We visited R2 Pajara in the second week of May in 2024. We picked this hotel as it seemed to be well liked by others, had free parking and promised better weather than Majorca given the time of year. The hotel was easy to find on Apple Maps and we made our way there in the hire car (See other reviews for 'GoldCar'), arriving at about 22.00. There weren't any parking spaces left, so I left the car next to another one and then moved it into a bay the next morning. Staff were happy with this. Checking in was nice and simple, with no need to hand over passports etc as we'd checked in online. The receptionist explained the hotel layout, gave us a map and said that as we were a late arrival, there would be some cold meats and bread in one of the bars if we'd like. We were tired so went straight to our room and to bed, lulled to sleep by the sound of a traditional band playing on the pool bar decking.. Room We had booked an 'ocean view' room, and got exactly that. It was close to the main pool, had a lovely view of the sea and was clean and tidy on arrival. The mattress was firm and we requested extra pillows which arrived the same day. The cleaners visited every day between 09.00 and 12.00, and did a grand job. The room had a tv with various international channels (none of the British ones worked), a good wifi signal, fridge, balcony and bathroom. The bathroom was clean, plenty of room to store toiletries and the shower was great - very hot and powerful. The only downside was that due to bath being quite low water would run out onto the floor and make a fair puddle. Pool The hotel has 2 pools - an upper pool within the courtyard area, and the main pool. The staff were out cleaning the pool before 08.00 each day, with one particularly attentive member who would dive in to retrieve leaves. There are loads of sun loungers, and people will start going to put their towels down from around 07.30. There are signs saying you cannot reserve sun loungers - this is not enforced. Most pairs of loungers have a parasol for shade. It can get a bit windy by the pool, but that can't be helped. The pool itself was clean and 1.50m at its deepest point. There is an 'infinity' section that overlooks the sea in one area. The pool bar is easily accessed and open from 10.30 until 18.00. There are collared doves (pigeons), lizards and ground squirels (not chipmunks) around the grounds, and even a really angry looking cat but they don't cause any issues. From the pool you can easily access the beach which was quiet and nice. Food and Drink This is one area that I felt let the hotel down. That said, there will always be something to eat, especially if you like chips and salad. In terms of the main restaurant it was all self-service buffet, breakfast was fairly standard - odd sausages and bacon, cereals, eggs, bread, fruit and pastries. Also tea and coffee. Lunch was similar every day, an assortment of meats, rice, pasta, soup, cold meats and dessert. Dinner was usually th
