Polo Beach Club, a Destination by Hyatt Residence

We've stayed in the Polo Beach Club 3 times in different units. Unit 205 is a good option but, it has issues. PROS: Excellent Views Nice layout Updated decor Full kitchen (except oven) CONS: Old building, showing it's age. It's on the FAR end of the sidewalk. Not really easy to walk to dinner and back at night. We were given incorrect gate codes to get in. Finally another car came and we followed them in. We called the "24 hour" phone number on the gate and nobody answered. Once inside our phones went to SOS mode. It's a total dead zone with no cellular. We read all the information cards - no wifi info! Finally we noticed a clear acrylic stand with a QR code "use this for wifi information" noted. We tried this, but the page with the wifi info would not load, probably because it's a dead zone. We called the Coldwell Banker phone - no answer. We emailed them too - nothing. We had to check in with our kids so we had to walk to the nearest hotel to get wifi, to load the page with the wifi information, so we could have service in the condo. WHY not just leave the wifi on a paper on the front table with everything else??? Even once we were connected, we had 1/4 of 1 bar on our phones the whole stay. TERRIBLE WIFI. This unit has a great view but the lanai (patio) is very shallow - 1 person deep. Fine for two people but, it was smaller than we thought. You could sit 4 people in dining chairs only side by side. As other reviews noted, the Master bed is very lumpy.

This location is ideal, just steps away from the beach while also at the quiet east-end of resort row. The building is very well maintained with gated access and underground parking. We rented unit 408 which is beautiful and comfortable - would highly recommend it. We will rent at Polo Beach Club again for our next visit to Maui.

It was a perfect place and clean and comfortable. They only thing is that ********** advertised a room with two queen beds and they were only two twin beds. Big difference…

Really beautiful unit. The best equipped kitchen I've ever seen in a rental. Lovely rooms and views and very well appointed. Very nice warm pool and beach on property. Near all the best resorts and restaurants and shopping. Only bummer and unfortunately a big one was the crazy construction noise coming from the drilling being done in the building outside walls and floors. Really bad and not sure it was ever disclosed.

I'm going to preface this review by saying that we've come to Maui annually for decades and have stayed in condos and hotels up and down Wailea. We've always wanted to try staying at Polo Beach Club. We stayed in unit 508. We booked through Hyatt so we did not have the opportunity to choose our unit. Once we got here and realized we made a mistake, we ended up looking at reviews and felt so stupid as we would have never stayed here had we looked prior. We always check reviews and just didn't this time. I think we assumed "It's Wailea. It's right on Polo Beach. It's 1K/nt. It's going to meet our needs." We requested a unit with two twin beds in the second room which is how we ended up in #508. Destination Residence/Hyatt makes you drive to their office before check in to get your parking pass and a key code texted to you. We've never been made to do this with any other mgmt company so that was a little annoying when you've just landed and are tired. Polo Beach Club is an old building sitting right on Polo Beach. They haven't done much to upgrade it and seems like they've simply relied on it's location as a draw. The problem is that most people who are ok paying upwards of 1K/nt expect a certain level of comfort. As far as the property itself goes, it's overrun by 4-5 roosters that start waking you up at about 5am. I know, this is a Hawaii thing. But we've stayed at plenty of properties that don't have this issue. We were chatting about it with a Kea Lani employee and they commented they were surprised no one has "relocated" them like they do at other properties given the price point. They are a nuisance and wake you up extremely early. We've lost a lot of sleep because of them. The gate to the beach malfunctioned several times leaving us stranded on either side our first week. The water filtration station was not working. The parking garage is essentially used by anyone that wants to use it. So even though you are required to get a dashboard pass, no one checks it and you can barely find a spot. Also, it didn't even occur to me to see if there was a club house or shuffle board, corn hole or lawn games, or gym or ANY other amenity. There is NOTHING here bedsides a pool and hot tub which are maintained well. David, who works on site here, was incredibly responsive when we needed a fax and help with the jammed gate beach gate. Unit 508: This unit is 1K per night. We didn't expect luxury appliances, real art or upgraded linens. We expected a level of comfort that was above a Motel 6 though. When you first walk in you get an overwhelming urine smell. Not sure if it's in the carpet that was likely installed in the 80s, in the beds, or the furniture. The next thing you notice is the buckling carpet all over the condo. The beds are rock hard and the King bed is sinking in the middle. Something a new $30 foam topper could fix. Our backs were so sore the entire trip. The "pillows" were odd shaped (smaller than standard sized) nubs we had to cobble toge

We had a family reunion and this was easy to access and had a terrific view! The barbecue area was a fantastic feature. The jacuzzi and pool were steps away. The beautiful beach and grounds offered options for all of our family. The best part was gathering for sunset. We took our cocktails out to the lounge chairs and were in awe of the Spectacular colors that lit up the sky, it was truly a trip to remember ! We are all talking about next year and are looking forward to a return vacation.

Loved our stay at the Polo Beach Club. The views are amazing. We were in a unit that was set back from the beach front (3rd row of units from the beach front). The views were still stunning. The unit had 4 beach chairs, kitchen was fully stocked, and lots of family games. We booked through Hyatt Destination Residences. The unit was rated as a "gold" so it had some updates but not the "platinum" level. Bathrooms were dated but loved the large master shower that had a dual shower head with one being hand held. Large capacity washer and dryer. Nice tvs in each room. Newer appliances. Beds and couch were nice. The pool quickly goes from the steps, to 4 ft deep, and then 6 and 7ft deep so not little kid friendly without some type of floatation device. We loved the beach front. It's not large but wasn't crowded. Felt much more private/quiet than other beaches we visited on the island. The beach had a gradual decline as you enter the water which we loved. Decent snorkeling when it was calm. We saw a variety of fish, an eel, and even had a turtle swim right between us! My only criticism was the unit had an odd mildewy scent for the first day and a half. I was wishing for some type of room air freshener. The unit was very clean despite this. Parking is underground and felt very secure. Would recommend Polo Beach Club and hope to stay again.

Perfect location! Felt like a private beach with great snorkeling, turtles, and no crowds! Beautiful sunset strolls (watching whales) along the boardwalk to eat dinner at the other hotels nearby. Room had nice ocean views from large windows

We visited the Polo Beach Condo (206) for our babymoon end of January. We absolutely loved the location— walking distance to the major hotels, enjoyed by the ocean path, and far away enough from foot traffic. You can hear the ocean from the condo all day and the beach is right in front of you. The unit was outdated, but we didn’t mind! Such a relaxing place to stay and we can’t wait to come back!
