Hotel in zona Harlem, New York

Me and Harlem go way back. Aloft Harlem used to be my go to hotel before I started staying more on the lower east side. In fact, a Marriott employee who used to work at Aloft directed me to this brand new, just opened hotel. I was excited to return to uptown and stay in this spot! I wanted to love this hotel. I don’t like giving lackluster reviews and feeling like a Karen. But over two nights, the transgressions just piled up. I’m a Marriott ambassador who stays in hotels about 240 nights a year. I never bring up my status. This might be the first time I actually uttered in frustration, “it’s September and I’ve already spent 27,000 dollars at these hotels, why is this so hard?” Upon checkin, it took almost an hour. This is even more frustrating because my first night was business and my company always sends a spending authorization. Two days in a row I checked with the hotel to see if they had received the authorization. They lost the first one. They mismanaged the second one. I always call or chat ahead to ensure a smooth checkin. It was still a mess when I arrived. The room was a “Central Park view.” I should have known better; I don’t know why I believed this title. I know New York geography better than that. I was looking into a building. Central Park facing or in the direction of Central Park shouldn’t be called central park view. I had changed from the city view to the Central Park view before arrival and I guess I’m glad I did because while they were trying to figure out my reservation they mentioned they had oversold the city view rooms. I will say the black out shades do a great job. The bed was fine. Sheets were a little co****. This hotel costs close to what a Moxy costs, so their sheets should be comparably smooth and comfortable. The bathroom was an absolute joke. Maybe not all the rooms are like mine, but mine may as well not have had a door. As you can see in my photos, the door is for “art.” There is a huge gap where you can see everything! Like probably 12 inches or greater of a gap! Who designed this and thought it was a great idea?! Glad I was alone. The air unit is SUPER loud. Doesn’t bother me as much since we usually have a fan on at home, but it was so loud that when it came on, I had to turn the TV up. It will likely bother some people. And you can hear everything through the walls. Oh, and the toilet clogged twice. And one of the days, the hot water was off all day for repairs, though that’s out of anyone’s control. It’s just giving context to a very un-relaxing stay. Back to the front desk mess—I later noted a destination fee on my bill (I had two separate bills because one night was business and one was personal). I don’t mind destination fees—I’ve had them at many Marriott properties. But I was never informed of this one. I even asked at the restaurant, and they had no idea. I was in NYC for medical reasons. Needed a convenient location since we’d be ride-sharing to and from the medical center daily for 10 days. We stayed in a 2 bed with private bath. Nice sized room. Desk/counter, 1 chair, nightstand, Bench, good sized mini fridge and a coffee maker. Free WiFi. Walk-in shower. Bath: Tile floors. Room: Hardwood floors, no Carpet! Air conditioned and a heater was provided. We had 1 Large sized Twin and 1 Large sized Full/Queen bed. Hotel sits at the corner. There are STEPS, maybe 10 stairs to get to the main door. Coded entry and a Tap feature for your room. After hours check-in/check-out. Outside relaxing area. No Smoking inside the property. We were a block or two away from the city stores and eateries. Maybe a 10 minute ride to Central Park. Each ride was about $7-$10 one-way. The Staff and Housekeeping were very nice. Since we stayed longer, we opted for no housekeeping. It is available, if you like. The room was very neat and clean. We brought along a electric skillet for our meals. The freezer held 3 bags of the frozen bag meals. They also provided black washcloths to prevent staining. I liked that. Storage shelf in the bathroom. Room: Storage shelf with hangers and hooks. There was a Safe to use. I really enjoyed my stay. When I do return to that area, I Will stay there again. Cons: Not ADA accessible Steps-only because I had surgery. TV-though it was mounted, it doesn’t have a swivel. So it just faces the large bed. Overall, I Did enjoy my stay. 100% There was 1 issue, a guest was smoking inside, but it was handled. No other issues. Nice lighting in the room and bathroom, if your wearing makeup or tryin to get a smooth shave.

Quando è arrivata mia figlia ha avuto problemi a far accettare la sua prenotazione (pagata in anticipo). Alla fine l'addetto alla reception le ha dato una piccola stanza, fino a quando mia moglie è arrivata e si è lamentata, a quel punto le è stata data una vera. Alla fine del soggiorno, l'hotel aveva addebitato una ”tassa di servizio” di $ 33 al giorno. Nessuna questione di scelta, addebitato sulla carta di credito. Pura truffa, modo per mostrare una figura di punta più economica per la stanza. Peccato. In passato era visto come ”l'hotel della mamma” perché lei soggiornava lì a New York. Forse sotto una nuova gestione ora?

L'hotel è buono e la posizione è favolosa. Forse questo fa sì che il personale non si preoccupi dei clienti poiché sa che le persone porteranno comunque affari in quel luogo. Penso che il personale debba capire che non è necessario che siano di natura così inospitale e inospitale. Non ti guardano nemmeno anche se stai aspettando lì per 2-3 ore. Ho raggiunto 2 ore di anticipo e ho deciso di sedermi nella hall quando erano le 15:05. Ho chiesto la stanza mentre facevo il check-in prima, l'host ha detto per favore aspetta lì e mi ha mostrato brevemente la sua mano che indicava dritto. Ora è estremamente impegnata e vuole farmi capire che mi ha chiesto di stare in piedi indicando dritto. Non capendo il suo gesto della mano, sono tornato a sedermi e alle 3:20 sono andato di nuovo da lei (badate bene che è molto impegnata non ti guarda nemmeno anche se stai aspettando proprio davanti a lei). Questa volta ha detto oh non hai resistito, quindi il mio collega non ti ha aiutato. Anche se era seduto proprio davanti alla scrivania. È stato allora che l'ho perso perché ero affamato, stanco ed esausto e ho detto ”Potrei svenire ora, non posso continuare ad aspettarti onestamente”. È stato allora che mi ha consegnato immediatamente una chiave. La mia domanda e', se puo' dare una chiave perche' tanta seccatura a qualcuno che ha fatto il check-in 2 ore prima? Cos'è questo piacere sadico? Comunque ragazzi, potete andare lì, aspettatevi solo che lo staff abbia un atteggiamento ”non mi interessa”. Il personale pensa che i soldi che abbiamo speso per la loro stanza siano qualcosa a cui hanno diritto. La stanza era piccola ma pulita, che era la mia priorità.

Ho soggiornato una notte per lavoro e ho trovato il personale molto gentile. Le camere sono un po' datate, ma sono servite allo scopo. La mia camera puzzava di prodotti per la pulizia (in senso positivo) all'ingresso. Buona posizione nel distretto finanziario con opzioni di trasporto, cibo e bev tutt'intorno. Facile passeggiata per il commercio mondiale. La costruzione ha fatto vibrare la stanza al mattino.

La posizione dell'hotel è imbattibile.Puoi raggiungere a piedi Central Park, Times Square e innumerevoli famose attrazioni di Manhattan.Vicino alla stazione della metropolitana, il trasporto è molto conveniente. Anche il servizio dell'hotel è molto buono, l'asciugacapelli e la macchina del caffè sono stati inviati alla reception per telefono, la camera era pulita e ordinata. È praticamente pieno, il che fa sì che gli ascensori siano molto stretti e debbano aspettare. Alcune camere dell'hotel sono un po' antiquate e i dettagli come gli angoli potrebbero non essere molto belli. Vediamo se qualcuno presta attenzione.

La stanza è piccola ma le strutture sono nuovissime. Ho dormito troppo a causa del jet lag durante la colazione. La comunità di Chelesa è molto buona. È considerato conveniente a Manhattan. La stanza può vedere l'Empire State Building.
