The Chow Kit - an Ormond Hotel

Little late check in at evening. The staff very attentive. The environment very lovely and vibrant. The hotel very attractive & cool. The location is good. The room is spacious. But i didn’t try their breakfast. Would come back to this hotel again.

It’s always a pleasant hotel to stay with. Parking is available for guest however is pretty limited. The parking fees is Rm15/24h. Which is quite reasonable to me. I’ll be back for another stay.

Hotel is located at Jalan Sultan Ismail which is 5 mins walking to Quill City Mall and Monorel Medan Tunku. A 6 mins walking to Sogo, Jalan TAR and 4 mins walking to LRT Sultan Ismail. Overall ambient of hotel was very nice, staff were very friendly and welcoming. The design was inspired at the great Gatsby Era with a twist of all local artist arts throughout the hotel and room. Hotel room was very clean, the only down side is that they do not provide toothbrush but you can request for it. They have a water dispenser but do not dispense hot water so you need to request for kettle. Room does not come with any slippers and there is no bidet.

The hotel is small in size but that gives it a more cozy atmosphere. The Chicago style architecture and interior is right up my alley. Post Company did a very good job on the interior. My room overlooks the streets outside. The amenities provided are sufficient although the lack of toothpaste is a bit inconvenient. And housekeeping seems to have forgotten to replace the empty bottle of body wash soap in the bathroom. I appreciate the mix between the Chicago design and traditional Malaysian artworks and designs of some of the furniture.

Nice places and good food

The Chow Kit is a resplendently designed hotel with fine detail to attention in its interior design and furnishing. The selection of artworks by local artists in the lobby, bar, and rooms is a wonderful touch. The staff tries their very best to accommodate requests -- kudos! Alas, the lack of amenities such as a fitness centre or pool made the stay rather basic, as I usually look forward to a morning routine before work! The two breakfast options I was looking forward to trying were also not available during my stay for two consecutive days, so that was a bit disappointing.

This place would be good for those who do not travel with vehicle. The hotel parking space is very limited (up to 15-20 cars?) at a time. If its full, you will have to park at the third party parking space next to it which costs RM20 per entry. Keep in mind, the parking space is unsheltered. Same goes to the path between the hotel & the parking space. The road was uneven, which is inconvenient to drag your luggage & also results in deep water puddles. Aside from that, we're pretty happy with the room, service, and food offered. Quite Muslim friendly as they were able to provide the breakfast for suhoor (at 5AM). One last thing, the toilet does not have a bidet. You will have to drag the shower head to use.

Location is ok, carpark is costly even for guest at RM15/ entry. Overall cleanliness of the room is acceptable. It would have been better if there isn't a sewage smell in the toilet.

The den is just nice for a couple. Location strategic, near Sogo, pertama complex, Quill mall, Jalan TAR etc. If you stay on Sunday, you can join the KL Free Car Morning around there. The food is very good, even though there's no buffet. Coffee is also good. However, you need to pay RM15 for parking. There is no free parking at all. Hope the hotel can provide free parking after this.
