Review Ivy House We came for three nights on a TravelZoo offer in mid October. We found it an idyllic setting and had a wonderful welcome by an energetic Carenza, one of several young staff who were equally enthusiastic and attentive. The garden room we were given was large, comfortable, very well appointed with large screen TV, good WiFi, coffee /tea maker, plenty of plugs and a great view. The thatched barn interior for evening meals and breakfasts was fantastically well restored. On the downside, our first evening meal was disappointing. There was no Caesar dressing on the chicken Caesar salad and the chef did not appreciate that substitution with plain mayonnaise does not compensate. However, Carenza, the restaurant manager handled it well, apologising, providing free coffee and taking 10% off the bill. In the evening one has to negotiate several unlit paths. Finally, the relatively new shower unit fitted to our room, without grab rail, soap dish or anti-slip floor base stickers is, in our opinion, an accident waiting to happen. Despite these criticisms, we would highly recommend this place for river trips on the beautiful Suffolk Broads and for easy access to Great Yarmouth, Norwich and Southwold.

Excellent overall experience from the warm greeting by the receptionist and a couple of her colleagues to departure and an accurate bill. We had booked through Travelzoo and received an upgraded room. Evening meal on the first night was superb with garlic mushrooms as a starter followed by crab thermidor with a couple of large glasses of Australian Shiraz. Breakfast the next day was a bit slow going as I wanted eggs royale and when it arrived the eggs were slightly overcooked. The restaurant staff were brilliant with Cressida leading and Carly assisting, Would we stop again, definitely.

We had a lovely Carvery today ,,the staff are so friendly, Jamie, who was carving was so friendly and helpful the girls who were serving us are very friend very cheerful I will definitely go back , I think they should have salt and pepper pots not sachets part from that delicious food

We have recently returned from a most enjoyable stay at the Ivy House Country Hotel. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Heather at the front desk. The accommodation was spotless. Top marks to house keeping. The hotel restaurant & bar dining area was most spacious & the meals were enjoyable. The bar itself was well stocked. What really made our stay were the staff, namely Angie, Emma, Molly, Caitlin & Carley. They were amazing. In our travels we have never seen a team work so hard, in the restaurant, the bar & the bar dining area. Even though they were all so busy, there was always a smile & making sure that our stay was made the best it could be. They are an absolute credit to the owners of the Ivy House Country Hotel.

We are couple in our 60s that used a travel zoo offer £169 for 2 nights with breakfast on both days plus £40 off a main meal at the hotel restaurant. So to get there you turn next to the esso garage then over a very small bridge the take it very slow as you go down a very rough dirt track with many pot holes. There us plenty of free parking and booking in was simply and we were in by 1.30 not 2 depending on if your room is available, we were in room 4 large nice bed big bathroom tv and plenty of cupboard space some of the fitting are a little worn. We are on the first in the restaurant the food is very good a bit pricy but if you get £40 of then you could have the meal for free, for example my sirloin steak with all the trimmings cost me £24 both our deserts we outstanding and we told them so. Breakfast is a full English that they cook to order there toast to order as well and juices and milk cereal etc on a table all very good quality as well. There are some nice grounds and there is a few short cuts to the lovely marina a short walk away. The staff are a credit to the hotel even though they seem very busy. Overall a good value hotel if you can get a deal.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting next to Carlton Marshes nature reserve and a short walk to Oulton Broad. Great food, very friendly staff, and a large and comfortable room. It would have benefited from being aired before we arrived, but was soon sorted by opening windows ourselves. Overall, this was a great place to spend a weekend.

Married my beautiful wife here 3 days ago and for the last year during the build up the staff could not have been more helpful or so I thought because they exceeded even those efforts on the day. Nothing was too much trouble and we can't fault any aspect of our wedding or the lovely suite we had for the night. It's almost tempting to get a divorce just so we can get married again here!

My Neice has just got married here. The hotel and grounds were fantastic, the staff are amongst the friendliest and most helpful i have ever met. we stayed the night and found the room very spacious and comfortable, breakfast was superb once again the staff couldn't do enough for you. I would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you Ivy House for making it such a special day.

Went for a meal on a Saturday night, it was EXQUISITE! The meal I had was cooked to perfection. The desert was DECEDENT ! This Resturant is well worth a visit, great service by the staff and beautiful decorations on a very beautiful old building. Well worth a visit to treat yourselves.
