Aurora Fjord Cabins

Location: 5/5 Quiet: 4/5 Activities: little options or quite expensive Northern Light: clouded sky Communication: 2/5 WiFi: 2/5 ‐--------‐------- In wintertime, the sun does not come up so good to realise there is a little twilight around noon but pitch dark the rest of the day. So that limits the available outdoor time and as the cabin is really mini and the WiFi limited, bring books to read. The tour around the distillery is nice but costly (€75 per person including a slice of bread with shrimps). A whale watch tour €300 per person and 3 hrs snowscootering with 2 persons on one scooter €600. We experienced the communication with Sarah over the months preceding and during the trip as disappointing: phone not answered during office hours, no call back and information inadequate. The cabin is advertised as "with WiFi" but upon arrival the guestbook explains why WiFi is so limited (some unrepairable technical issue) so i feel it would perhaps be more honest to disclose that Before One Has Booked "limited WiFi or little bandwidth WiFi". Drive from Tromso airport (navigation leads you via city centre but E8 around town is much faster) to cabins is around 2.5h (including time on ferry, check timetable). Roads are excellently cleared during snow, 4x4 recommended to drive up from parking lot of cabins back to main road.

The cabins will simply blow anyone's mind away!, This was the highlight of our trip to the arctic even when the auroras refused to show! The cabins are perched on top of the water with 180 * panoramic views of the Fjord and the mountains. Kitchen is well equipped. Having a car is important as it's quite secluded and the nearest supermarket is a 10 minute drive away. Camp TRoll snowmobiling is a partner company so all books were very smooth. Sarah was very responsive and gave us very clear driving instructions. The bedroom is very comfy but we opted to sleep on the sofa bed to wake up to the views and try to catch the auroras during the night.

Since the moment we first saw them while the distillery tour we knew 100% we have to try out the experience of spending some time in one of this fabulous cabins. First: the location right on the edge of the rocks combined with the huge glass wall facing the fjords - outstanding! Second: the cabins are cozy, stylish and fully equipped (the kitchenette is more than useful taking in consideration the limited number of restaurants in the area, air co just perfect for the warm summer days and the bed was relaxing & comfortable). The cherry on the cake for us was the living area with the sofa facing the stunning views. A place for bbq can be found near to the first cabin as you are coming from the parking area. Internet available and also a small speaker to play your music. If it’s something we would wish more from this location, that would be bathrobes to be available and some terrace furniture. Highly recommended, the place is fabulous and Sarah was more than helpful and friendly.

La vue de la cabine est magnifique et les équipements sont nickels, lits confortables et le salon qui donne sur le fjord est vraiment agréable. Nous avons eu un souci en arrivant car la chambre n’était pas faite, mais nous avons pu rapidement avoir un contact et ils ont réglés la situation de façon adorable et pro en nous surclassant dans la cabin avec Jacuzzi. Ce genre de souci peut arriver mais une réaction au top fait toute la différence ! Merci à vous.
