Stayed here recently for a conference; requested and received Suite Night Upgrade to the Presidental Suite! WOW! Now, the hotel and surrounding area had been without power for the previous 22 hr and just regained it a few hours before I arrived. Suite was def warm- and I thought it was because of the power outage. Tried to turn up the fan which didn't change a thing. (in fact, I turned all 3 thermostats I found in there down to 60 and high fan and it never changed over 4 days! So- this suite is on the 38th floor and spans the width of the building so different views of the city from LR/DR and BR. Large 4 poster bed-- but there is a 4 inch ”ledge” around the mattress which is waist high to me (at 5-6”) making it extremely difficult to get into! Then discovered the bedside table and lamp was too far away to reach from bed...3 of the 4 pillows were incredibly lumpy- glad I only needed one pillow! Flat sheet on the bottom which wasn't long enough to be tucked in on top or side so it looked like a war had occurred in the morning (oh- and 2 comforters on the bed but don't know if it ever got cooler than 75 or so!). HUGE bathroom- big double size tub (but the row of lights over it had 3/4 of bulbs out), big steam shower with fabulous water pressure (but mildew on ceiling and amongst the marble tile), large bottles of fancy products in the shower (that could not be opened for those of you worried about that-I'm not, but see lots of angst about this). Several spots in teh BR had mildew, and lightening wasn't great for makeup. LR has 2 love seat sized couches (found some sort of canisters in between the seat cushions- ew!) large desk, table for 8 on the DR side plus a full kitchen (but a dirty black plastic serving spoon was on the stovetop!). Lots of nice artwork throughout. Carpet was stained in many areas. Never saw a TV remote though TVs were in the bedroom, bathroom and LR (didn't look real hard in LR, wasn't watching TV anyway, but thought it was odd). Housekeeping did come in after 2nd night, remade the bed with the same (wrinkled) sheets. Conference rooms were pretty darn cold. Oh, and did tell front desk that the AC wasn't working, but nothing changed. (Heard someone else on 38th floor complaining too). Lounge hours are limited- never made it there. Did have a bite to eat in the restaurant bar one evening- def not worth the calories or $. Unfortunately not much around open after 5 or 6, esp on a Sunday evening. Lobby is gorgeous, lots of seating in many areas incl tables with outlets for working.

Il nostro soggiorno in questo hotel ci ha davvero piaceto. Il servizio era eccellente e le strutture erano belle. Abbiamo condiviso un pasto al colazione e era molto bello.
An Art Deco masterpiece in the heart of downtown, the Hotel Phillips is a popular choice with guests who appreciate the charm and character of a grand and historic hotel. The hotel's address was once occupied by a haberdashery operated by President Harry S. Truman and his brother. Today, the hotel's top floor suite is named in his honor.
Built in the 1930's, this 20-story luxury hotel, a national landmark, continues to exude all the elegance of the period with modern amenities. Many of the original details remain, including the walnut paneling, intricate metalwork, 20-story mail chute, Art Deco light fixtures and a gilded winged statue of the goddess Dawn.
The 216 rooms are cozy, characteristic of a historic hotel, and comfortable, with modern amenities such as complimentary WiFi, multiple charging outlets, flat screen TVs, plump duvets, high-end linens, C.O Bigelow bath products and Keurig coffee.
The hotel's highly celebrated restaurant, Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, serves chef driven breakfast and dinner menus and happy hour, Sneak down to the 1930's inspired speakeasy bar, P.S., through the hidden entrance near the front desk for craft cocktails and small bites.
Additional amenities include a business center, room service, a 24-hour gym, massages available by appointment, and event space rental available by reservation with the sales team. Valet parking is available for a fee.
Right in the middle of downtown, Hotel Phillips is one block from the Power & Light District, eight lively blocks of restaurants, nightclubs and theaters, one block from the city's streetcar, and six blocks from the Sprint Center, ranked third in the US among sports arenas. The airport is 19 miles away.
More than just a hotel, the Hotel Phillips is an experience, a step back in time to a more gracious era. Everyone deserves that experience, if only for a night.

Eccellente
UUtente ospiteBooked it last minute due to bad weather and road conditions expected for our drive home from a chiefs game. The check in experience and parking went great. The bathroom door was a slide style and wouldn't stay shut or lock..so that was annoying. Other main thing I feel worth mentioning was the walls are on one side of us and 2 guys(brothers or bffs?) Full on arguing and slamming things starting around 4am. I didn't feel like the front desk could do anything 😕 so I silently suffered. Good things..parking was nice and close, breakfast was sooo good, and the food service attendant was really patient and helpful with everyone! We would be hesitant to stay again based on noise levels,or pack some ear plugs.
UUtente ospiteWe are finishing up a road trip of around 4,500 miles through eleven states. We have stayed at ten hotels, four of which were Holiday Inn Expresses, and this is, by far the worst not only Holiday Inn Express but the worst out of all of them. And, in fact, it's the worst hotel I can remember staying at in a very long time. When we checked in (2 rooms), I found the trash can in the bathroom sitting on the counter. Then my daughter called saying that there was something sticky all over the nightstand in her room and when she tried to call the front desk, she discovered that the phone didn't work. She also found popcorn on the floor in the room. She called them on her cell phone, and they said they'd send someone to clean and their excuse was that they were undergoing renovations. How in the heck do renovations impact the cleanliness of a room?About that time, the fire alarm went off. We were in the lobby, so we went outside and waited. Eventually the alarm stopped. We went inside and got in line to ask for a new room for my daughter. There was one lady helping a line of customers while some guy ran around like a chicken with its head cut off accomplishing nothing. After a while, he went to the other computer at the front desk, and we were able to talk to him. I found out later that he was the General Manager which I would never have guessed from his obvious lack of leadership ability or composure. We explained to him the situation and he said he'd sent someone to clean the room (Shouldn't that be done before the room is turned over to a customer?) but that the phone couldn't be repaired until Monday because Maintenance wasn't available on the weekends. He told us that we could have another room or could cancel the reservation. I though he was very condescending and rude. We opted for another room and then he told us that it would be on the fourth floor (dirty room was on the second floor) and that we'd have to carry our bags up because the elevators wouldn't work until the fire department got there and reset them. (I heard him later telling the firemen that arrived that he'd silenced the alarm. Shouldn't it be the fire department that makes sure the building is safe and gives the green light for people to reenter the premises?) We told him we could handle getting the luggage up the stairs and that we'd like to check out the new room. He gave us a key and we did so and found it to be satisfactory although the remote for the TV didn't work. (In the old room, the back of the remote was missing.) In my room, I later discovered that someone had written in pen on the arm of the sofa, an outlet was black from some sort of electrical issue that apparently caused arcing and the sink in the bathroom drained ridiculously slowly. Apparently housekeeping doesn't report maintenance needs to management or maybe they do, and management just doesn't address the issues??? As far as breakfast service, it was by far the worst of any Holiday Inn Express we stayed at on
