The Lotus is a budget two-star hotel, situated in a small soi off a main road, with its main selling point being the close proximity to the shopping, nightlife and entertainment areas of Patong. Bangla Road can be walked to in under ten minutes. It is also only a leisurely ten-minute walk to Patong Beach. Banzaan market, Bangla Boxing Stadium and Jungceylon can be walked to in around five to seven minutes. The hotel itself is in the old Lanna style and it is showing signs of wear and tear in some areas. However, it has been reasonably well maintained. Our room was of a good size with most amenities provided for a comfortable stay. Tea, coffee, two bottles of water and toilet paper are provided each day upon room clean. The bed is reasonably firm but we found it very comfortable and slept well each night. If you have a room near the front as we did, it can be quite noisy from traffic on the main road but it never concerned us too much. WIFI could be frustrating at times; often when we returned we found we had to switch floor numbers on our WIFI search. Generally though the signal was quite strong. The shower was very good, a rain shower with strong water flow and steady heat. The bathroom itself had that musty smell that many older establishments in Thailand seem to have in their bathrooms. In the area outside the hotel there are numerous restaurants offering great Thai food at very reasonable prices; APK Resort just down the road was one of our favourite places to eat. There is also a Family Mart and pharmacy only fifty metres away on the main road. The staff at the Lotus take a lot of warming to, they are rather introverted and do not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This is rather an anomaly in Thailand but it was no big issue for us. If we asked for any advice or assistance they did provide it, just not always with a smile! For the price, around five to six hundred baht out of high seaso,n the Lotus represents very good value.

It seems I was given a small standard room rather than the deluxe room I had booked, looking again at the pictures on *********** . A very small room, quite dark as the window only looked out onto the wall of the building 5ft away so had no direct light. As it also faced a window in the next building, I kept the curtains closed when in the room. It also had a bad smell the first night, which did disappear, once the room had been occupied for a day The small bed was bad, one side creaked & groaned whenever you moved on it. A very small bathroom which was quite grotty. The room had very little sound insulation. I was woken up every single night by the people upstairs above me 12am-2am. If the hotel was busy, I'm certain the noise issues would be a lot worse however I spent my 1st evening here looking for other hotels for my remaining 2 nights in Patong, before deciding to put up with it, rather than pay for another hotel I wouldn't stay here again, I would pay more for better accommodation
