As an Indian family, I feel compelled to warn others about our experience at Fort house. What should have been a pleasant family stay turned into a humiliating ordeal during checkout.
The management accused us of stealing their hotel towels, subjecting us to mortifying luggage inspection in our vehicle in front of other guests. Even after they couldn't find anything, they couldn't be bothered with basic decency to apologize. What made it more revealing was watching the same manager who checked us transform into an accommodating host for foreign guests shortly before this.
I am sure this wouldn't have happened if the guests were foreigners. The experience was extremely hurtful as my son had to witness their parents being treated like criminals. Several towels were still in our room, which makes this even more absurd.
To my fellow Indians planning a stay here: be prepared to be viewed with suspicion and treated as second-class citizens in your own country, regardless of how much you pay. What was meant to be a special family vacation turned into a racist experience that was only available in foreign lands.. Our much needed family break turned out to be a nightmare that will be hard to forget.
