Overall – a good hotel, with nice staff, good food and reasonably priced. The detail: Bus Transfer The earliest curtesy bus doesn’t leave Geneva until 12:30pm, so you’ll struggle to get a couple of hours skiing in on the first afternoon. The Alpine Elements rep meets you next to the Currency Exchange in Terminal 1, so if you fly in/out of Terminal 2 (like we did with Jet 2) it’s a 5-10 minute walk from 2 to 1. There are restaurants (McDonalds plus others) on the first floor of Terminal 1, but nothing in Terminal 2. The first curtesy bus going back home leaves the hotel at 8:30am and arrives at Geneva airport around 10:45am depending on traffic, so make sure you don’t book too early a flight back. Location From Dixies Bar at the bottom of the town, its about a 10 mins walk up the hill opposite (5 minutes when coming down from the hotel). It’s a pretty steep climb, but you can always catch the bus back up if you prefer. Buses The buses go down to Morzine, and up to Avoriaz, from just outside the hotel – the one to Avoriaz being the big gondola (Prodains) which is a quicker way than using the Super Morzine lift from Morzine town centre. Tip – by the time the bus reaches the hotel first thing in the morning its nearly always full, so you’re better off jumping on the one that goes down the hill instead – it’ll add 10 minutes to the journey, but you will probably get there sooner and will at least get a seat. Rooms Comfortable twin beds and a reasonable amount of room and storage. The shower has the power of a jetwash! A longer curtain would help the tiled floor not getting soaked. Hair drier in the bathroom. Tip – The windows are double glazed, but there was still quite a bit of noise from the road which starts before 7am. If you’re a light sleeper, or want a lie-in in the morning, don’t choose the rooms nearest the road (ie ???) and/or maybe take ear plugs. There were 4 chalets being built almost opposite when we were there which added to the noise, but they should be easily finished by summer 2024. Amenities Pool, sauna and jacuzzi open at 4pm. All nice and clean. Staff All very nice, friendly and efficient. A member of our group had a medical emergency during our stay. The staff dealt with it very efficiently and the manager, who spoke French, arrived very quickly enabling a dialogue with the paramedics. We are very grateful for their assistance with this. Food & Drink in the hotel Nice little bar area with a log fire. Reasonably priced drinks including Peroni on draught, but it went flat very quickly. Plenty of room in the restaurant and a nice cosy atmosphere. Cooked breakfast was pretty good (they’re never great to be fair) plus fresh French bread, croissants etc, boil-your-own eggs and/or cereals. All get constantly topped up, so we were never waiting. Help yourself coffee machine with various choices, or choice of teas, and 2 fruit juices. Good 3 course evening meal, plus a canapé each and a complementary glass of house red
