Airport Bird & Game Lodge

This place is wonderful .They have a wonderful staff very friendly and hard working you never have to ask for anything .There is a open general kitchen and dinning are where guess can sit ,eat and chat there is also a mini library if you enjoy reading . The grounds is spectacular for walking and you can feed the animals, nice for taking pictures .They are on time with picking you up from the airport. Look just pack your bag and go and if simple is 5 Stars i give that to them .

Only a 15 minute drive away from the usual Johannesburg airport hotel, a great stopover. I had 2nts on my way to Namibia and wished I could have stayed longer. Louise was fabulous on the airport pick up and check in. The girls looking after my room were fabulous and Harry in the kitchen is amazing. Delicious food and great menu variety. I did a day tour today to Apartheid Museum & Soweto and am just so excited to have visited. A great place to stay for families or budget conscious travellers like me. I’ll definitely be back.

This is the second time a colleague form China Mr. Liu Tao has stayed at Airport Game Lodge for a period of 2 weeks. The lodge is very neat and the staff are all super friendly and helpful, the rates are very affordable. The opportunity to sit and view various buck from your room everyday is also superb. Lastly the breakfast served daily by Monica is wonderful.

Comfortable older style rooms. Small wildlife enclosure with ostrich impala and roebuck. Friendly, helpful staff providing really nice breakfast. The cook gave my wife some tips on African cooking which were informative. The owners double up as a taxi service and will take you wherever you need to go. Small family business providig reasonably priced accomodation.

The promised transfer was 45 minutes late. The rooms were cold, uncomfortable and dirty. Don't fall for the pics on the homepage. We didn't pay a lot but even this was way too much! The light didn't work in the toilet and at the bedsides. The heater didn't help at all and in the morning it was cold and moist in the room. It didn't feel like in a superior room. One towel per person only. Breakfast was okay.

Stayed at the Airport Game Lodge for 3 nights, and the environment is relatively cozy and pleasant. Nice design in the rooms with the shower area in a separate room from the toilet. Nice view early in the morning as well as the deer roams freely around at the green patch of land. However, lots more can be improved. The boiler that was provided in the room turned out to be rusty and had to wait for long before it was replaced. Eventually I had to use the boiler at the dining area. Meals provided were sufficient (at least for me) yet there wasn't much variety - we had the same breakfast for three consecutive days. Yet overall I the meals were nevertheless satisfying since the food was fresh. The owner of the place was very friendly and warm where she constantly asked if we had enough to eat. Some snacks like biscuits provided in the room too. Blackouts seem to be relatively common here as well. I experienced 2 blackouts throughout the 3 night stay there. Others said they experienced even more blackouts. This could be improved. There's an internet service as well but I heard it was quite slow so I didn't use it. Of course, it's location serves to be a great advantage especially for free-and-easy travellers. But I travelled as a group so there's a tour coach to fetch me to the airport. I didn't use the free airport pick-up.
