We stayed here in late August expecting a luxurious getaway, but it turned out to be anything but that. Our room overlooked a car park, the beds were uncomfortable, and overall, nothing special—especially considering the steep price tag. Despite the hotel being advertised as "dog friendly," we were greeted by wild dogs off their leads, barking at other guests' dogs, and no proper designated area for dogs to go to the toilet. The service was painfully slow with everything we ordered, and after chatting with other guests, we discovered they had paid half the price we did thanks to a last-minute deal. Apparently, this “luxury” hotel is desperate for bookings and falls far short of delivering the quality it promises. As with most of the reviews we read, we were unable to book the spa or pool, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel in the first place. The restaurant menu was limited, with sky-high prices for cold, dry food that took far too long to arrive. We were told the issue was new staff who clearly couldn’t keep up—no surprise, considering it seems like management can’t even retain experienced staff. Overall, this place fell far to shot in expectations. Save your money and go elsewhere

Wow!!! From Start to finish everything was exceptional. A wonder welcome from reception as we arrived with an informative intro about the hotel as well as some suggestions about what to do the area. We were shown to our room and it was absolutely perfect! Lovely treats of homemade cookies and popcorn and some drinks in our fridge! We ate in the restaurant and both food and service were fantastic. My partner had the fillet cooked to perfection and I had the halibut and it was absolutely delicious. For dessert we went for the chocolate and the rum raisin crème brulee and both fabulously delicious. Beds were really comfortable and the bed sheets so soft, we both had the best nights sleep. We had a morning swim which was wonderful to have it all to ourselves for 30mins. Breakfast was really pleasant and tasty, staff so friendly. Thank you Harper for a truly lovely stay, we will be back!

We stayed at The Harper in September The hotel is generally well presented and the reception staff were helpful if disorganised. The outdoor spaces are very attractive. I was sharing with a friend who had requested a twin room - we are rather too old and snorey to share these days. We taken to a double - I should have seen the signs then. We were moved to another room eventually. Things really went wrong in the evening. The hotel was very quiet but our group were given a table outside the restaurant in a kind of lobby. ts the main room was not full it seemed a shame to put us in what felt like a lobby. The menu was quite short - 3 snacks and 3 starters and as the burrata which featured in two of six dishes was off it was even more so. Main courses were also quite limited. We eventually got some wine, ordered food and waited - and waited. The food when it arrived was well cooked but the main problem lay in the extremely slow service. We waited for food for far too long - we sat down at 8.15 and our main course was not served until 9.45. A repeat wine order was ignored for 30 minutes until it was chased up. By the end of the evening the (very polite) young man who cleared was in kitchen uniform and was obviously not used to service - plates should not be scraped at the table but I think the waiting staff fhad left. And whilst it was 11.15 when we left the table it is not appropriate to turn down the lights - we were residents and should not have been hurried away - if you want someone to move to the bar have the good manners to ask. In short a disappointing meal which did not live up my expectations or to the advertised standards. I honestly had the impression of an out of season hotel with staff shortages

We have just returned from an amazing four night stay at The Harper. We booked very late and Caroline worked hard to find us a room that was suitable. All of the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and really do seem happy which is a pleasure to see and that makes such a huge difference. Having stayed in all of the higher end properties in North Norfolk, The Harper and its chilled out atmosphere, great food and drinks and exceptional cleanliness is without doubt the best Hotel by far. Kaz at reception was always a pleasure to deal with and made us feel so comfortable with anything we asked for. Many thank to you all. Lisa and Paul

Just come back from a one nights stay the hotel throughout was stunning. We were upgraded to a luxury room on arrival which was lovely surprise. Couldn’t fault the decor and the overall ambience of the hotel. All the staff were friendly but the stay was not perfect. The evening meal was disappointing, for starters we shared crispy chicken and it was very bland just had touch of mayonnaise on it. For main we both had sirloin steak, chips and peppercorn sauce. The steak was just average and the peppercorn sauce lacked substance. For the price we were expecting better. The hot breakfast were very small portions and the continental options were very limited just cereal, yogurt and no croissants or pastries. Overall we had lovely stay but could improve in a few areas.

We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend. We arrived at 3ish, check in wasn’t till 4 and our room was kindly ready for us when we arrived so we could put our bags straight in the room which was a huge bonus. The room was spacious and spotless. We were there with a 16 month old baby so we were relieved that the travel cot was already put up in the room for us. We then relaxed in the lounge, the bar server Ben was very friendly, smiley and attentive. The bar snacks were absolutely delicious. The tomato soup was beautiful and their focaccia sandwiches were very flavourful and fresh. We had dinner booked in the hotel, the restaurant area is very stylish. The only negative thing I would say is that the service in the restaurant was a little slow in the evenings. It could be because some of my family members had different dietary requirements. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, the freshly baked croissants were exquisite. Also loved the granola! The breakfast menu offered nice variety and I loved how everything came on crumpets which felt fabulously British. The hotel never felt too busy it had a relaxing atmosphere, it also had nice smells due to beautiful large diffusers everywhere. Would like to highlight how helpful the staff were with my young 16 month old baby. Everyone was friendly, understanding and attentive. They allowed me to use their freezer and would heat up her food for her every day so that I could put it in my flask before we went out for the day. They also had her breakfast ready for her every morning at 7:30 on the dot when breakfast opened. the harper is well located in a beautiful village that has a playground nearby, there were sheep right outside the hotel too. Fab for babies and they have really nice high chairs which were all clean. Loved the location of the hotel and the local villages were gorgeous we loved holt and blakeney. All in all staff were well trained, attentive, kind, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work there. We had a great stay and would recommend. Thank you

The Harper is an amazing place to get away from it all. The staff are all incredibly friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. A special oak mention must go to Bart in the cocktail bar. He makes the most amazing chilli margaritas I’ve ever tasted!

We loved this hotel. We stayed in a ‘biggest plus’ room which had fabulous furniture and a huge television giving a cinema like experience. There was complimentary drinks, as well as water, which is very unusual in our experience. Along with popcorn and delicious cookies, we were impressed with all that was on offer. Breakfast was good, though you have to ask for toast if you want it, and the pastries were never ready at the time breakfast service opens. We had dinner in Stanley’s one night, which was pricey, but very good. Staff were always friendly and helpful. We booked our half hour slot for exclusive use of the pool. The pool was not too hot, the jacuzzi was great and the sauna comfortable. Unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working but it was probably just as well as the half an hour wouldn’t have been enough if we wanted to use that too. We did have a couple turn up early for their slot and come into the pool which was annoying, but the slots aren’t supervised. We would definitely return here.

We stayed at The Harper for three nights over Christmas. It is a beautiful small boutique hotel set in the lovely village of Langham. Really lovely cosy hotel serving great food and excellent staff service. We had a 3-course Dinner on Christmas Eve, breakfast each day, a 5-course Lunch on Christmas Day, an evening Open Platter, plus all-day Brunch on Boxing Day. The hotel also own The Blue Bell Inn in the village( which is also an option for Christmas Day Lunch). Only ca 1 mile walk to Morton or ca 1.5 miles to Blakeney, plus a lovely village circular walk. The Langham Dome( old WW2 air base) is only a ca 1.5 mile walk. Can only book a private 30 min session in the indoor pool. Can throughly recommend. We also had a second overnight stay in May, when we enjoyed lovely evening on their terrace. Only ca 4 miles from the beautiful Georgian Town of Holt.
