Hotel a La Garde-Freinet, Francia

We spent a week exploring the region and spent two nights at UP. Although we booked an apartment due to lack of availability on the website of another room type we asked if we would be moved to a room closer to ground level due to accessibility but they didn't seem to want to make any accommodation for us even though the ground level apartments were available on our second night. We were promised a free bottle of wine on arrival which turned out to be a half bottle, several menu items were never available and if you stay here, there's really nowhere else to go - the drive to La Gard Freinet is on a very narrow, winding, unlit road so distances are deceptive. Desserts were not at all good - he worst tiramisu I ever had. They get their bread and cheese from sister property St Roux - perhaps they should get their desserts from there, too. Music plays non-stop at this place which isn't exactly conducive to relaxation, even in wet, cold and windy weather they seated everybody on the terrace under plastic instead of inside the restaurant. As for the apartment itself, it was massive, but the bed wasn't, the lighting was poor and difficult to operate, the shower and sink didn't drain and the extractor didn't work, the soap bottles didn't dispense, there was black mold on the shower tiles, the tiny TV was awkwardly positioned, only one coffee pod per person per day, and on the second day despite arriving for breakfast at 9:00am (service ends at 10:30) there was hardly anything left. The staff in the shop didn't know anything about what was in there, wine tastings were overpriced (and seemingly non-existent), and the property's own wine was more expensive at UP than at area restaurants. I understand it's probably difficult to get staff due to the property's remoteness (I saw some turning up at 5am), but unless and until they address these issues I cannot give the place, as otherwise attractive as it is, more than 3 stars.

Ho comprato una Wonderbox ”Ciao gourmand” a 250€ o non c'era menzione che fosse fuori luglio e in fine settimana ( a causa dei matrimoni nella vostra stanza*****t) Mi sono rifiutato tutti i venerdi' di settembre, Sono appena riuscito a riprendere il venerdì 13 ottobre ; e infine mi sorprende una disponibilità .....ma solo la stanza senza cibo perché il ristorante chiude alla fine di settembre ! Penso sinceramente che le Wonderbox non vi interessano e in questo caso dobbiamo dire e toglierci dalle casse regali; prima di cercare un altro stabilimento****t più comprensibile; perché ho davvero avuto un colpo di cuore per il vostro; vi sottometto a nuovo le mie date ogni venerdì camera più pasti!! The best 3-star hotel you will find on the Cote d'Azur. We made it our home base for 7 days; spent a few nights elsewhere on our driving tour but Matisse was our favorite and most comfortable hotel. Very well thought out, clean, decorated with exhuberant Matisse themes, everything is done for the comfort of guests. A very quiet room overlooking the back terrace and pool, yet convenienty in the middle of town with restaurants, shops and the port/ Beach nearby. Staff always helpful and welcoming. A generous breakfast buffet. Parking garage across the street. One suggestion: add a grab bar to help older guests get out of the shower. We will return !

Questo hotel non era altro che sorprendente! La prima Anne-Catherine e Laurent erano così carini e di grande aiuto e ci hanno fatto sentire benvenuti. L'hotel è piccolo e si trova nel porto che non permette auto. Hanno fatto un grande lavoro di dare le direzioni prima di arrivare a quello che fare. Se viaggiate in auto, hanno 3 posti a disposizione all'hotel per €25 al giorno, ma questi sono soggetti alla disponibilità. Se sono pieni o si desidera qualcosa di più economico, vi forniscono informazioni sul parcheggio che forniscono fuori dal porto. Ci sono state date una scelta di camere, perché era fuori stagione, ma sinceramente non credo che ci sia una cattiva stanza in questo posto. Il Wi-Fi ha funzionato bene e ci ha fornito anche asciugamani per la spiaggia, per poter sfruttare la spiaggia. Se tornassi a Port Grimaud, non esitarei a rimanere qui di nuovo!

I was looking for a beautiful and peaceful boutique hotel away from the August crowds but close enough to visit a lot of the interesting touristic spots on the Cote d'Azur. Hotel Le Verger Maelvi delivered well beyond our expectations. It is a heaven of peace set in beautifully landscaped gardens on 15 minutes from all the main attractions. The pool is fabulous. The ambiance is incredibly peaceful and Zen. It is owned and run by a delightful family. Anja, her husband and Maxime could not do more to make sure their guests are happy at all times. Maxime, their son is literally spending all day working to meet all theirs guests' wishes and wants, always smiling and kind . The food they provide is incredibly fresh and well presented. The rooms themselves are lovely, all individually furnished and decorated. The bathrooms are simply stunning. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into every single detail about this hotel: the decoration, the gardens, the furniture, the atmosphere created, the food etc. I really could not find a single thing I thought could be improved. Thank you all at the Verger Maelvi for a wonderful and unforgettable holiday. My mother, my husband and I can't wait to come back. Karin B
