Algret House B&B

Algret House is located outside of the Killarney city center in a quiet residential neighborhood. I know this was a issue for some previous reviewers, but for my wife and I we enjoyed being outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Killarney but still only a 10-15 minute walk away. Gretta and her husband live next door to the B&B, and her husband helps cook breakfast in the morning. Algret House has its own car park attached to its property. We were welcomed by the owner, Gretta, when we arrived, and she is a delightful person. We chatted a bit and she showed us the eating area and explained how everything worked around the B&B. She is very organized and has everything that you might want. There is a common refrigerator for people that want to keep things cold. Our room was nice, clean, and appointed with everything we needed. Breakfast was served between 7-8:30am. Gretta has a good list of breakfast options, including a 1/2 Irish Breakfast, which was the perfect amount for us, and she even offered to do some modifications (like 2 eggs instead of just 1). When breakfast wasn't busy she chatted with us after we ate. We learned so much from her about the area and the way of living around there. And did I mention she was delightful! We would definitely stay at Algret House again. Gretta does a great job making sure your stay is pleasant and comfortable.

A fantastic place to stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well-appointed and very clean and neat. Our host Greta was delightful and helpful,even packing us a take away breakfast with our early departure. Breakfast was plentiful,delicious with many options. The location is 5 minute walk or so from High Street and National Park. Highly recommend!

From the minute we arrived and greeted by our host Greta until we left with a warm cheerio, this was a great night's stay in what is a very welcoming and well appointed bed and breakfast This was an excellent facility with well appointed room which was exceptionally clean and warm. Good to see that there was bottled water in the room which helped if we wanted to make tea/coffee. Very comfortable bed and the shower was brilliant with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was delicious, all cooked fresh and the home made scones were an added bonus. Algret House is no more than a gentle 10 minute stroll into the centre of Killarney but it is far enough from the centre to guarantee no excessive road noise from traffic. Without doubt if we are ever back in Killarney, we will certainly be looking at staying in the Algret Bed and Breakfast again. A gem of a place at a very reasonable price.

My favorite accomodations in Ireland. Greta was such a great host! She was attentive, helpful and super nice! Her Irish breakfast was delicious, my favorite one while in Ireland. Not to mention she had fresh scones every morning! The room was cosy and warm. I highly recommend!!

I seem to have had a different experience than most of the people who have posted. My welcome was not friendly at all, it was rushed and not very welcoming. My exit was the same way, very rushed by Greta. The doors to the rooms are so heavy they are difficult to open. However, the food was good. I would not stay here again.

Greta and Al are excellent hosts and a perfect complement! to each other Their breakfast is wonderful, my wife enjoy every dish, including the black pudding, a version of the blood sausage from Argentina. Do to my health condition, I required a low cholesterol diet do to my previous awful diet. They kindly prepared special breakfast for me! Egg whites, non-fat milk, berries, etc. Rooms nice an super clean. Great example of Irish people this wonderful couple.
