La reapertura del magnifico edificio centenario con su puesta en valor y modernización es muy lograda. La atención es óptima y el personal es muy amable y eficiente. Empezando por la recepción. La comida es de muy buena calidad si bien la relación calidad precio es exagerada. La cena es muy cara, las porciones son casi una degustación. Se destaca la cordialidad y eficiencia de Ireneo en el desayuno y almuerzo, el encargado del salón, el cual está en todos los detalles. La calidad del pan es excelente tanto En el desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena. Hay una anomalía casi cómica: la calidad del café del desayuno es ESPANTOSA. Es imposible de tomar. Casi parece un chiste de mal gusto. En el almuerzo o cena se puede beber un Illy original muy aceptable. La suite júnior resulta un poco sui generis. No es muy amplia. Su diseño circular es fascinante pero algo incomodo. Choca que dónde está el inodoro no haya un lavabo. El personal de limpieza es amable y correcto si bien un poco lento. Falta posiblemente personal. El spa es muy bueno y la pileta externa permite nadar. Se extraña un hidromasaje.

Stayed in the hotel for two weeks. The hotel's location is perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they helped me in everything I needed. The room is comfortable and clean, as well as the whole hotel.

O hotel está muito bem localizado, próximo a ”ciudad vieja” e a rua principal avenida de Montevidéo, avenida 18 de julho. Próximo é possível encontrarmos supermercados, lojas de câmbio, farmácia entre diversos outros comércios. Os serviços do hotel são bons, tais como o atendimento, quarto, limpeza e café da manhã com as variedades necessárias. A equipe de recepção foi bastante atenciosa, ao ser solicitada sobre informações turísticas.

I regularly visit Montevideo for academic business and Mercure Punta Carretas turned out to be the best accommodation I ever had in the Uruguayan capital. The location almost directly on the shore of the Rio de la Plata is very pleasant, there is a sea food restaurant open until late. The rooms of the Mercure are OK (nothing fancy but there is everything one needs), yet the quality of the stay is nonetheless outstanding. The breakfast buffet is delicious (homemade granola among other), there is a co-working space and a gym on the top floor. The gym is tiny, there is a complete set of dumbbells, a stationary bike and a yoga mat, all of quality but that's it. However, this is enough to throw in a good session while the view on the Plata is breathtaking. Last but not least, cheers to the friendly, helpful and absolutely trustworthy staff! Highly recommended.

Wow. One of the most ridiculous experiences in over 35 countries and 150 hotel stays in my life. Arrived at the hotel which looks dated from the outside but I was confident, based on the reviews, that the rooms would be decent as I expected. Slow check in process but staff fairly friendly. We got to the room which, no exaggeration, was one of the most dated, smoky, disgusting rooms I’ve been given. Rather than complaining at the end of the stay, I returned to reception and said that the room was horrible and smelt terribly of smoke. I asked if we could be moved to a nicer, newer room. This wasn’t well received but Leonardo (hotel receptionist) said that he would arrange for us to move to a room on the eighth floor. We fetched our things from the first room and waited at reception. After Leonardo had ignored us for a few minutes, I asked again if we were being moved to a better room. To clarify, by better, I was asking simply for a more modern room that did not smell of smoke and that reflected the photos of the hotel online. At this point, he lost his temper and said that we needed to go and sit and wait. I explained to him that we had a reservation later in the evening and that we needed to check into our new room quickly. He behaved aggressively and with a short temper - telling me that I should basically be grateful that he was moving our room! I explained that, as a customer, we pay for a room of a good standard for the price and that he was not doing us a favour! He then accused me of ‘harassing him’ about having a better room! There was no element of ‘harassment’ and only Leonardo speaking in a rude and totally unprofessional way. I could not believe what was happening! At this point, I asked to cancel the room as we were going to stay elsewhere. I asked Leonardo for confirmation that the cancellation would be free and he told me ‘he did not have time to write this confirmation’. I explained that it would take him less than a minute and that we could only leave the hotel if we were sure we would not be charged. He begrudgingly provided Brie after demonstrating a further bad attitude. I am sure that the hotel will reply to this review with a different version of events but, all I can say is, this hotel is seriously dated, in a bad condition, smoky in the room we were given and the attitude of Leonardo was one of the worst and most bizarre I have ever come across. I am also making a formal complaint to the NH Hotel group, whom I expected better of.

