Disclaimer, I didn't stay at this inn. I got sick and had to cancel my travel plans, but because I was sick, I couldn't call in time for a refund. I called around 5pm the day before my check in, which I assume is about 2 hours too late. Ok, I get it, my fault for not doing it sooner, even despite the extenuating circumstances. However, the employee (Vinu) was quite nice on the phone and said he would talk to his manager in the morning and try to get it cancelled for a full refund for me. I didn't get a call back telling me one way or the other, so I called back a few days later when my voice was back to normal, and Vinu told me that he had talked to his manager (Katie) but she said no. OK, understood. I still wanted to talk to the manager in person, to try to appeal to her directly or work something out. And if nothing was available, I would grin and bear it, but if I would be getting billed, I wanted to know exactly how much as well. Vinu told me that he would relay the message for Katie to call me back, because she apparently doesn't have a direct line and he can't give out personal information. Um, I had never heard of a manager's office number being "personal information" in any business, but ok, I didn't care as long as he would relay the message and I would get a call back. I never got a call back. I have tried calling the hotel a few more times and leaving messages with Vinu and another employee (Kumar). I have tried calling in the morning, on the afternoon, and in the evening. The manager is NEVER on the premises. Does she work here? The employees NEVER know when she would be in the office. They always "think" maybe in the morning. What kind of business practice is this? Despite being told that they would relay the message to Katie (and they wouldn't let me know what her last name was either. Why?), I have not as of yet (July; the stay would have been in April) gotten any calls. I even have been picking up "suspected spam" calls in case it's a call from her lol. Anyway, at this point, I have given up. I did get a charge in my credit card, and a "thank you for staying with us" email from comfort inn, and even a survey invitation. But I have never received an invoice with a breakdown of my charges, so I have no way of knowing what the taxes and service charges were, other than to deduct it from the room rate I was quoted when I booked. This invoice is something I would have received in the email had I actually stayed there, but apparently if you don't stay there, they don't bother to send you a receipt/invoice but just charge you whatever they want. I do get that the cancellation policy is 24 hours. But I also think that I should be granted the "honor" of talking to the manager who is never on site to at least explain and if nothing can be done, get an itemized invoice. Sheesh.
