My husband and I stayed here at The Palace Hotel & Spa for a week (23/09-27/09/24) for our 7 year wedding anniversary. It was our 1st time staying here. We have stayed at their sister hotels The Queen's (Paignton) & The Headland (Torquay). The room was stunning comfy bed very clean too. We had an evening in the pod for a romantic meal which was out of this world. The bar staff Chloe & Benji were amazing & made us feel very welcome sad to see Benji leave. However my experience of the massage was horrendous my back was severely bruised & couldn't sleep. I paid £55 for a southing aromatherapy massage & I was left in agony & still am.

Great hotel on the beach

I couldn’t fault the staff, they were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location and has a lift to reach all floors. Good size lounge area (to relax and for the entertainment) and large dining room. There’s an added bonus of a small heated swimming pool (remember to book a time slot) I had a small single room which was all I needed as I was a solo guest and just used it as a base to sleep in. However, the room was quite tired looking. It was generally clean apart from mould on the bathroom ceiling. There was flaking paint and a lot of loose threads on the tops of the curtains. The shower door was stiff to shut properly but it was a good shower albeit a bit on the small side but was ok for me. I wasn’t keen on the full length mirror being on the door opposite the end of the bed, it would perhaps be better on the wardrobe door. Good storage for clothes with the chest of drawers and wardrobe, although only a few hangers. Fine for me as I only stayed a couple of days. Teas/coffees etc were restocked daily. At the end of my trip I stripped the bed, as I always do, to help out and was a little shocked to see a large stain on the mattress and stains on one of the pillows. There was a mattress protector on the bed as well as a sheet so I wasn’t entirely disgusted but maybe give the mattress a deep clean and replace pillows more regularly. Despite the small negatives, there were many positives and I would stay here again.