Punta Carretas is perhaps the best neighborhood in Montevideo, safe and neat, close to the beach, park, shopping, and good restaurants. Perfectly located in Punta Carretas is the Bit Design Hotel, which truly lives up to the 'design' in its name. Beautiful reception, lovely rooms, everything in perfect order. Especially the receptionist on duty in the afternoon-evening was incredibly sweet and helpful. But everyone was friendly and smiling. Bit Design Hotel deserves our warmest recommendation.

Nos quedamos sólo una noche y nos encontramos con un hotel moderno y cómodo, en una muy buena ubicación para conocer la zona de Buceo. La habitación muy cómoda, el desayuno buffet completo, variado y rico. La atención del personal muy buena también. Cerca del hotel se encuentra el Montevideo Shopping Center y en la zona hay varios restaurantes para comer. Aunque por la zona del hotel no se vio mucho movimiento, se sintió seguro. Volvería.

Tem só uma coisa boa no Gema Hotel: a localização. De resto, menciono pelo o que passamos: 1) apesar das fotos no site, não há café da manhã (mas ainda bem que pertinho tem o ML Calentitas, excelente) 2) Banheiro sem secador de cabelo, toalhas de banho velhas e ásperas. 3) Edredon cheio de manchas. 4) Fronhas e roupa de cama com CABELOS de outras pessoas. Ao pedirmos para trocarem e explicarmos o motivo, o responsável disse que devia ter vindo assim da lavanderia. Ou seja, não era culpa deles. Ou seja, não precisam ficar chateados. 5) todos os cantinhos do balcão/janela com sujeira, vidros sujos, paredes sujas. 6) as cortinas devem ter sido brancas um dia, mas estão cinzas e encardidas de sujeira. Já tínhamos pago pelo Trip advisor, não tinha muito o que fazer, apenas encarar o assunto (afinal, era só uma noite lá). Considerei comprar roupa de cama no supermercado de tanto ”nojinho” que fiquei. Eles acabaram trocando, mas por via das dúvidas cobrimos os travesseiros com camisetas nossas. Estava frio, mas não tive coragem de pegar o cobertor extra que havia no armário - e para me esquentar, coloquei uns lenços de frio (echarpes) sobre nós. Resumindo: altamente NÂO recomendo. Pode ter sido bacaninha um dia, mas hoje está abandonado e sem direção.

We were shocked when we first arrived at the hotel. The hotel is small but centrally located. However, our trip was ruined when the woman at reception/check-in did not speak ANY English at all. We just kinda guessed everything. Asked about breakfast, no response, asked about Taxi, no response, asked about food recommendations, no response... In the evening, there was guest arguing with the evening individual who worked reception and I could not squeeze in a chance to get ay questions in. Lastly, the front desk is only for limited hours, so if you stay out past that time, you would need to input the code into the keypad, which did not work everytime. Room was large and decent. Elevator was small and I would not stay there again.

unfortunate cleanliness conditions. We have booked to enjoy some days in this mansion, BUT a great deception comes! At arrival the receptionist ask a mandatory FULL CANCELLATION of reservation, never that happen in any hotel but, unfortunately, I do cancel ALL During a first evening, 3 times the power goes down, after the third episode didn´t work and we should be moved to other room! After all of that and with the unfortunate cleanliness conditions, that we saw, decide to leave the hotel on next morning. NOT REFUND OF next FOR NIGHTS was accepted by the owner!!! WE LEAVE THE HOTEL AND THE OWNER DO NOT ANSWER MORE ANY EMAIL. PLEASE DO NOT PAY IN FULL on arrival, if anyway you decide to visit this Hotel.
