After researching a number of different family friendly all inclusive resorts, we decided to book the Princess Maya Riviera Family club because of the ammenitities geared to families with children. Here is my extensive review because 1) there is very little information available on the Princess website 2) most reviews lack helpful information and 3) Almost all youtube videos are either promos or just "we had a good time" vlobs. A bit of background - we are a family of 5 from Atlanta. Three kids under 6. Adults well traveled Asia, Europe, Africa. Our oldest has been resorts in Mexico and DR. Summary: The family club is geared towards families, however I would not have booked if I had known some of the things I learned during our week at the resort. (details below) The physical grounds are well kept, lots of wildlife, very clean. The building/property is in mixed repair. Some areas like the swim up pools look rough (need regrouting) , some parts of the external facade are in series disrepair (we noticed part of one of the sturcture missing a big chunk of stucco near the roof). But the rooms are generally in good condition. We had some issues with the plumbing (lack of hot water around 5PM when all the families are getting kids cleaned up for dinner, lack of water pressure at the same time, issues with getting the shower to stop dripping water). A few other observations, very few outlet plugs in our room or they weren't conveniently located. Screen door was completely busted. TV had a big dark vertical line, guessing it had been hit or dropped, remote control also very non responsive. All in all, this is a good resort of you are looking for a budget option for a family or if it's your first time at an all-inclusive. Just be prepared for upcharges everywhere (Not all kids club activities are included, upcharge for "top shelf" liquors, and upcharge for certain food items - more details below) Pros: Coldest mini fridge of any all inclusve resort I've ever been to, always well stocked with drinks. The ice cream parlor is least talked about ammenity, but for our kids it was the highlight. As expected, the fruit was great. The Princess App is sort of both a Pro and a Con, you can find alot more information on the app but the interface is not friendly, way too many clicks to get to very basic information (more detail below). Complimentary beach/water toys, pirate doll, robes, and slippers for the kids in the family club room was a nice touch. Cons: Food quality & variety was a major issue for us. It's better than Golden Coral, but as it compares to other all inclusives we have been to this resort falls short. Suprisingly the offerings of mexican cuisine seemed to be the weakest. The guacamole was bland, did not taste like it was freshly made, almost reminded me of the processed premade guacamole you buy in supermarkets in the US. No chilaquiles on the breakfast buffet - but were available as an upcharge at the beach for breakfast...what? No agu
