Coorg Wilderness Resort & Spa

The resort stood by its name and was actually an experience of wilderness in a true sense. It is built in the middle of a rainforest and most of the dense forest is restored as is. There are a variety of birds that you could see just from the balcony (depending on the view of the room chosen). I would recommend the wilderness hill view suite as it gives an uninterrupted sight of the rain forest extending till the hills surrounding the area. The room was exactly as shown in the pictures. The resort is not too old and the interiors looks fresh and welcoming. The facilities in the Resort are top class and one doesn't necessarily need to step out of the resort for anything and should truly have a relaxing stay. Every morning you get to wakeup at the sight of mist surrounding the property and calming sound of birds chirping. The facilities at the Resort that used was the Swimming pool which was very enjoyable. Spa facility also has a lot of options to truly rejuvenate. We opted for the adventure Safari which was a good off-roading experience which was followed by a visit to the farm maintained by the Resort. The early morning bird watching walk and the nature walks are also very good. The food @ Habba restaurant was good and most of the food offered was tasty. Service at the Resort is also good with very prompt and polite staff who are always ready to help. I just wished the Coastal cuisine restaurant "Vembanad" had more options for vegetarians and the cuisine is not very welcoming for folks who are new to the cuisine and want to try it out. we totally passed on this one. The Interiors in the room and all the places inside the premises are classy and give a certain vintage feel. This is my second visit to Paul John Resorts and both of the stays have been wonderful !!!

We had visited Coorg 11 years back and were very keen to revisit beautiful Coorg / Madekeri again. We fortunately finalised Coorg wilderness resort as our place to stay and were not disappointed at all . Right from the booking stage ,to the day of arrival they were interactive and eager to sort out everything including the small booking confusion which occurred. As it was a special occasion for us -they made every effort to make it even more special -upgraded room ,room decoration and wine and cake -Mridul and Hariharan were very helpful indeed . The rooms are huge (we had a hill view suite) and well appointed-the bathrooms are like mini rooms either bathtubs .The USP of course is the private balcony with amazing hill views with such comfortable chairs that we spend hours relaxing there with our kindles ,drinks and snacks . The resort is built on various levels and have a very efficient buggy service to take one around . It is abound with greenery and one is greeted by nature sounds only and of course of the birds . There are two restaurants-Habba and Vembanad with various food options . Breakfast at habba was a sumptuous spread and also evening tea is served here . The Restaurant has plenty of sitting area with a huge outdoor balcony where one gets impressive views and one can hear and watch birds . We are avid bird watchers and indulged in daily treks in our own plus as part of their activities including tree plantation trek and sunset point trek . We saw and manged to photograph a lot of birds including the Malabar hornbill and white cheeked Barbet The staff is very friendly and special mention to Rashmi,Sisira and Monika . A perfect place to relax in pollution free environment amongst nature . The swimming pool is nice though we did not use it . They have a spa and gym also . Only one point that needs attention -the bath tub is not friendly for the slightly elderly or women as there no step to get in,no hand rails and no antiskid inside -difficult especially to get out from it . And as they host a lot of corporate events that can be a bit noisy sometimes as we faced on our last night there . Definitely a place highly recommend for a relaxing break amongst nature

Superb experience, cooperative staff, a luxurious and comfortable room, good spread on breakfast and dinner. Good coffee exploration session, the plantation on the property was amazing, overall a very nice experience. The infinity pool was quite relaxing, calling a buggy was easy and quick! Very welcoming people!

The resort is awesome. Service is very nice and quick, I would say it was beyond my expectations. Value for money. When I ask Nithin one of the resort officer, about the future booking he explain us very politely and clearly. He looks very professional and good human being. I am planning to visit this place again with my family and gonna contact Nithin, I know he is going to guide me for the next visist.

Housekeeping Nito was excellent. However, the Food and Beverage staff felt that they were doing us a favor by serving us at their restaurants. We went to their specialty restaurant, Vemanad. There was only one server, and he was unable to attend to 2 tables. We asked him to get some extra pickle, and he was so kind to oblige, but only after dessert was served . Now comes to the famous Habba restaurant, which is their all-day dining restaurant, the restaurant that you would visit for High Tea, Breakfast and Dinner. The view is mesmerizing, but it ends right there. First day High Tea - Babycorn Tempura tasted more like a Golden Fried Babycorn as it was not made with the Tempura batter. Served with that was Spring Rolls, which were the life saving dish to the High Tea as even the Tea and coffee were unable to do the same . Next day breakfast - Idili over steamed, cold, and rock hard. Surprised that a hotel in Karnataka was not even able to get an Idli correct, if they can not get an Idli correct I dared to try an Omelet, Oops what a mistake it was over fried browned outside and dry. I asked them to replace it, and they could not understand as to how an omelet could not be overcooked and browned . The bread might have been from a few days old as it was dry and did not taste fresh. The Dhokla i must give it to them that even a Gujarti would be surprised to have so much sweetness in a dish. Second Day Tea - The sandwich was to be missed as the bread tasted old and dry. Also, even asking 4 servers for tissues, they just nodded and never got us tissues. Coming to dinner for the second evening- I walked in and realized that the Biryani was over and asked a server to replace it in the buffet. He was very kind to nod and said that he would do it right away, after waiting for 5 minutes I walked up to a chef and requested for the same he said that to be patient, I felt bad so patiently waited and after now 10 minutes passing by I asked another server he now did not even acknowledge that they needed to refill the buffet (sorry but isn't that their job?). I felt like they were doing me a favor by giving me food. I went up to their manager- Monica, and when I asked for the same, she obliged immediately by giving me an ice-cold biryani. Maybe those are the SOPs of the kitchen to keep ice cold. The heat from the cheffing dishes will warm them up. Unfortunately, being an avid traveler, I feel that the F&B could really pull up their socks. Coming to Housekeeping - One word Wowed Nito took such good care of going over and beyond his duties to keep us comfortable. Front office - all the staff are amazing right from speedy check-in to always having a smile on their face. Super pleasant. All in all, I wish they pull up their socks and be more hospitable.

I'm so glad I came across this resort on insta. My sister and I stayed here for 3days and we really enjoyed our stay. The resort has so much to offer with its complementary nature trails, yoga, coffee brewing experience etc and some paid services like individual yoga sessions, spa, adventure activities etc that you will not get bored. We absolutely loved the food and drinks offered at their resturants. The rooms were really clean, beautiful and spacious. But what especially stood out for us was the service provided by the staff. 10/10 to them for their warm attitude and care. A special shout out to Ali, Delna and Harshida from house keeping for their attentive service and care. Priya, Jai, Ashwini from the restaurant to ensure we like the food and for checking in on us everyday. Jai even helped us with a small snack for the road on the last day. Thank you Augstine from the coffee studio for helping us know our favourite beverage coffee much more in detail and the coffee tasting sessions. Though we were really impressed by the excellent service standards of all the staff, these are the few of the names we remember. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to take a break from city chaos and rejenuate.
