The resort is located on top of the mountains. The views are very breathtaking!

We looked forward to a restful stay at the resort. However, the guests in the rooms next to us were inconsiderate and rude. It didn't help that the room's soundproofing wasn't great either. On the first night, they checked in late and made so much noise that it disrupted our sleep. On the second night, the group kept ringing our doorbell looking for their friends and playing loud music and talking late into the night. When we informed the front desk, they said they will speak to the guests to keep the noise down. However the noise continued. When we escalated the issue during checkout, the duty manager said she could not do anything about it. I am sure the noisy group had disturbed the other guests staying at the resort too. Furthermore, I don't understand what's the point of choosing a non-smoking room when the guests next door are smoking throughout the night with the cigarette smoke wafting into our room, because all rooms do not have aircon and hence not fully shuttered. We called the front desk to complain but once against their hands were tied. If you were attracted to the activities that they offered online, please do not place much hope in it. For the two nights we stayed, they said the yoga and singing bowls classes were not being offered. Not that it's full but it just wasn't taking place despite it being a daily activity. We also needed to check out early at 630am but breakfast starts at 7am. Some hotels with better service will ask if guests would like them to pack a small take out box, but this place didn't suggest that, and when I asked if they could do that, they said no. The worst part was when their WhatsApp to me as a guest got my name wrong, seriously do they not check their records first?? For an extremely expensive hotel by Indonesian standards, this place is super disappointing. It has a great view but everything else just spoilt the trip. Sure they offered us a return 2 night stay for our inconveniences, but as an overseas tourists why would I return again to Lake Toba that soon when I can travel elsewhere, and why would I even want to stay here again.

Great location n friendly front desk. Beautiful lake view. N reasonable. Price comparing to the same standard hotel . Will visit again.

We are happy!!!!! The staff so kind and soft spoken.. we love the view… Masha Allah.. so beautifull.. event we stay at standard room, we also can get the beatiful view of Danau Toba.. the breakfast was delicious.. this is the first time im going to Indonesia and i can eat all the food.. excellent.. i also like the tour package for free…keep it up..next time if i going to danau toba again, i will stay at waterfall inside Taman Simalem Resort..in Shaa Allah

The road to the resort can imrpive a lot. Came when its rainjng season. Cant do many things. Just do resort tour.  Cab or grab pr other service poor here. Can improve a lot. Easier for foreigners to commute. Or provide a shuttle for us to commute.

Great view, good breakfast Minus point : welcoming part need to improve, check in team need to react when see guest arrived with their lugages No tea bag or coffee in the room

amazing rooms with breathtaking views right at the top of the mountain. the weather temperature was very cold in the month of october therefore a light cardigan will be perfect to keep warm. the resort provides complimentary tours with a selection of activities at your comfort and some tours are available also for a small fee. all the attractions needs to be booked at the reception lobby.

The most beautiful hotel in Lake Toba, friendly staff and everything here is the best for our trip. Don’t miss One Tree Hill if you stay here.

Great location, but pretty disappointing service, and not too many amenities. The bathroom smelled pretty bad, and the water was really dirty (it came with sands and dirt). Also, the room service was very disappointing. We ordered food and it came without utensils. By the time the utensils came (30 min. later) the food was already cold. We didn’t have a pleasant stay.

Great lakeview view and location except the resort looked a little tired given the age. We had several rooms and one of them the toilet bowl could not flush. Steamboat dinner and breakfast had good varieties. Did not get to enjoy the facilities except the karaoke at night since most closed at 5pm and weekdays. Massage slots were limited.

+ The location is superb. The scenery is fantastic. Staff are friendly and courteous. - The room is dated and shower cubicle is mouldy. Noisy, no climate control. Trip price is more expensive

View-nya sangat membuat terpukau, indah sekali. Sangat tertata rapi taman serta jalannya, bersih dan tenang suasananya. Senang sekali menginap disini.

Semuanya oke, banyak kegiatan di dalam resortnya. Untuk daerah sekitarnya, ini hotel terbaik👍

What I really appreciated about Taman Simalem Resort was how much there is to do without extra cost. There are guided walks, a farm visit, kids’ activities, even a tea plantation tour — all included. It made the stay feel more complete, not just about the room and the view. The setting itself is stunning, overlooking Lake Toba from above, and the air is so fresh. I liked that the resort is big enough to explore — you can walk around, find quiet corners, or join the free activities depending on your mood. The staff were helpful, the rooms comfortable, but what makes this place memorable is that you don’t just stay here, you actually experience it. Definitely worth it if you want more than just a hotel stay.
