Sentido Amounda Bay

Ieri abbiamo cenato tutti e tre al ristorante Gogo dell'hotel. Sembrava promettente dall'esterno e dall'interno. E sfortunatamente non abbiamo letto prima le recensioni degli ospiti. Per prima cosa è arrivato il cameriere con i menu, le bevande del bar e i piatti. Per quanto riguarda la carta dei vini (su mia richiesta), presumibilmente ce n'era una, ma è arrivata più tardi sotto forma di cellulare del cameriere. Quindi la carta dei vini era disponibile solo in formato digitale. Da ciò non risultava chiaro quali vini potessero essere ordinati al bicchiere; veniva indicato solo il prezzo per bicchiere senza la descrizione di quali vini fossero specificamente offerti al bicchiere. Abbiamo ordinato una bottiglia di vino bianco. Il vino era eccellente, ma purtroppo troppo caldo. Keller non ha risposto affatto al mio commento, ci ha versato il vino e se n'è andato. Poi ho ordinato i cubetti di ghiaccio per il nostro vino bianco. È un peccato per tutti gli intenditori e gli amanti del vino, ma non avevamo altra scelta. I cubetti di ghiaccio arrivavano in un grumo sul tavolo in un secchio. Erano difficili da eliminare. Ed erano stranamente informali. Ma sono serviti al loro scopo. Nemmeno noi sapevamo cosa ordinare dal menù: la scelta non ci piaceva molto, ormai eravamo lì e volevamo mangiare qualcosa. Abbiamo ordinato gamberetti con qualcosa di patate e limone, petto di pollo alla griglia e quello che doveva essere un piatto di riso con gamberetti, che anche il cameriere ci ha consigliato. Purtroppo il piatto di pesce era finito. Sarebbe un'alternativa al pesce. Torta da cucciolo! Il riso non era affatto riso, ma tagliatelle a forma di riso già piuttosto cotte, tutto nuotava nella salsa di pomodoro, c'erano quattro gamberetti dentro e il tutto non aveva un buon sapore. Anche i gamberetti con patate e limone erano strani: le fette di patate galleggiavano nel brodo di limone e la consistenza non corrispondeva affatto ai gamberetti. Strana combinazione. Il petto di pollo era troppo asciutto, e per ogni quattro fette di petto di pollo c'era circa un cucchiaio di guarnizione di indefinibile orzo perlato. Nonostante il mio inglese imperfetto, ho risposto “no” alla domanda d'obbligo: “Ti è piaciuto?” e ho recensito ogni piatto. Soprattutto perché le fette di patate galleggiavano ancora nell'olio e rimanevano nel piatto, così come più della metà dei cosiddetti spaghetti di riso con gamberi rimanevano lì. Solo il mio compagno ha mangiato il petto di pollo perché aveva molta fame. E poi il cameriere ha detto che era suo compito chiederci se ci piaceva. E non può farci niente. Poi ci ha chiesto se ci piaceva il vino. Ma il vino non lo hanno fatto loro, grazie a Dio. Altrimenti sarebbe sicuramente immangiabile. Devo anche ordinare la fattura tre volte. Poi il cameriere ha voluto offrirci il dolce della casa. E anche un altro raki. Ho detto che volevo solo pagare e andarmene. Poi è arrivata la R

Great service, good food, friendly staff. Chilled vibe. Plenty of sun beds. Room Is spacious, clean, lots of hanging space, good size Balcony with nice views. Comfy beds. Good air conditioning. Towel hire available. Good choice of drinks. Small complex. Feels safe. Maintained gardens. Housekeeping every day. Close to bus stop. Recommend the hop on hop Off to see the sights. Not great for disabled or those slow on their feet. Negatives. Not near a great deal. A few shops, bars restaurants. Children’s playground and play centre. A lot of derelict buildings and developments close by. Close to the beach but it isn’t the greatest. No promenade to walk along. The lift in the hotel is tiny. Not good if you’re a large person or claustrophobic. Used it once! Hated it! Carpet in the corridor is torn. Not hoovered, tripping hazard. No non slip covers on the marble staircase. No handrails on some of the stairs. Sun bed mattresses need a good clean! Personally I would not say it is child friendly or good for less able people. Pavements around the hotel and on the high street are in a terrible condition. No clear food ingredient information for those with intolerances. Not a great deal of entertainment. Snack bar choices are limited. WiFi signal is poor. Bathroom floor gets very wet from the shower. Not much space in the shower for toiletries. All in all a pleasant and enjoyable stay. Staff are very professional and happy to help. Left feeling relaxed. Would recommend.

