LR Guest House

This is a charming and wonderful guest house well-located in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon. (close to Baixa) It is s short walk downhill to the river, the Time Out indoor food emporium, and to tram and train connections. Having been in Portugal at several hotels now for 9 days, I can say definitively that LR has the best breakfast! Breads picked up that morning from a local bakery, freshly made omelets or other egg styled made to order, sautéed vegetables, small batch yogurt, freshly squeezed oj, and latte or cappuccino. Diogo is a fantastic host/manager with many touring suggestions. David and Milena also are charming, warm, and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. There’s an outdoor patio for the use of LR Guest House guests only. They have s small honor bar so you can sample the liquors that are produced in Portugal. They may have wines as well. My only caution is that there are about 10 marble and then 8 wood steps to go from the entrance up to the reception area and guest rooms. They will carry up your luggage. Lisbon is absolutely worth visiting. My friend and I really enjoyed the Belem area, the many beautiful squares, the seafood at local restaurants, and the decorated tiles and iron balconies on the homes. One of the highlights for me was the Tile Museum. A must-see if you like historical examples of tiles dating back to the Moors. We took a group day trip to Sintra and were very glad to see the palaces and spend time in town.

LR guest house was outstanding.. maximum marks. The room and shower, and outside patio area were great. Fantastic varied breakfast, and very well looked after as vegetarians as well. A nice little courtesy bar was a nice touch. But best of all were the staff who were very helpful, informative and friendly. David is full of great info and good for a chat, and Millina ? tasty homemade cakes every day a very nice bonus. The location was excellent as well....oads of bars, restaurants Fado houses etc... very lively at night

The pre-travel communications were great, and the welcome and staff interactions were always fabulous. So friendly, professional and attentive with lots of lovely details throughout our stay as if the team/owners had thought of everything just like a guest might. David, Milena and Diogo were exceptional hosts- we had minimal contact with other staff but I'm certain they would have been brilliant too. The building was charmingly old and done up to a very high standard. The room comfortable and charming and we were lucky to also have the attached terrace. The kitchen area and breakfast was so pretty, with home touches and cooked breakfast and daily home made cakes! Courtesy bar area with games was a great touch. Coffee and snacks throughout the day too.

LR Guest House is located in the heart of Lisbon in a 300 year old building. We had a room with a private terrace including all the amenities of modern hotels. We stayed for nights. Staff cooked breakfast for us. It was great. All guests sit around a large table in the kitchen. Just feels like home. Daily, there are sandwiches and cake available. All done or cook on premises by the staff. They always have still or sparkling purified water available. Staff were amazing at giving us places to see and restaurants to try which we did. It did not disappointed. We thank David, Milena and Diogo for welcoming us. We had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this hotel. Lucie & JP

LR Guest House overall was a great expereince with the highllights as mentioned by others the super helpful staff. They went the extra mile in terms of recommendations, reservations, and whatever we requested. The kitchen, excellent breakfasts, daily great baked good and 24 hour access was a super plus. Location is fantastic with great restaurants to choose from in a 5 minute walking radius. There is street noise but the room comes with ear plugs. Only recommendation would be to add a dresser to Room 1 a spacious room that we stayed in but had no drawers for us to unpack-

The entire experience here was so wonderful. The staff is friendly, warm and super helpful. The breakfast is amazing, as are the patio and the complimentary snacks available throughout the day! Awesome location and just a really authentic experience. Highly recommend!
