La Rochelle: hotel con bar

L'era era fantastica, le ragazze alla reception erano molto utili e estremamente amichevole. La stanza che abbiamo pagato come un aggiornamento e ricevette 2 bevande di benvenuto, ci aspettavamo una piccola stanza e questo è quello che abbiamo ma le nostre denunce non sono sostituti sacchi di caffè o tazze di carta, il pulizia della pompa nel doccia era vuoto ma non si noterà finché non si sono in doccia e poi cercare di sciogliere quella sopra il bagno. Le ragazze che puliscono le stanze devono controllare queste cose ogni volta.

Arrived after cycling in the rain for most of the day so we were a bit dirty. The reception staff were not very welcoming and made me feel uncomfortable. The secure bicycle parking was outside in the car park and not even under cover. Whilst the room was nice and the bed comfortable the shower was poorly designed. The shower cubicle was tiny and the doors opened inward so getting in and out was difficult. The vent was in a cubicle next to the shower and did not do anything to remove steam. There was black mould on the ceiling above the shower and the tiles had been painted and this was peeling off. This is a very overpriced hotel for what it offers, there are other hotel chains that offer better quality and better value for money. It is located about 1.5 kilometres from the old town and there was nothing close by.

Here we have a nice hotel, 10mn walk from the City center. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean, a very good point. Another great one is the bed which is really high quality for a perfect night ! If you are looking for something special, try their Suite with Jacuzzi, amazing one and you can even use it at night, great moment ahead :-) Location, Service, Rooms, everything was perfect. The improvement points are definitey 2 for us : - There is no Bar ! You can order food and drinks al night but there is no bar, the guy will make it for you in the kitchen that's it ! First time that we sleep in a 4 stars hotel without a real cosy place called BAR. Best exemple is to order a cocktail and you will see that there is not a real Barman. - The Food. There is no restaurant of course but the breakfast is very poor compared to competition and if we arrive around 9/10am (it closes at 11am), there is no more fruits....They do not refill actively. Another unique thing is that they do not clean the tables. You can arrive at 9/10am or 11am, all tables will be there as the clients left them and you cannot choose the table then. First time ever we see this !! In short, very nice to sleep and enjoy a Suite but services around (Bar, food...) are not at a 4stars quality expected.

Ottimo! Il servizio è sensazionale bene. Le camere sono pulite, abbastanza grande con piccola cucina e frigorifero. La piscina è molto mantenuta e c'è un bar in piscina. Il giorno più caldo dell'Europa, questo hotel è stato il nostro salvataggio. Abbiamo avuto un problema con l'auto il personale era super gentile e ci ha aiutato a portare la nostra auto fino al garage. Il bar è ben dotato e si ottiene anche informazioni professionali per bere. Abbiamo utilizzato il sito di benessere con sauna, sauna a vapore e massaggio. Ci sono state solo esperienze positive. Il personale è tutti in singolo modo multilingue. Ottimo! Ci piace tornare. 

We stayed three nights. The hotel is located in a quiet and green area, and the old town is within walking distance. Good secure and free parking is available. It is a large hotel with restaurant, bar, and a swimming pool. Our room was spacious and nice with a comfy bed, mini fridge, safe, and coffee maker. Also fresh and clean drinking water was available on each floor. The team members at the front desk did a great job, whereas housekeeping was less impressive and the cleaning just ok. Breakfast was included in our stay and was a somewhat mixed experience. Some of the hot items were ok, but the bacon greasy and not well prepared. The coffee was good. A special barbecue evening with live music was arranged one of the evenings. The food was of a very mixed quality, with some of the beef being raw and inedible. We complained about this to the waiter, but were only offered a better knife. Also the accompanying music was ok, but too loud for comfort (unless this was supposed to be the main attraction.) The mediocre performance of the restaurant is the reason for the above rating, which would otherwise be higher.

Really was a teeny, tiny room and sleeping in a cupboard describes it extremely well, having said that it was ideal for a quick one night stay for 2 adults, don’t think I would like to have stayed any longer as not much storage, but the storage they had was quite effective. The bed was large enough and very comfortable but as someone said, the mattress protector was very cheap quality and made the bed so very hot, also the air conditioning was not that brilliant but it had been in the high 30 at the time of our stay so may have been that the air con could not cope with the heat. We actually slept on top of the duvet, solving the problem of the hot mattress protector and used the bottom sheet as a cover. Ibis really could do with sorting this problem out as it is not ideal. We felt the hotel was in a quiet position, felt safe and we did not have any problems with noisy street noise or noisy neighbours. The shower was very good. Not a lot of street parking but we managed to get in and it felt quite safe to leave the car, worked out at €4 for 2 hours and free between the hours of 12-2 and 6pm - 9am in the morning, free all day Sunday. There is one delivery space that you can pull in at for 10 mins if dropping luggage off and if available, but bare in mind this is a one way street so you can not block it with your car for unloading purposes. The Verdun car park is quite close by, maybe a 5-10 minute walk and apparently only €1 for the day at the weekend. The day we arrived it was torrential rain so we were glad of the street parking. Did not have breakfast as lots of bars and boulangeries nearby. Check in and out was 12pm. The staff were friendly and helpful, they also have luggage storage. One tip, just be careful with travel adaptors, the charging points are sort of upside down behind a kind of light baffle affair and very easy to unplug your devise and leave the adaptor behind….anyone wanting one you will find ours in room 107!

Il bagno in camera è dotato di set di cortesia firmati e asciugacapelli.

Very nice hotel, in a quiet area, 10 minutes walking from Vieux port! Near the Gabut area, the Aquarium and the Musee Maritime! You could find free parking in the surrounding streets! Very good value for money also. They have a very nice initiative with housekeeping. If you stay more than two nights, every day you skip the housekeeping you get a free drink per person, such as a draught beer, local wine, tea or coffee at the hotel bar! Also they have a good water dispenser where you can refill your bottles every day with cold water! Their breakfast was quite good, with nice bread, nice crepes and all the basics of a typical french breakfast! The only thing they lacked was some fresh vegetables such as a tomato, a cucumber or a lettuce and fresh fruits. The quality of the coffee could also be improved. Rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable with two pillows each. The only thing is that the carpet gives the room a dusty smell. Overall very good for its place and price, with friendly staff!
