We have just returned after 20 nights at Ali baba we stayed for Christmas too, we are vip gold guests and have stayed multiple times I think 7/8. We usually have an amazing stay, hence our return each time. However this year lots have changed. Which unfortunately made our stay not as good as all our previous visits. The pool bar staff have changed (these are the people that you spend alot of time seeing and interacting with everyday) , all new staff now and unfortunately their language skills are not there at all nor the service. (the old pool bar staff are now all in the oriental restaurant which is amazing) these previously made our holiday unforgettable. The new staff and pool bar service is shocking. Dirty tables, no service at all, could sit hours there and not be asked if we want a drink or take our dirty cups away. my son was shouted and swore at by one man there. Luckily my husband is Egyptian so can confront and did, after that he soon changed however if you didn't understand you would never know what he said. Our housekeeping was standard. Nothing more. As gold guests we've always had little extras, flowers on bed or fruit ect we usually tip but didn't as he some days didn't leave water or clean the sandy floor. Animation - previously were exceptionally good. This year is a new team and new to animation so they arnt quite upto standard, however all lovely people. Olivia bless her is a diamond! And cj! Emad from the ring tree always goes above and beyond for us, multiple visits and still his lovely big smile welcomes us, and all the staff and chef in there are fantastic they all know us very well. Oriental is amazing, obviously because the best staff are all now placed in there. First time trying shogun as its new, it's definitely good food, but service slow and a smile will help . I do feel that food has gone downhill slightly in the ring tree. No fresh cooking outside stir fry like before. We did for the first time ever in the hotel get sick twice and as we are Egyptian/English we do often eat out and visit local places to eat but never had to worry so much as we've stayed in multiple hotels in hurghada which Ali baba was the onky one we wasn't ill at. Unfortunately this time we was. I will say the heated pool was very over crowded, it was Xmas so was very busy. However you have huge pools, we visit all times of year. This year alone we came April May and December. You have not heated the large pool ever, which with the amount of people there it definitely needs it. Staff on reception are always fantastic Awad always sorts everything we need thank you. I will say avoid shopping in the hotel supermarket, very rude. Rips you off. Even when we know the price outside. One night charged my half Egyptian son 200le for two packs of chewing gum. He went alone as he often does, I went straight in and got 100le back. Although they shouldn't have come to more than 50le really. Be careful, cigarettes he is charging 150-200le per pack. They are in