Came here a couple of years ago and it was an average 4*. They’ve clearly spent money on it and now it’s better than many 5* i have been to. New pool, new restaurant, new pool bar, new rooms. There was never an issue getting sunbeds either at the pool or at the beach. The beach is a pleasant 5 minute walk away, and they have their own area and beach bar. All inclusive drinks list is good. Dinner in the main restaurant was excellent and well varied each night. Same for breakfast. Lunch there is the choice of the buffet or there is a snack bar too. Allowed access to all facilities on the last day even after checkout, which not all hotels allow. Staff were all very friendly, special mention to Nikos behind the main bar. Overall, an excellent stay and i will be returning.

Booked a last minute week in a double shared pool room. Wasn’t sure what to expect as some reviews were very negative but we loved this hotel. Food was lovely at each meal. Had a few cocktails which we very good quality. We didn’t used the beach club as we aren’t really beach people but we did wander down to scope it out on our first night and it looked very nice. Used the pool closest to main hotel building once, again very nice area with plenty of sun loungers. Staff very friendly and helpful everywhere. Tables being cleaned and re set as soon as people left in dinning area. Only negative about dinning area is it being open to the elements with only a roof/canopy. It was quite windy on occasions with napkins and other things blowing off tables. Good choice of food and always being replenished. Room serviced everyday if you wanted, which some days we declined as didn’t feel we needed it daily. Shared pool room was ideal for us as we don’t like to mix too much so we were pretty much self contained. Pool was chilly, and on one day I couldn’t get in as far too cold but as it’s early in the season I guess the warmer weather will help as summer approaches. Definitely wish to return

Very relaxing holiday, rooms comfortable, staff very friendly and kind, food excellent, hotel environment beautiful. We also used the local spa, the services (massage, peeling) from Kalliopi were excellent! I recommend this hotel.

Great place to relax with friends, family. Very friendly and helpful staff take care of comfort so much that when you leave it feels like you are leaving your home. Live music often plays in the evening; the food is delicious; the spacious beach is close to the hotel; the rooms are modern and the hotel has beautiful area.

Amounda Bay is a nice, modern and well maintained hotel. Not a crowed hotel, so no stress. No need to reserve a place near the pool (great, and big pool). Private beach (located at 5 minutes from the hotel) is a plus (sun loungers and umbrellas at the beach are also great quality). Food is varied and Greek food is also present (specially deserts are delicious). Rooms are modern and clean (every day). If possible choose a room with private pool and you be near heaven.... But, what makes the difference at this hotel is for sure all the staff. All the people that is working in the hotel make you feel like you are at home. They are most professional and always at you disposal, but also very kind and smiling. “Thank you very much Amounda Bay Team” , you are really awesome!

TLDR: The hotel tries to be classy and in many fields it is successful at it but in other it has some heavy drawbacks and very heavy cost cutting. You can feel that hotel tries very hard to cut costs on everything which impacts quality of what you get. Cons: - Lack of acoustic isolation. Walls are made of paper drywall which means you will hear each conversation from room next to you. If someone likes to talk till 3am or watch tik toks then you are screwed. My neighbors liked to listen to French gangsta rap - Cleanliness of pool and beach mattresses. They are all covered in stains. It looks very bad, it seems that it’s not being replaced or cleaned at all. - Food quality. You are not classy if you are cheap on food. Every breakfast is the same. It didn’t change throughout our 7 day stay. There is a lot to choose from most of choices are very low quality and I would never serve this to my guests. Low quality sausages, salami and other kinds of minced meat. Fruits and vegies were good and I stick to that. “Bacon” was not a bacon – it was some kind of processed minced meat (and god knows what else) compressed with ***** of fat to make it look like bacon. It didn’t event had visible meat structure. We’ve been in some cheap restaurants nearby and food quality/taste there were 10 times better. Hotel served gyros with chicken skin… for lunch and dinner there was a lot of choices but many things did not taste as it should. All cakes and deserts are frozen – you can tell that because these are still frozen on your plate - Drinks Quality…. Disaster. You have menu with drinks that says that drink contains orange/lime/pineapple juice and what you get? Orange/lime/pineapple flavored drink which is basically water, colorant and sugar. You won’t get here whisky on all inclusive. All alcohols on all inclusive are disaster grade quality… it could be acceptable but these are mixed with disaster grade colored water with sugar. Not classy at all, I would say disrespectful. If on menu you say you serve drink with orange juice then make it with JUICE. A real one. If you want to be cheap on alcohol, please don’t be cheap on other ingredients. - Unfair practices: hotel offers imported alcohols and premium drinks with actual juice but you must pay for it. So once you are in there and paid for your vacation you may choose something that tastes extremely bad or pay for normal drink. Looks like unfair way to boost sales. Again, very not classy. - Beer tastes like water and probably has around 2%. It’s a “no-brand-beer”. I even liked the fact I can go swimming after this but if you expect a true beer you won’t get it here. - Shower cleanliness – it looked like it was not properly cleaned for months – whole shower cabin covered in water sediment in different colors, there were black sediments on floor. - No Swimming pool. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of pools there but none of them is meant for swimming. I was looking for a hotel that will have a swimming po
