews of which most (though not all) turned out to be unfounded. Like any hotel which never closes its doors the rooms, by necessity, are refurbished on a rotating basis. The room I was given was clearly recently renovated, lovely shower and plenty of storage, basic but attractive furniture and two single beds pushed together. No kettle, limited tv channels and poor in-room wi-fi (free wi-fi works perfectly in the beautiful patio area) but for a 3* hotel a lovely room all round. A special thank you to the cleaning staff who did a wonderful job and made me feel so at home! Despite being close to the old centre, crowd noise was never an issue. The hotel is not really on a main thoroughfare and the excellent street music was never intrusive. The church does chime the quarter hours from 7 am till 11pm but after a couple of days is just seemed to fade into the pleasant ambience. Rooms not facing the church would probably barely hear it. The free breakfast buffet is copious and extensive, but I think even Oliver would decide that one serving was enough. As a Brit I have to say that the bacon was an affront to the pig that provided it, and the sausage (if indeed it could be classed as sausage) an abomination. Plenty of fresh fruit and various cheese and processed meat slices if that’s your thing. Unlimited cereals to top up on as a backstop. Bread is thoughtfully provided stale for easy toasting. Coffee and juice machines are actually quite good, though busy even in the quiet period of my visit. There is a restaurant, the ‘Don Carlos’ which operates in a portion of the hotel and is clearly associated with it, but which the hotel seems reluctant to acknowledge. Understandably perhaps as it is a total tourist trap, leeching off the hotels beautiful location and providing awful, overpriced meals to passing trade (I suspect they probably have the breakfast contract). There are 50 better dining places within a 10 minute walk. But (rant over) I would recommend the Monopol unreservedly as the perfect base for a visit to Puerto de la Cruz for those who are not looking for a 24-hour Ibiza type experience or a luxury spa hotel with hot and cold running flunkies. For £1000 a week more you would perhaps get a better breakfast and probably a kettle, but you would find yourself in a characterless chrome and glass citadel perched high above the town, isolated from the beautiful beach and downtown area by a gruelling 30-minute hike. It is said that location is everything and the best location in Puerto de le Cruz is the Monopol hotel.
Checkin Concordia Playa

Let me start by saying that I am a Tour Guide. I don't write reviews, generally speaking, but at the reception of the Tenerife hotel check-in Concordia playa of the Canary Islands, Alba, at the reception was truly fantastic, empathetic and extremely professional at a critical moment of my holiday. Unfortunately I had to advance my flight to return home and she was truly invaluable for everything, including finding a transfer to the airport which was very difficult to find because everyone was fully booked. Alba was really super professional, she managed to pay attention to me to solve my problem and at the same time she awaited the requests of other hotel guests. She was really great. Not all hotel receptionists would have had the same professional attention and care to the customers. Thanks so mucho Alba. I wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best.
