Marari Beach Resort Alleppey- a CGH Earth Experience

Amazing Stay at this hotel. Awesome staff great installations and rooms. The food is great. 100% recomendable for some peaceful days.

Wow, this hotel is something very special. The kindness and friendliness of the staff is something else and we loved every moment of our stay here. We had several experiences with the resident naturalist both in the butterfly garden (wonderful) and walking round the huge estate spotting owls (amazing). The activities manager Anushka is wonderful and made our stay extra special. We didn't swim in the sea but there is a resident lifeguard there which meant that we would have felt very safe doing so. The beach is miles long and we had a lovely walk ***** it spotting birds and looking for shells. We had a room with a pool which we recommend - it was set in the most beautiful private garden and we spent most of our day there. We cannot recommend the hotel enough for a fabulous, end-of-Kerala, relaxing stay.

Horrible experience at the resort. I had booked a three night stay at CGH Kumarakom. I could not travel at the dates I booked because of medical emergency. So the hotel issued me a voucher which I can use later for my CGH booking. When I tried to do booking again, to my amaze, they said you can only book Marari beach CGH which is much cheaper than the Kumarakom property and gave me no refund for the excess amount paid. Didn’t even issue me a voucher to use the excess amount. But because I had spent money, I agreed to go to Marari beach CGH. It was a horrendous experience. They have no hospitality specially the front desk. I asked them to give me a room closer to restaurant as I am expecting and it’s difficult to walk with a toddler as there are no golf carts. Still they gave me the last room which was the farthest from the restaurant. Then they charged double amount for room delivery food. Another was the spa experience. I paid for 60 mins spa service and got only 35-40 mins that too by a very non experienced women. Even the maaalish ladies that come at home are way better of what they call as an ayurvedic spa. After highlighting this issue at the reception, they didn’t care. They were only concerned about taking money. They even charged for every baby food I ordered even though I had paid for all 3 meals. They said it was not part of buffet. How will such a young baby eat spicy buffet food ? Never recommend anyone to go to this property. You will lose money and your mind if you go there. Horrible people horrible experience

After a hectic two weeks of sightseeing and long days travelling we booked Marari Beach as an extension to our tour to have a few days relaxation before we flew back to the UK. Spending a little extra and upgrading to a garden villa with pool was the best decision we made. The extra private outdoor space, was a bonus as well as the pool of course. Being able to have a dip first thing in the morning and last thing at night when the water was surprisingly cool was a delight. We didn’t spend much time on the beach, as to be honest it didn’t look that inviting but the hotel grounds are pleasant. Do take a walk with Shibu who is an expert in the bird life of the area including the owls. He could spot the creatures more easily with his naked eye than I could with binoculars! There is a lovely butterfly garden and chai served on the lawn every afternoon with snacks. The food in the restaurant is good and varied and the staff friendly and welcoming. We didn’t get massages here as the spa was expensive compared to other places we have stayed on this tour (more aligned to UK prices than India). It’s easy to get out and about in the area. Take a tuk tuk to the fish landing site early morning for immersion in the local life of the fishermen and the buyers of their catch. Or take a tuk tuk into Alleppey. The driver will wait for you as you peruse the shops. A great place to chill at the end of a tour

This hotel is a joke. I tried to book a room through their website but they do not accept international cards. My reservation got cancelled after a couple of days because I could not make the payment. After several calls and emails, the sales department kept ignoring my request to share a payment link that would accept international cards, simply replying that the current link worked. I ended up asking my hotel in Delhi to contact them and the CGH team simply hang up on them after saying that we should not have booked through a travel agent (which we didn’t?) Clearly they do everything not to have any guests. I live in India and have honestly never seen anything like it!
