Hawkstone Hall Hotel & Gardens

Stated here for my partners birthday, little surprise night away. Beautiful place, stunning on the eye, the drive in really is special. Decor stunning, really feel like it’s an occasion when you’re there. We had dinner off the lunch menu which was just sandwich’s, lovely for what you’re getting. Massive bonus points for the cave, I was able to high this out for a few hours where me and my partner played pool, football table and even on the ps5 :) just us, grea lt touch. We had tea in the hills kitchen, very small part of the hotel and I did ask if it was possible to sit in the main hall as it’s beautiful, jist didn’t like the menu for that hall. Was told no only people who book tea and bed + breakfast can sit in there. Which was odd as that’s exactly what we paid for. Never the less it’s was a lovely little restaurant and the female waitress working was really lovely and went out of her way make it special. Steak was £31 so not cheap but the peppercorn sauce that came with it was the best I’ve ever had so can’t complain. Breakfast again lovely, the staff again very polite and welcoming, go out their way. Food was nice enough in the morning. The only slight negative comment I would say is the room. We had a standard double room, I asked if there was a view and was told a slight view of wales. When they say slight, it means you have to peak through the window coverings to see it as. The biggest negative was the room noise though. Walls are wafer thin, could hear what the next door room was eating let alone watching and talking about. Really are as thin as walls as I’ve stayed in. I’m sure the suites don’t have that problem but your talking double maybe triple the price. Overall though beautiful place, the setting and surrounding really make it. Not too sure if we will go back but certainly recommend

Beautiful building. Excellent staff. Food very good. Great gardens to walk around. As we had a dog with us we were restricted to the type of room we could have. The room was very small and not suitable for 2 people and a dog. We were very disappointed that the room didn't have a wardrobe for hanging clothes. Also there was no table and chairs. We had to sit on the bed all the time. Having said all this, we had a wonderful time.

We went for afternoon tea at hawkstone Hall bought for us as a gift you arrive by a long drive and standing at the end is this magnificent building first impressions manicured lawns ample parking too we were greeted at the door by a gentleman who was very smartly dressed and polite nothing was to much trouble for him the afternoon tea was absolutely lovely lots of nice sandwiches and cakes and scones jam and clotted cream.we then had a look around the grounds and met the gardeners who were friendly and helpful they do a remarkable job considering there is only a few of them all the staff were lovely I would highly recommend this place we will definitely be back as we live local in Shrewsbury

From the moment you step into the building you are blown away by the beauty of the place. Attention to detail, welcoming staff, very professional and so beautiful. I can honestly say we were blown away by the architecture, gardens and the general feel of the place. I would return in the blink of an eye.

Let me begin my review by saying that Hawkstone Hall is one of our very favourite places to lunch! We are always extremely well looked after and enjoy the surroundings immensely. However, on our last visit there happened to be a Wedding Fayre taking place and whilst I understand that weddings must bring excellent financial returns we felt that we were treated with less care than usual. As we had guests with us we were looking forward to sharing the lunchtime experience. Instead of relaxing pre-lunch drinks we were ushered immediately into the salon and to our table. Our guests were unaware of this of course. They did notice the scrum around the entrance and having to negotiate a path through it. But now I come to our biggest complaint. There was a Wedding Fayre - yes! Lots of prospective young couples looking to enjoy their special day at Hawkstone Hall -yes! Were the customers, simply there to enjoy Sunday lunch, compromised - yes! Hurried, and with no pre-lunch drinks, we were then subjected to people entering the salon to look around. We had one charming lady who actually stood watching us eat until I gave her a questioning stare! I think it is unacceptable to allow people into the salon unless they are dining and should only view from the doorway. The serving staff were, as always, very pleasant and considerate but I feel that, on this occasion, the experience of dining at Hawkstone Hall was less than perfect.

We booked Sunday lunch weeks ago for a special occasion only to be called at 9am this morning (Sunday) to be told a wedding fayre had been booked in. Surely you knew about this sooner? Very poor communication and we’re now left without a family meal. They also took a £50 cancellation deposit from us (which they refunded) but did not offer any compensation for our inconvenience.

In late June my husband booked a few nights stay at this beautiful hotel as he felt I needed as much pampering as possible and a good relaxing break after a stay in hospital. From the moment we arrived I knew the place was special. Beth on reception greeted us warmly and we sat in a lounge sipping prosecco as the bags were taken to our room. Because my immune system is a little compromised they allowed me to eat in room and Robert brought in a table for added comfort, so much appreciated. The room was spotlessly clean and I loved having a cuddle with the little teddy bear left on the bed. Food was delicious and plentiful, they also took into consideration my dietary requirements (which some hotels refused). The hotel lounges are just so comfortable and you wonder if there is a secret passage behind the bookcase. It was like visiting friends in the country in films of yesteryear, so relaxed yet so efficient and friendly too. I loved seeing the old typewriter on a desk and wanted a phone (from the 20s) that was in our room, to take home. Lucy was so knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and showing me my favorite ceiling in the hotel. The place is so clean, the staff (all of them) so naturally friendly and helpful, the location great and not forgetting the 2 donkeys to go and stroke at their stable in front of the hotel. What a fabulous all round experience and rest I had, we shall definitely go back and i wish Angela special happiness this Christmas.

My family and I had arrived for a wedding. The hotel is in beautiful surroundings. Check in was 3 but as the wedding party arrived it was sometime before we could access our rooms. Our bags were taken however, and placed in our rooms. I was disappointed with my room. It was a double, very small and had frosted glass so I was unable to look out, even from the bedroom window. Had I been able to it would not have been a good view, unless you like a view of bins and roof tops . This was claustrophobic. Do not stay in Room 206. If we were not so busy and late to bed I would have requested a different room. However, as it was not the cheapest of hotels I was dismayed that the room took the edge of what was an outstanding day. I had booked four rooms, I asked for two doubles , a family room and a twin. We were given a suite for the family. The room was on the third floor but there is a lift so far. The suite was extremely well appointed, with a roll top bath and two en suites. The other double and the twin were just ok. The hall itself is a magnificent building with beautiful sociable rooms, with large comfortable sofas and chairs. The wedding was fabulous and the food served was incredible except for the potatoes which were too salty, that was the general consensus. Apart from that, it was a delicious meal, fabulous venue and very good staff. The breakfast the next morning could not be faulted and again the staff were very attentive. I would definitely stay again but not in Room 206! All in all it was a lovely wedding.

From the moment of your first glance of the breathtaking building to the moment you leave it’s truly magnificent. We have lots of weekends away but this was the by far the best. We were totally blown away - the building, the grounds, the staff, the attention to detail - just wow. We booked through a third party but it made no difference - we were treated like Royalty in a beautiful suite overlooking the grounds. We did not want to leave and will be back. Thank you Hawkestone Hall
