Höfn: hotel a 2 stelle

Uno dei migliori ostelli in cui ho alloggiato in Islanda! Il prezzo per la camerata mista è quello medio che si può trovare ovunque, gli ambienti sono nuovissimi, con ampi bagni e una cucina super fornita con diverse postazioni. Livello di pulizia impeccabile. Staff delizioso. Ottima base per visitare la baia glaciale di Jökulsárlón e la Diamond Beach.

We’ve stopped off at this guesthouse a number of times when we visit Vestrahorn. Every time we have been impressed with the cleanliness and comfort on offer. You get a lot for a very little price and it’s what keeps us coming back year after year. Breakfast is basic and consists of cereals and yoghurts but it’s included in your room rate. The guest house has a very hostel type vibe to it but that just adds to the pleasure of staying here.

We stayed in the private suite at the top of the building (2bed/1bath) and it was extremely overpriced, almost north of $450 a night. The two blonde ladies who own the place (I’m assuming it was a mother daughter duo) were extremely rude to us. When we first checked in, we noticed a spiral stairway connecting our unit to the floor below. I went to check out what was on the floor below, believing at first it was also part of the our unit. The two owners proceeded to yell at me, telling me I was not allowed to be on this floor as it was only for staff, so I apologized and went back up the staircase. The staircase was not blocked off and it was not clear at all that it was a staff area, and I feel uncomfortable knowing it was just connected to our unit. Later that day, I headed downstairs to the public kitchen area to get a little bit of pepper, as the kitchen in our unit was out of pepper. As I was walking back up to our unit on the street, one of the owners ran towards me yelling that I was not allowed to be downstairs and warned me that she had already told me once, and was very rude. Once again, it was not clear that we in the top unit were not allowed to access the public kitchen area that was available to the rest of the guests. Overall, I think I should be allowed to grab some pepper if I’m paying $450 a night, and being yelled at for it is ridiculous. The owners seemed like they were constantly on edge and anxious. I would highly recommend staying at the hotel next door as it’s is much nicer and the staff is very easy going.

Long story that I will try to summarize as best as I can. We visited the guesthouse August 28th, paid a high rate as it was summer but the location was good and the space was comfortable for 4 people. I would have given this place a great review if it weren’t for what happened afterwards. The only issue we had was the sofa bed was uncomfortable. The next morning we very briefly took the mattress off the sofa bed (it was a very simple set up, just two Velcro straps attached to the base frame for easy assembly). We put it back exactly how it was shortly after. We then notice a man is outside our window looking in. My partner looked out the window and made eye contact, we found it very odd that someone was hanging around but just assumed maybe he was on the phone and didn’t realize people were in the room. A few minutes later we heard a knock on the door and it was the same man. He was very frustrated and agitated, asking us several times what our “problem” was. We said we had no problem everything was good. He then again asked rudely what our problem was and we were confused and said why do you think there is a problem? He then shows us a picture he took from outside our window INTO our room showing the mattress off the sofa bed. We were very shocked and uncomfortable that this man had taken a picture into our room, we had 3 girls inside getting ready for the day and thought this was very inappropriate. We explained to him again that there was no issue we just had to adjust the mattress and put it back exactly as it was before. We closed the door on and made a reminder to let the owner know when we got back from the trip of this negative experience. I thought they would be understanding and apologetic. I reached out to the owner upon returning home, a week after our stay. Explaining that we felt uncomfortable having a strange man hanging around outside (this was hours before check out too), taking pictures, being rude when he never explained who he was or what he was doing there. To my surprise, they were defensive and gave no apology. They are now threatening to contact *********** to charge me for damage (conveniently they are claiming this a week later, not right after our stay) when I have proof nothing was damaged. I never write bad reviews but wanted to warn others of this experience.

Super clean and easily accseble little guesthouse in the middle of höfn. Clean bathrooms and lovely common room. Enjoyed my stay througly! Very near every restaurant in Höfn. Beachwalkway easily found.

Questa guest house si trova a 31,6 km da Museo d'arte di Hornafjordur e 31,9 km da Museo Geologico Huldusteinn.Questa guest house per non fumatori offre percorsi da trekking o per mountain bike.La colazione self-service è disponibile a pagamento tutti i giorni dalle ore 08:00 alle ore 09:30.La reception è aperta in orario limitato. Il un parcheggio gratuito è disponibile in loco.Nelle 4 camere della struttura ti sentirai come a casa. Il Wi-Fi gratuito ti consente di restare in contatto con il mondo. I bagni dispongono di doccia e asciugacapelli.

This is a reasonably good quality hostel vastly overpriced if you book it too late (as we did). 10 smallish 2-3 bed rooms with sink; only 2 bathrooms (comprising shower, toilet, sink). Common space around two reasonable kitchens each including hob, microwave and fridge plus ‘free’ apple/orange juice and coffee/tea on tap. WiFi good in common area, non-existent in some of the bedrooms. Fittings rather basic but adequate. 10 am checkout is an hour earlier than the Icelandic norm. Paying at / above the rate for three star hotels was a rip-off but then it was the only available accommmodation when we booked - avoid our mistake and book really early in this area.

Muy buena estancia, dispone de cocina. La única pega es que tengas que ir a hacer el check in a otra Guesthouse... Cuando puedes hacer un auto check in.

Abbiamo soggiornato una notte in una delle camere con bagno privato nella piccola e bellissima dependance. Qui ci sono tre stanze con bagno privato e una cucina ben fornita in comune. Noi abbiamo avuto il privilegio di essere soli e sfruttare l’intera casetta per noi. Camera nuova, semplice e pulita. Bel panorama in una zona davvero tranquilla a pochi chilometri da Hofn. L’unica pecca (perdonabile) e’ il bagno che appare un po’ un modulo poco integrato all’ambiente e con la doccia ancora dotata di tendina in plastica…. Ma sinceramente il rapporto qualità prezzo e’ più che ottimo e se tornassi a Hofn farei volentieri la scelta di tornare qui!!
