Stayed here 2 nights as part of tour. Very nice position providing amazing views. Very windy though! Rooms were large and clean. Only downside was the bathroom. Very dated and desperate for replacement! Shower Very slow just a trickle. All in very 70's dark green! Food buffet style breakfast which was fine. Cdnt comment on other times as ate elsewhere. Hotel is quite a walk from town but is OK if you're fit. Very steep hill back though so taxi be recommended. Was a lovely walk through hotel grounds which we enjoyed. Lots of little busy creatures to spot! Leaf cutter ants so interesting to watch!! All in all nice stay for 2 nights. Staff at reception Very friendly. Especially young lady..didn't get her name!!

Where do I start… very dated. Gaps in the doors and (very dirty) bathroom roof so was like being in a wind tunnel. No air con or heating. Breakfast served until 9. We arrived at 8.15 to a totally cleared dining room with a small plate of fruit and cold congealed offerings. Dining room staff totally disinterested, I appreciate this hotel is in a mountainous area but seriously the steep inclines and declines to and from the rooms require you to be either a mountain goat or an Olympic athlete (and we are fit). Walk into Santa Elena took us 20 minutes, mostly steep downhills. We taxied back as return walk was / There is a coffee machine in the room with 2 pods. Once you have used them you have to pay $3 for more. Reception staff were pleasant and that was the only good thing about this hotel.

Very tired accommodation with an amazing view down to the Pacific Coast. No heating,AC, Ceiling fan or safe. Great large balcony but doors didn’t lock with obvious signs of activity across the roof! No lift. Great fruit for breakfast but everything else was very poor.

This is a nice location outside of town. The property has a good hiking trail providing opportunities to see monkeys, agouti, and motmot. The scrambled eggs in the breakfast buffet were good and well cooked. The room and bathroom were spacious and had screen doors to the patio.

The third stop on our round trip through Costa Rica. Beautiful hotel with a great, varied breakfast. The rooms are very large and comfortable - and offer a great, wide view. You can take short and longer walks directly from the hotel - a forest borders directly on the property and there you can - with luck - see monkeys and lots of birds (hummingbirds and toucans). The hotel is located on the outskirts of the village - but you can still walk to the village with its various restaurants and small supermarkets in just a few minutes.

If you are looking for a very good night sleep surrounded by pure nature, then hotel Montaña Monteverde is your place to stay. The staff is really friendly and welcoming, in particular, Silvia, the lady at the reception. She went the extra mile to explain everything about the hotel as well as the surrounding area and she was very helpful when we tried booking our Coffee and Chocolate tour as the website would not work. She took her time to contact the tour provider and organise the booking for us including de pick up from the hotel. The rooms are basic but you have everything you need. Our room was on the ground floor and had a little private patio facing the forest and with an amazing view to the mountains and valley. Breakfast was very nice too as it was a typical dish from Costa Rica and all tables are facing out with a great view to enjoy. Very eco friendly hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to stay and don’t be put off by it being outside the town as the walk to the town centre takes only 20 minutes.

Just ok. The room was in the building at the back of the property, large and well-lit but the room itself seems old. There is no AC. The balcony has a great view. The trails are nice. The bed was uncomfortable, consisting of a spring mattress with a thin mattress pad on top of it. I could feel the springs. Maintenance could have been better, and the room needed better cleaning. Breakfast is decent. There is construction debris around.

We had 2 nights here as part of a group tour and really enjoyed it. The rooms are really large with lovely balconies with views of the valley. The only downside was there was no ac, fan or heater, so you are reliant on the outside temperature. Really good food at dinner time - a la carte menu, very varied and good value. The grounds are large with several trails through the forest leading down to a lake. The hotel is set on a hillside so it is quite a steep walk from the reception/restaurant/bar down to the rooms. It is only a couple of minutes walk to a large supermarket if needed.

Stayed here in Feb 24 for 2 nights. Pros: fantastic views, well kept grounds, close to cloud forest, close to town and restaurants. Cons: Tired rooms. Best thing about the bathroom is the hot water, mediocre breakfast and unable to get a hot drink before 6:30
