What a beautiful resort, the best in Blowing Rock for sure. My experience at Chetola has been wonderful. The views are spectacular, the associates are engaging and friendly; everyone clearly enjoys what they do. I stayed here on business for the week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are kept clean and manicured so an early morning walk or sunset stroll was picturesque. Timberlake's Restaurant was fun, with either jazz or some type of acoustic live music most evenings. The food experience was really good, everything was beautifully prepared, scratch made, and served with a smile, the crab cakes were excellent, and the wedge salad with housemade blue cheese was my favorite. I hope to be back very soon, only with more time to enjoy the recreational activities. Thank you Team Chetola!

Very relaxing vibes here. Friendly staff. Of course it's beautiful with the old cottage and lake out front! Flowers everywhere! I wish I pitched in the few extra $ for a real balcony! It's very roomy with views, so do that. Bob Timberlake restaurant was quite good w plenty of outside seats!

Simply splendid. A very peaceful, serene resort with great amenities, most of which are included as part of the basic package. breakfast at the onsite restaurant was amazing. Chetola Resort is close to a small, walkable downtown with a great array of shops and restaurants. We will be back!

At first glance, on arrival, the grounds are beautiful, but that's where it ends. For approximately $400/ nt, we had a room overlooking the parking lot, so be aware. The 3rd floor room decor was hideous. Very overdone with the wood theme, mixed with modern cheap ikea-like elements, and terrible wall murals. Why? I get the rustic theme, but this is just too much! When trying to secure a reservation for the restaurant, the resy app showed no availability, but when we went to the restaurant, it was empty. Any time we asked a staff member a question about a problem, they responded with, "we are greatly understaffed." How is that an appropriate answer when charging the $400 pricing? I did hear, around the campfire that was never lit by the staff, but instead by a guest, they have recently changed ownership, and most of the original staff was let going, leaving the new staff floundering, to put it mildly. The vibe of this place is weird and underwhelming, feeling empty and unorganized. For these prices I expect much better. Beware.

The grounds are beautiful and the Lodge is nicely done. We did not stay or see the Inn, but the rooms/suites looked to be a good size and offered more traditional resort perks such as nightly turn-down service with a cookie, a social, and an inclusive breakfast. Overall, it was "resort-like" but fell short. The Lodge rooms were comfortable and had mountain-themed decor that was tastefully done. The Lake View (only available on one side) was picturesque. It was small, quant, and clean, but the shops, pantry, recreation area, spa, etc. were at best, "ok" but the website descriptions have some marketing creativity as it stretches what is actually there. The recreation areas and other amenities were average, but they did have some unique family recreational games (and organized game nights), yard games (on certain nights of the week), and several outdoor recreational options - fishing, tennis/pickleball, trails, and shooting range. The day spa is a stretch at best; it is a very small space adjacent to the pool (accessible to all guests). There is no privacy, so anyone speaking, even if in a low voice can be heard. there isn't much ambiance. The locker rooms are a bathroom, with some lockers and 2 showers. One of the robes in the locker had a huge stain on it that looked like blood, and the relaxation room, was a room with low lighting, some tea, water, furniture, and mellow music; with background conversations in the adjoining offices and check-in space. I don't know how the facial, hair, or nail services were, but I will say the massage that my husband and I got was very good. So the most essential element - the service - was what you would expect; unfortunately, everything else detracted significantly from the experience. The restaurant, which is the only restaurant on the property, was the weakest link in the experience!! The absurdity of the wait time and more importantly, the food quality, was hard to believe - we had experiences that resembled a sitcom. Note: there were some very pleasant wait staff who tried their best to accommodate the blunders of the kitchen staff and wait time, but the food was just bad! I wish I had taken a picture of the most egregious orders filled. The eggs benedict was a soft-boiled egg on an untoasted English muffin with just a step above lunchmeat ham that only remotely tasted like ham and a weak hollandaise sauce - not sure if real egg was even in it. It also lacked flavor. The charcuterie board was a joke. The description is: "Chef's choice of local meats and cheeses with accouterments" -apparently, local is short for the local "food lion" - semi-toasted sourdough bread, Pepperidge Farm crackers, bulk cut mini-cubed cheese (cheddar, Monterey, and mystery), deli sliced pepperoni and salami, with some accompanying fruit. I know this sounds very critical, but both my husband and I were just shocked. This review is longer than it should be, but hoping it will inform others so that they can plan

Every single person in the Spa was courteous, kind and attentive. The room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. So close to beautiful blowing rock. Also, clean and well managed pool and spa. Thank you so much Chetola Resort and Spa for a much needed break.

We visited Blowing Rock and chose Chetola to celebrate my wife's birthday. This hotel is broken, dirty, noisy, and we guess the owners have no interest in the guest experience. Our stay here has set the low bar for our worst hotel experience ever. When we arrived we were told there was no heat in our room or in the hotel. It was 27 degrees outside. Space heaters were placed in common areas, and the one outside our room did not work at all. We were told to rely on our fireplace to heat the room. This news was presented to us as if it were just part of the check-in routine as if nothing was wrong. There was no offer of compensation for the inconvenience. I wanted to find another hotel, but after driving 5 hours my wife convinced me to take a minute before making that decision. We went to their pub to have a beer and something to eat, and as we made our way there, we passed the closed main dining room which was shielded by plastic sheets taped into place. We were told there was a leak. In order to access the dining area, we would need to walk through the employee break room / storage area. Maybe this area could have been decluttered knowing guests would be be passing through it. Looking around we saw dust balls, food, and other particles all over the entire floor like the place hadn't been cleaned or even vacuumed properly. The table tops were sticky so it felt pretty gross being there. Fast forward to day 3 and I can tell you that throughout the inn, we saw the same particles, food, and dust clumps in the exact same locations in the dining rooms, hallways, lounges, and stairways we walked. It was pretty clear that no onw uses a vacuum here. While we sat in the pub waiting for our food, I decided to look for other hotels and was shocked to see that Chetola advertised $158 per night when we were paying double that. The frustration was building. No heat, closed dining room, uncleanliness, and high pricing without any acknowledgment that there is a problem. I have no issues paying $310 a night for a hotel room as long as I am getting a $310 a night experience. The band plays nightly below our room. It might be a courtesy to let guests know this who reserve this room that it is the case. The front door, also below the room, makes a loud and long creaking sound with a bang making it impossible to fall asleep with this happening at random times. A loud generator /fan device ran late into the night below us in the closed off dining room. One night at 12:30 am, I got dressed and went downstairs to see what the noise was and I met an employee who told me the fan cannot be turned off because it needs to be on to kill mold. Outside our room the guest doors and exit doors slammed incessantly when closed by others, and guest Jacuzzis and guest voices can be heard late into the night as well. We get it - these things can happen at any hotel, but they were all adding up to what would become a very unrestful stay which is ironic because the room key reads "

Great location and grounds. The resort is beautifully landscaped. The property is well laid out. Unfortunately the experience was sub par. First, buildings and rooms are tired. They have seen better days. The decor is dated and some of the areas are not clean. Second, the staff is lousy. In fairness, maybe they just recruit and/or train poorly. Regardless for the price of these rooms, I expected a much better experience. The people at the front desk didn’t have answers to basic questions and requests. No one acknowledged guests (us) when we came or went. Just very disengaged. Breakfast was disappointing - seriously, you broke the yolks on over easy eggs - minor but a good example of lack of attention to detail. Plenty more to write but in summary I wouldn’t stay here again and certainly not recommend it in its current state and management Thankfully we had a great experience with the Fly Fishing guides on our third day - highlight of the trip
