Domaine Joseph Lafarge Wine Resort B&B

It was a breathtaking experience to stay there. A beautiful and clean house where we slept wonderfully. We enjoyed a never before seen view from the mountain. We enjoyed breakfast outside and it was very tasty. The staff has all the time for you and the wine tasting was well supervised.

We have stayed here many times simply because it is fantastic. The rooms are super comfy, the staff and owners are incredibly accomadating and very helpful. Breakfast is home made and delicious. I cannot recommend Chemin du Grand Bois highly enough. And I really look forward to our next visit!

We love it here. We’ve now visited a third time, initially 2014, then 2016 with our two children, and now post Covid 2023 as a couple. It is an ideal stop off en route to the South of France or the Alpes, being a day’s drive from Calais. The location is a beautiful vineyard on a hill looking down over Lugny, with vines around. This is a family owned vineyard and Anthony has developed the business significantly since our first visit, and now managing his own cuvee, with his own grapes from his own terroirs, some neighbouring the house, others in the Lugny appellation. There are a number of overnight accommodation options from barrel pods to delightful bedrooms in the farmhouse. The rooms are well equipped, spacious, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. There is an evening meal on offer - three courses, homemade soup to start, delicious meats and cheeses, all locally sourced, as well as pudding. You can take advantage of a tour round the vineyard, comprehensive explanation of how Anthony makes his award winning wines (sparking Cremant, white, red and rosé), and of course these are on offer to wash down dinner, or to take away. Breakfast is extensive - several different types of fresh bread from the local baker, honey from the neighbour, homemade yoghurt, jams and grape juice, delicious coffee and much more. Lugny is just down the hill - where there is the local wine cooperative with very knowledgeable and helpful manager, on hand to support tastings and explain the local wine varieties.

First I would like to say that we stayed in one of the rooms. The hospitality and the service was perfect from the start, since the welcoming from the wonderful receptionist, then the amazing lady in charge of Food and Beverage, after the incredible tour guide of the wine tasting and finally but not least the wine team and housekeeping with their friendly treatment (unfortunately couldn't ask their names). I hope to come back really soon ♡ to keep enjoying the relaxing stay with an incredible view (cute cows included) while having one of the best wines I've ever had.

We had a wonderful stay at domaine joseph Lafarge. We really enjoyed the winery, the wines, the views and the really kind people. We stayed in one of the tons, and really liked them. Will definitely visit again!

This gem is located in the heart of Burgundy, part of an exquisite vineyard embedded in wine country to the horizon in all directions and REALLY overlooking the village of Chardonnay. This is the quintessential French countryside experience. The vineyard tour was fascinating, more in depth and filled with anecdotes than I had ever heard before and was capped off with a delicious and educational wine tasting. To round off the perfect evening experience, my guest room included a fabulous hot tub and hydrotherapy shower. I arrived, somewhat by chance, at this amazing property after having a vehicle breakdown and two days of stressful madness that left me thinking I would never travel again. One night at this magical property, run by owners who were the very soul of kindness, and my faith in travel vacations was completely restored. If you happen to be an American reading this...THIS is the France you would expect to see...in all the good ways. You will love it here. It's a bit off the 'beaten path' but that, perhaps, is why it is so magnificent.
