If it’s not a wednesday and you don’t want to ride the wooden cypress train up to zhaoping then the hotel’s shuttle from the visitor center is a great start. There’s a shuttle up to 9:35am then restarts from 12:30pm. It takes just around 5 minutes to get to this hotel by shuttle and walking from the zhaoping station. The hotel location is on the top slope so it’s a great starting point going down to sisters pond to the temple. On the 2nd day, we walked down also from the other side to the alishan hotel to the thousand cypress tree. For sunrise, you can just walk to the zhaoping line from here, ride the train to zhushan then walk back the old unised railroad back up. Hotel checkin was fast. For meals, we went down via shuttle then back up again. 8am Breakfast at the hotel requires reservation and runs out. The room was clean and has hot water. Very nice location.

The location of the hotel is excellent. There is a shuttle bus from the visitor center, and it’s also very close to the Trees area, making it easy to explore on foot. Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. I recommend arriving before 3 p.m. if possible leave your luggage at the hotel, take some time to walk around nearby, then come back for dinner. We only stayed for one night and arrived late in the mountains around 8 p.m., almost missing dinner. The hotel staff were incredibly thoughtful and kind, and they helped us so we were still able to enjoy our meal. The food was great, and all the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!
