Senda Monteverde Hotel Member of the Cayuga Collection

This was my favorite place in Costa Rica. Quiet, beautiful and very peaceful. There are a number of hiking trails and they provide boots, walking sticks and binoculars. The rooms are little cottages Set into the jungle landscape. We saw plenty of wildlife while sitting on our front porch. The mornings were crisp and beautiful and the afternoons were rainy. I was delighted to come back from dinner to find the beds turned down with hot water bottles and chocolates! I have never experienced finer hospitality. Everyone was very kind and helpful. I plan to go back during a sunnier season for a longer stay. Pura Vida!!

Gorgeous lodge in and amongst the wildlife of Costa Rica! Beautiful accompaniment and well looked after by staff who personalised our stay to us. Breakfast was perfect, with humming birds in the trees. Lots of activities included at the hotel. Ceviche/ cocktail classes and yoga often in a group of up to 4. A true sanctuary.

Everything and everyone at Senda Monteverde Hotel was amazing. I can’t say enough positive comments, but I’ll try. The check in process was smooth and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Jazdanny helped bring all our far-to-heavy bags to our hillside room that overlooked Monteverde and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. The food at the restaurant was excellent. Not your typical hotel food. Everything was fresh and inspired. The service staff went above and beyond. Dorian, Christopher, Alexander, and Gabriel, in particular, went out of their way to make us feel like we were at a neighborhood restaurant that we’ve been going to for years. At one point, we got caught in the rain while walking through the town. A quick call to the front desk and a taxi was on its way to pick us up. Outstanding service! When it was time to leave, my eight-year-old daughter had tears in her eyes. She didn’t want to leave because she loved it so much and didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to everyone that had made us feel so comfortable! Jazdanny noticed her tears and took her in one last trip around the hotel grounds on a golf cart. Over the top! We can’t wait to go back!

This experience is by far the best Hotel & Restaurant experience I’ve made in my life so far. The Hotel is located in Monteverde, a wonderful area with perfect weather. The Hotel tries to be as sustainable as possible, with success! The housekeeping team is coming to our houses 3 times a day, including a “preparation for the night” (e.g. hot water bottles under the sheets!) Also they offer many different types of activities, inside and outside of the hotel. For example a free Cocktail Class, Yoga, Wine Tasting or fantastic movie nights for kids! The restaurant is also managed perfectly. Great food, three different menus over the day and drinks that are absolutely delicious! But the very best thing for me: the waiters! Never have I seen such attentive, courteous and simply super cool waiters! They make everything happen, always have a smile on their face and have a great sense of humor! Big compliment to the whole team, I will definitely come back to Costa Rica & especially this hotel. This is the place to be! I’m super grateful that I got to spent these four days there. Gets an A+ for scenery and immersion in wild life. Just sitting on your porch for 20 minutes you’ll see Agoutis and Coatis. Excellent restaurant. Easy access trails on property for Agouti Reserve. Nice turndown service w/heating pads, chocolates. Comes with complimentary mini bar and bottle of wine on first night, and daily complimentary breakfast (pre-fix menu options)

Senda was a wonderful way to stay in eco-style while in Monteverde. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Their welcome and service was perfect. We enjoyed the restaurant and the beet and zucchini salad was delicious. My favorite part was being tucked away in a room in the forest and seeing the animals and greenery yet being a short (albeit steep) walk into town. We hope to come back and bring our kids as there were many families here, although it was lovely to stay as a couple as well.

Enjoyed two nights at Senda. Top notch hospitality to go along with an inviting space. The grounds are well kept - we took a hike along the paths around the hotel and saw lots of wildlife. A family of pizotes ran across our front path every morning. The accommodations and amenities were perfect - the suites were spacious and comfortable. They offered service twice a day. We enjoyed two dinners at the restaurant where reservations are recommended. Breakfast was great with many options and included in the rate. The hotel also made booking activities a breeze.

A great place in a superb setting. Excellent accommodation, with a spectacular view, friendly staff, good food…what’s not to like? A longish drive 3-4 hours from San José (we booked a transfer from SJO that we found on line (The Baqueano) , welcomed by Carmen who checked us in. The room had coffee and tea-making facilities, free local and international calls and complementary drinks in the fridge. One of the reasons for choosing Senda was the extensive landscaping and “curation” of the grounds to maximise animal and bird activity, with their own trails in their property and special free access to a neighbouring private Aguti reserve. However, even on the grounds you see a wide variety of bird and wildlife. We did two activities while there with Joseph, who was a gifted and patient guide. On the day after arrival we took 5:30 to 13:00 private tour, mainly focused on birds. this involved 75 minutes before breakfast in the grounds, then the cloud forest followed by Curi Cancha reserve. The second day was also focused on birds, but in a lower part of the valley - Finca San Luis. On both days, Joseph, was fun, helpful and really informative. Overall, a great place to stay with helpful staff and good food. We would thoroughly recommend it for a visit to Monteverde.

We stayed here for 2 nights and wished we had stayed longer. We loved Monteverde and thought the Senda was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at. The grounds and bungalow accommodation are beautifully laid out and, although the hotel is within walking distance of the town, we were happy to spend our time when not on excursions exploring the grounds and the adjacent nature reserve. Our accommodation was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped (even free beer and wine in the fridge) and we loved the veranda where we could sit and watch the wildlife in total privacy. We ate all our meals in the hotel and, although the choice of food and drink was quite limited and expensive, the quality was excellent. The reception staff were great and the restaurant service was generally very good apart from a couple of glitches related to table reservations (you need to reserve for all meals including breakfast). The only thing which we felt was a bit lacking was a comfortable seating area where you could enjoy a pre-dinner drink without sitting up at the bar in the middle of the restaurant. Cheap it is isn't but sometimes true value is worth the price.
