Expectations vs Reality I stayed at this hotel a few years ago when it was at a different location. It moved a few blocks, but I was happy to rebook since my ex and I had such a great experience the first time. There was a hotel bar, a little cafe that served breakfast and lunch, and a little store where you could purchase sodas, beer, snacks, and personal items. The rooms were nice, and there was a fabulous outdoor patio. When I arrived at the new location the lobby was attractive, if not a little dark (the previous location was so bright and welcoming). The person at the front desk was friendly. I got up to my room and the first thing I notice was water damage on the door to the room. Since I grew up on the coast I know how those things go, so I dismissed it. It was only later that I realized the side of the door looked like someone attempted to break in with a crowbar. I got in the room and there is no exterior lighting, the window looks out to the hall, no dresser to put my non-hanging clothes, an old mesh office desk chair instead of anything comfy, no comforter on the bed, just a cover less duvet between two sets of sheets, and a broken light fixture that I mistook for dirty because the glue that was under the missing piece looks like old ear wax. I was tired so I figured these things were minor and I don’t feel confident that I would get a better room if I complained. Since check in I’ve realized that there is no pool (a criteria I searched for when looking for the hotel), no restaurant/cafe, no hotel bar for a quick drink, no nothing. When I called the front desk to request extra pillows they told me I had to come down to get them. When I requested my room cleaned, which I did first thing in the morning, they said it has to be requested 24 hours in advance. However there’s a business center (who needs a business center anymore???), a broken vending machine, and a ballroom, things that are barely if ever used, and therefore don’t require a lot of upkeep. If you just want a hotel room to crash in after being out on the town all day, this might be a fine place to stay, but if you’re looking for something even slightly luxurious you will want to look elsewhere. This is definitely not what I’ve come to expect from the Wyndham brand.
