I last stayed at the Marburger Hof in November of 1968!!!! WOW. it sure has changed. Our 2 night stay was booked through *******. Without actually meaning to it, I booked us a very spacious 2 bedroom suite. (Not a bad thing if one of the partners snores.) Our two rooms were immaculate and comfortable. The bedtime story left for us was a sweet, charming touch. The well lit bathroom with an abundance of towels and excellent water pressure was beautiful.. We really enjoyed our breakfast buffet each day in the bight, attractive breakfast room. The hotel's location is very convenient to The famous Elizabeth Church, the train station, a few interesting restaurants and Steinweg - a delightful old cobble stone street lined with appealing shops. There were, however, two negatives. 1.The underground parking garage was not user friendly with its very narrow spaces and baffling car exit door and dark pedestrian walkway. 2. The bathroom had a lovely bathtub with a shower but since it did not have any type of glass partition or a shower curtain, we made a complete mess each time we used the shower. Those extra towels sure came in handy. The staff at the reception desk deserve special mention. They may have been the nicest and most helpful I have ever encountered. They went above and beyond. Case in point...Sunday night, after having been on the road a while, we needed a laundromat. Unfortunately, the laundromat was out of detergent and since it was Sunday, stores were closed. I mentioned the problem to an exceptionally pleasant woman at the desk. She briefly disappeared and returned with a generous portion of detergent from the hotel's supply. Such good will is not to be forgotten. If and when we return to Marburg, we will certainly want to stay here again.
