"We some issues with the room we got. Toilet has a foul smell but the service recovery was impeccable. We left for dinner and they helped us to shift rooms. All our stuff were placed exactly how we left them. They even brought over stuff we placed in the fridge. Parking is available on site but there are cheaper parking within the area."
"Bellisimo hotel sopra al centro commerciale di fianco alla stazione.
Con il tram storico in 10 min si arriva in centro. Tutto davvero perfetto.
Ci sono diversi parcheggi a buon prezzo intorno, ma anche l'hotel ne ha uno convezionato sotteraneo
Complimenti!"
"Wasn’t feeling well but the hotel room was very comfortable and next to a shopping streets with lots of good foods and there is a pharmacy that helps me with the right medication. Very nice bed and comfortable pajamas. Will stay here again. Fantastic stay and yes I fully recovered."
"The hotel is very near JR Kumamoto Station, which makes it convenient for travel. The room was large enough for three people, and the sofa was converted into a comfortable bed. Daily housekeeping is not included, but fresh towels and floor mats were provided in a paper bag hung on the door. There was a small holding area before entering the room to keep shoes and hang clothes, which added privacy since one of the beds faced the main door. The hotel also has a chapel inside (for weddings), and there are ample public car park spaces around if you drive. Overall, I would recommend staying here as it is comfortable and clean."
"Location was great, right next to shinshigai street, there was a public spa and sauna complimentary for guests to use. The pyjamas top was also quite comfortable to wear. Disposable toiletries available for pickup at the recep area, this includes tea. However, no coffee was available which was kinda shocking to me as this was a first I encountered in all the hotels I have stayed at. The air con or ventilation vent also requires deep deep cleaning, I had the sniffles after staying there and the air conditioning seems warm even after adjusting it to the lowest. I realised why after seeing the vent. The room feels slightly smaller than other similar sizes room that I have booked during my travels in Kyushu region."
"Vessel is a budget type accommodation... You get just enough of what you need and if you want anything more or anything specific, you help yourself to their amenities on the 2nd floor reception. Location wise was perfect for us and the rooms are all insulated so you don't really hear the noise outside. They don't provide carpark but have a tie up where you pay a fixed rate to a very close by carpark operator (about 250m away only). We were 4 persons (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and even though the room came with two beds each sized between a single bed and a queen sized bed and a third roll out mattress, you still need to pay more for the bed linen, comforter and a pillow."
"The hotel situated at the bus terminal where buses go directly from the airport.
Staffs are friendly and always happy to help.
Free coffee and tea at the lobby. Freshments like noodles you can get for free every night. Ice cream is free to take after 10pm. In the morning u can get free yoyurt.
Hot spring is very nice and hot. I would stay at the same hotel if I come again."
"A great value stay! The staff were friendly and helpful. The washing machine facilities were easy to use and managed to find an available machine most times. We stayed for 3 nights and each day bins were emptied and fresh towels given. The extra space under the bed for suitcases is a great touch and overall the room design in excellent. There were several tour groups staying during the 3 days which made it a little too busy, especially during breakfast as these guests all went at the same time. Not a great experience for more independent travelers like us, but the staff tried very hard. Overall one of the better stays we had during our Kyushu trip."
"Il Castello è un'ottima esperienza, ma è un'ottima esperienza.
La posizione era grande e il parcheggio era sul posto. Ci è una strada davanti all'hotel e da lì, il personale ci ha guidato al loro parcheggio sul posto. È come annunciato JPY1000 al giorno, ma il giorno di checkout, il parcheggio è fino a 11.30am. Dopo di che, più economico per parcheggiare altrove (JPY100 per 15 minuti vs JPY200 per 2 ore al castello di Kumamoto)."

DDominic CL Cheung*Excellent Stay at Hotel Nikko Kumamoto*
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Nikko Kumamoto, booked via (link unavailable)!
- *Cleanliness*: The hotel was spotless and well-maintained.
- *Rooms*: Our spacious Japanese-style twin rooms were comfortable and relaxing.
- *Location*: Perfectly situated, with Tsuruya department store and Kumamoto Castle within walking distance.
- *Customer Service*: The staff provided excellent service, friendly and helpful.
This is our second time to stay at this hotel. We surely stay here again if I visit Kumamoto again.
Overall, we highly recommend Hotel Nikko Kumamoto for its great location, comfortable rooms, and exceptional service. 5 stars!
SShin-Woei FannYou can see this hotel when you walk out from the east gate of JR Kumamoto station. Although the nearby area is not popular with just few restaurant and store, but it has a local railway station.
However, I have to say this is the worst hotel I have ever lived in my travelling life. This one in the Kumamoto shame on the whole Toyoko Inn system.
I had got some strawberry and sweets in the fridge in the room, and they were all frozen to ice at that night. I did not change any switch in the fridge and it was set up to 2 of total 5.
Then I took the frozen strawberry to the front and told the stuff, but a lady just said sorry about that and that's all.
I can understand there are some difficulties for the staff to explain why bad thing happened to the customers, but at least they should show they would put effort to fix the problems.
This happened in the second night, but I have not get any explanation or compensation when I left even till now.
And the water pump also created lots of noises when nearby rooms using water, so I think is might be refrained from an old hotel.
UUtente anonimoGood central location and close to Kumamoto castle and short tram ride away from Kumamoto train station. Clean and decent sized rooms considering Japan. Many eateries and restaurants within walking distance too. Nice gardens at Suizenji
EElsie1883Despite we paid a bit more due to Japanese golden week, this hotel is considered good value for money, good location, there’s a big 24hrs supermarket opposite plus some nearby restaurants. Free public bath in house, free drinks in morning and from afternoon till 11 pm. Free parking for self drive.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
UUtente ospiteLocated near Karashimacho tram station if you came from JR Kumamoto station. Many combini and supermarket in the area. Walking distance to Kumamoto castle, Kumamoto inari shrine, and Kumamoto square. Hotel staffs were really nice. The room and corridor functioned well but some refurbishment would be appreciated by many guests I think.
BBeee BeanNearby Ramen shop and 7-11, few mins to tram station and very good location and easy to get there by walking to the very famous street in kumamoto!! It is the second time to live here!!! Enjoyed the hot bath this time!!
FfogliaLa stanza era molto comoda e tutto era grande. La stanza era pulita e conveniente per un viaggiatore solitario come me e ho avuto un buon riposo. Era facile accedere con tram passando davanti all'hotel. Mi fermerò di nuovo quando visiterei Kumamoto!
UUtente ospiteI honestly do not know where to start, I booked the hotel without really knowing much about Kumamoto Prefecture. After arriving in Kumamoto City and then realising Ueki Onsen is another 40 minute bus ride I was thinking oh dear where am I staying. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the facilities. Once settled in I realised there isn't great public transport around and I primarily wanted to see Beppu and Yufuin during my stay, I enquired with the manager on where I might be able to rent a car, with little to no Japanese language under my belt he took it upon himself to reserve a vehicle for me and offered to drive me himself to collect it. He then also said he would take me back to return it a few days later. After my trips to Beppu and Yufui village (Not to be missed) and not to miss the outstanding and beautiful surroundings in Uekimachi and the Aso region. The manager and I set off to return my hire car, on the way back he took me to Kikuchi shrine to pray and also gifted me coffee and cake. They also accommodated me with use of the on site onsen (amazing) after hours as I'm heavily tattooed. I feel truly grateful to have found this hidden gem of rural Japan and if you are thinking of traveling this great country I emplore you to go off the beaten path. I experienced untold kindness during my stay and have memories of a life time. Thank you so much guys
