Hotel Mount View

We stayed at this so-called hotel for two days in April 2025, and the experience was nothing short of a disaster. We booked it through MakeMyTrip, which irresponsibly lists it as a 4-star property. Let’s be clear—this place doesn’t even deserve 2 stars, let alone 4. Yes, the rooms were decently clean, but everything else was absolutely pathetic—from the dismal food to the miserable condition of the common areas. Before checking in, we called the hotel to confirm its star rating. Not only did they deny being 4-star, they threw in a vague “A category” label, which is a nonsense excuse for dodging any real classification. When we raised this with MakeMyTrip, they kept pushing the same scripted lie, insisting it’s a 4-star hotel. Shame on both the hotel and MakeMyTrip for this misleading representation. For anyone considering this place, do your own research. A simple Google search reveals the truth—TripAdvisor, which the hotel itself proudly lists as a partner, categorizes it as a 3-star hotel. Yet the hotel staff flat-out denies this too. It’s pure deception and manipulation. To make things worse, the entire premises was under noisy, dusty construction, reeking of enamel and paint. The common toilets were in a disgusting, unusable condition. The food was so bad we had to leave the property and eat elsewhere—at places like ITC Peak and Pine and Hotel Heevan Resort—just to have a decent meal. The only saving grace—and I say this with emphasis—is that the hotel is centrally located in the Pahalgam market area, which fortunately made it easier to survive the nightmare that was their in-house dining. That location is the only thing that kept this experience from being a total write-off. Overall, this was hands down the worst hotel of our entire trip. Avoid it unless you’re willingly signing up for disappointment.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth We were allotted this hotel as part of our Kashmir package booked through MakeMyTrip. To our surprise, it was listed as a 4-star hotel on their platform, whereas it’s rated as a 3-star elsewhere, including Google. When I raised this discrepancy with the MakeMyTrip tour coordinator, my concerns were brushed aside with empty assurances of a good experience. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. We arrived around 5 PM after a long day of travel only to find that our rooms were not ready. After waiting for them to be cleaned, we were given a room that felt poorly maintained and unwelcoming. Upon raising our concerns, we were moved to a different room, which seemed better—until we realized the carpet was damp, soaking through our socks. When we informed the front desk, we were told the carpets had been shampooed that morning and advised to run the heater for 30 minutes to dry it. Even after 4 hours, the floor remained wet. Maintenance staff initially denied the issue, but it took a demonstration using tissue paper to convince the manager. As there were no alternative rooms available, we were simply told to "compromise." Beyond the carpet issue, the overall condition of the hotel is subpar and certainly doesn’t live up to any 4-star standards. Open wires, uncovered electrical points, broken doors, and unfinished wardrobes all added to the poor impression. I’ve attached photos to show the reality. ( The pics with wooden flooring are from the first room and the others from the second room with carpet flooring) It makes one wonder if MakeMyTrip has some sort of arrangement with this hotel, as they continued to allocate it to us despite our concerns—an experience that felt more like customer exploitation than genuine service. The only redeeming aspect of this property is the scenic view it offers, but sadly, that alone cannot make up for such a disappointing stay.

Below average property, not value for money. Having said that there is no good hotel in the middle budget category. I guess to have a hotel that has basic services and clean you will need to shell out over INR 10,000 per night at a hotel like Hotel Pahalgam or Heevan at 20000. Our main issue we had no hot water on arrival day 1. We were told to leave the taps flowing and the got water would flow out. However we had no luck. Finally at night the guy figured out the valve was shut has there was a leakage under the wash basin. Even when water started flowing it was dark brown in colour. Were again advised to leave the hot water flowing for the brown water to clear out. It again no luck. The same issue persisted the next morning. Either no hot water or dark brown water. We have been here for over 24 hours now and nothing has been fixed. Just lame excuses by the management. They keep sending staff to check who have no clue about the issue leave ***** how to fix it. Please see attached pictures. The ordinary staff as usual are nice but ill trained to resolve issues. Cleanliness and hygiene is something they do not seem to have a clue about. We would have checked out and paid more at a better accommodation but stuck here as it is prepaid through a third party and the hotel will not cancel or refund. A pity because the hotel is well located by the river side and can get a premium price by improving basic services. I find the lack of hot water or clean hot water absolutely unacceptable. A clean comfortable bed for a good sleep and a clean working toilet and shower are the most basis essentials of any hotel. Cannot recommend, if you are looking for a budget hotel, please try elsewhere, not worth the price. And I hope the management will not come up with some more lame excuses in response to this review as there was no good reason.. Had there been a problem they would have known or told us and fixed it in 24 hours. I can only guess that the hot water storage tanks need a good clean, removing all the accumulated sand.

Staff were not cooperative. No light after power cut. No central heater was on. Pahalgam was closed and they took booking. We were into trap. Also we request to cancel as everything was closed there but they did not cancel. It is like dracula house. Pls do not ignore where review given is 1. Pls avoid.

Mountview at Pahalgam is an excellet abode to stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are friendly and extremely cooperative. The view from the room is highly scenic and pleasant.The food there is very delicious. We really enjoyed the stay there.

Service was poorest, room was not ready even at 5:30 pm. Secondary Rs. 20/- MRP of water bottle they are giving in Rs. 80/-
