Siamo rimasti qui in aprile, nel quadro di un viaggio più lungo. I luoghi dell'hotel sono bellissimi e io amavo la mia stanza - era grande e aria e il ventilatore soffitto lavorava bene per il tempo in quel momento. Non sicuramente sarebbe stato sufficiente in tempo caldo. Il cibo e i cocktail nel ristorante erano deliziosi e il personale era fantastico. Finiremo a essere gli unici che restano alla fine del pranzo, così ci siamo ritirate nel deserto pensando che ci vorrebbero andare. Il nostro carino cameriere ci ha assicurato che erano ancora aperti per un po' e poi ci ha anche dato il caffè in casa. E’ un breve passo in città (preparati a camminare in montagna sulla strada di ritorno) e c’è un piccolo centro commerciale lungo la strada. C'è un grande supermercato, alcune bacche, ristoranti e negozi di souvenir carini. Il mio problema con questo hotel è stato controllato. Avevamo prenotato una stanza gemella (attraverso l'agenzia di viaggio.) Quando siamo stati portati in camera, era una doppia. Il bellissimo uomo che aveva aiutato con il nostro bagaglio ha fatto la radio e ha detto che il suo collega era venuto a casa, e poi ci ha detto che questo era quello che avevamo prenotato e che dovevamo condividere il letto o che avrebbe messo un bambino in un letto extra per uno di noi. Il mio email di conferma della TA disse che la camera gemella, quindi l'ho interrogato di nuovo. Egli insisteva che questo fosse quello che la TA aveva prenotato. Poi mi sono ripreso alla ricezione e mi ha chiesto di usare il telefono per chiamare la TA. Quando parlo, parlava con un altro collega e aveva la nostra prenotazione in mano. Poi, a quanto pare, lo vedevamo chiaramente, parlava con due persone, e poi parlava al telefono con la TA. Sono stati in grado di ordinare il problema, dandoci due camere e offrindoci dei cocktail gratuiti mentre aspettavamo. Questa parte era tutto bene e bella. Il mio problema era la bugia e cercava di incolpare la TA e farci sentire come se non avessimo avuto scelte. Se avessero ammesso l'errore e poi l'avessero risolto, non avrei problemi. Ma il modo in cui mi è stato trattato mi ha lasciato un po'di disagio per un altro piacevole soggiorno.

Finiremo a essere gli unici che restano alla fine del pranzo, così ci siamo ritirate nel deserto pensando che ci vorrebbero andare. Il nostro carino cameriere ci ha assicurato che erano ancora aperti per un po' e poi ci ha anche dato il caffè in casa. E’ un breve passo in città (preparati a camminare in montagna sulla strada di ritorno) e c’è un piccolo centro commerciale lungo la strada. C'è un grande supermercato, alcune bacche, ristoranti e negozi di souvenir carini. Il mio problema con questo hotel è stato controllato. Rooms were clean. Beds are incredibly comfortable with great pillows. Our room had a small balcony to sit out and enjoy some fresh air and a nice view of the garden. Very pretty grounds. Breakfast buffet food was hot, fresh and nicely prepared. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A 20 minute walk will take you easily into town for restaurants and shopping. We found it odd that there seemed to be no thermostat, air conditioning or ceiling fan in the room, only windows to open or close. But it was cool at night and we made use of the extra blanket for the bed. My only complaint was that there seemed to be a hot water shortage for the shower - not sure if this was a matter of timing or on ongoing issue.

What seemed like was going to be a great place to stay in Monteverde ended up being the worst part of my trip to Costa Rica. I did a lot of research before booking and even emailed the staff prior and there was someone by the name of Ran who was incredibly helpful and made me feel like booking with Pension would definitely be worth it so I booked. About a couple of weeks before my trip, I reached out again to confirm transportation arrangements with Ran who was looking into it for me and I never received a response. I reached out again a week later and received a general response from the hostel stating that Interbus was recommended. This was clearly not the individual I was in communication with and it was a red flag I unfortunately ignored. I ended up doing my own research for transportation and we finally arrive to the hostel. Upon arrival, I was greeted with the new owner who we come to find has only been in Monteverde for 3 months and seemed overwhelmed. She was complaining about how she had to take on so many roles now that she is the owner and honestly it was way more information than needed. She was unable to provide any helpful information like what's the best way to get back to the airport, good place to eat, etc. It also then made sense why Ran (previous owner) never emailed me back. It all just left a really sour taste in my mouth. Whatever. Moving on to the room, basic hostel room with no closet space, just a few shelves and noisy neighbors. I did not attempt the shower and the overall vibe of the place felt depressing with the awful lighting (felt like a prison cell). The complimentary breakfast saved us money but that was also a weird experience having to go next door to ask for it and the staff wasn't the most friendly. Then on the night before our departure, we went to reception to ask for a later checkout (as instructed on the hotel brochure in the room) and spoke with the owner who checked us in. Our bus out of Monteverde was at 2:00pm and she said we could stay in the room until 12:00pm at the latest. We thought finally this is the one positive experience and we figured we could walk around or go get a coffee somewhere for 2 hours, no problem. What a joke. At 10:40am the next morning as we were getting dressed, someone is knocking hard on our room door. After getting some clothes on, I answered and its one of the other receptionists stating that checkout was at 10:00am. I advised that the owner gave us the okay last night to stay in the room until 12:00pm. She immediately said, ”No, we have someone checking into this room and you have to check out.” There was no apology for the miscommunication, no form of recovery or compromise- just a flat out no. I work in hospitality and I understand this is a hostel but wow. I wish we would have just gave our money to literally any other local hostel. The experience we had prior to arriving to Pension to the moment we got there and finally checked out, was black and white. What an upset a

What an Amazing place! We will recommend it to everybody! We enjoyed our stay so much. The owner is such a great guy! Jose and Sharon the staff are incredible, very nice, friendly and helpfull. They booked the ziplines tour and ride for us and did our laundery super fast. The vibe of the place is cozy and it is beautifuly designed. It is a good place to get to know other travelers. The room was super clean. There are hot water in the shower. The location is perfect! Close to everything. The resturant next door called Open Kitchen is delicious, and the free Yoga class in the lobby is really cool.

Il posto è molto piccolo, la stanza è molto spazzatura, ma il servizio del capo è buono, anche se non è buona in inglese, ma non influenza la comunicazione attraverso il software di traduzione. L'acqua calda non è molto calda, è installato il piccolo apparecchio di riscaldamento elettrico all'uscita del capannone. L'acqua fredda è cresciuta e il calore è un po'più caldo. La prenotazione è principalmente considerata il prezzo basso e contiene colazione.
