If you are looking for a quiet, quality hotel in a superb location then the SBH Costa Calma Palace is perfect. The hotel is situated on a beautiful sandy beach in the quiet town of Costa Calma, the location is truly superb. The hotel is kept immaculately clean and the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. The hotel has large swimming pools of which one is heated for the cooler months, there are numerous sunbeds and you will not have any issues getting a great spot. They also have a sunbed section on a private beach just off the main beach. The food is outstanding, the quality and choice is amazing - I believe it would be impossible not to find something you would enjoy eating. I was amazed at the high standard with fresh baked bread every morning and evening, incredible seafood and at least 4 cooking stations offering freshly carved meat, grilled meats, fish, pasta, paella etc. Deserts are great too offering the usual cakes and deserts but also a cooking station with a hot desert of the day. The hotel is generally what you would class as quiet with many of the guests more mature in years - yet there is lively entertainment in the evening for those that like. Practically: the rooms are lovely, immaculately cleaned with a great shower. There is ample shower gel and shampoo supplied but you will need conditioner. There is a kettle you can use but you do pay for the tea bags and coffee - so best supply your own. There is a fridge in the room for your own drinks, free WiFi was fast, beach towels are available for a returnable deposit. The safe however, is something where there is a daily charge. The hotel has a large free carpark for those with hire cars. Costa Calma is a quiet resort with just a handful of shops and restaurants. The nearest Spar Supermarket is just a 10 minute stroll away. A free bus is available to Oasis Wildlife Park which is worth a visit and there is a bus to the nearest town of Marro Jable where you will find miles of beautiful sandy beaches, loads of shops, restaurants, cafés, boat trips etc. We holiday in the Canary Islands 3 or 4 times a year and have been twice now to this hotel and I can hand on heart say that the SBH Costa Calma Palace is our favourite.

Abbiamo prenotato questo come una festa finale di quest'anno a buon mercato e allegro.Non siamo solitamente tutti i tipi di persone inclusive e tendiamo a fare un'ulteriore lunga strada. Dopo aver letto alcuni commenti sbagliati, eravamo un po' scettici, ma abbiamo trovato il posto fantastico per una settimana di vacanza, le camere sono spaziose e pulite quotidianamente. Le opzioni a tutti i livelli sono buone, a meno che non siate un'ampia ”inglese” solo mangiare - sono state preferite le opzioni per colazione e pranzo rispetto alle opzioni per cena, ma ancora più di abbastanza scelta per fare un pasto. non-bevande, ma c'è una varietà di pop fizzy, acqua, succo di frutta, una varietà di opzioni di caffè e tè e birra alcol libero da scegliere. Non abbiamo passato molto tempo nel resort stesso come ci piaceva esplorare - abbiamo assunto una macchina e io Si consiglia di farlo se si ferma in questo resort, specialmente se non si tratta di un passeggiatore, perché è un 15/20 minuto a piedi alla spiaggia e al centro resort. C'è una colonia di gatti sul sito, alcuni gatti specifici sono venuti nella nostra stanza per raffreddare sul balcone, che non ci importava come siamo gatti. La zona della piscina è stata pulita quotidianamente e c'era una vasta quantità di letti solari disponibili quando richiesto. L'unico negativo è la mancanza di aria condizionata nelle camere da letto - solo i fan. Abbiamo avuto un bel tempo e speranza di tornare un giorno.

I arrived at Castillo in the early evening of October 2nd 2023 as a solo traveller. Having left home some 8 hours previously, I felt tired , hungry , and thirsty and was therefore looking forward to being welcomed to my apartment quickly and efficiently as a holidaymaker. Instead I found myself face to face with a surly and charmless young man who ran through the check in procedure in a bored and disinterested fashion before thrusting a grainy and badly photocopied map into my hand in order to find my apartment myself amongst hundreds of similar white bungalows in the complex At this point I might add I’m the only traveller checking in at that point. Some 45 minutes later I find my apartment after walking round the complex umpteen times , if the check in guy had removed himself from behind the desk and simply pointed to a gate 50 yards up the road all this could have been avoided. The apartment was tired looking , sagging curtains , broken sofa bed , the main beds were uncomfortable metal frame affairs with a mismatched wooden headboard jammed up between them and the walls No air con , simply antiquated ceiling fans/lights which were hard to figure out to keep running without the lights on. Kitchenette appallingly equipped . Something scuttles when I open a cupboard Blocked drains emitting foul odours in the bathroom The roads around the complex are shocking , featuring broken manhole covers , broken electrical boxes , discarded rubbish lying around , and oh watch out for cars randomly crossing your path without warning from the strange little mini roundabouts which allow cars to zoom in front of people in a pedestrian zone. Also beware the electric scooters hacking around everywhere I think I had 3 room service visits in a fortnight , and despite paying for late checkout on my last day I then had a cleaner wondering why I was still there at 12 , I had to google the words paid late check out to get rid of her , obviously someone hadn’t done their job! Finally if you come here and are not particularly fit , it’s approximately 1 1/4 miles to the nearest beach , despite saying beach resort and a steep uphill climb on the return I’m sure Castillo will give the standard reply to this review , but you need to revamp your rooms , employ staff that are good with people , repair your roads , look after your grounds properly , including using the irrigation system in order to avoid the eyesore of dead plants everywhere, last but not least some general information given to guests and proper signage around the place would greatly help!

We had a sea view but with concrete balcony. I went and asked if we could move to have a glass balcony but after 5 mins of clicking a mouse, I was told “no”. Email before your holiday to ask for a glass balcony if you have paid for a sea view. Rooms are lovely and clean, bed very comfy, but I was disappointed there was no coffee, only tea. The hotel is lovely but SO quiet. Deathly quiet. Not even a little background music. Pool bar is ok…but as someone else said, you have to ask for everything, and the beer is in tiny little plastic cups that means, no sooner have you finally been served but you’re up asking for another one. Most staff were nice, the barman clearly doesn’t enjoy his job though. Pools were freezing and there was work going on sorting tiles. It wasn’t as bad as others have stated though, and we didn’t find it noisy. Entertainment was ok. Nothing exciting. Food was ok but I do also agree with other reviews. We didn’t find it awful but understand how others would find it awful. Nice wine at lunch and dinner. This isn’t a 4 star hotel. The resort was very quiet and we wouldn’t rush to go back. Transfer time was quick and the airport exceptional. All in all, an enjoyable wee trip away, but wouldn’t return to this hotel or resort.
